“Inho, help me with this box please,” You told your son, who had his headphones on him, almost tuning you out. When you repeated yourself, he helped you out.
The box was labeled – DO NOT THROW!! in your handwriting from three apartments ago. Inho stopped in his tracks and with one hand removed his headphones, turning towards you.
“Mom,” He called you, still looking closely at the box in his hands, “What's this? And why is this named “Do Not Throw” He asked, mocking the last words.
Before you could answer, Sora, your daughter’s squeal was heard at her elder brother's words. “What is that? Show me! Show me!”
She ran, not after Mingyu, your husband, reminded her not to run.
Tuning out her father's words of concern, both the siblings started searching through the box, curiosity getting the best of them.
Mingyu and you let your kids be, and continued unpacking the boxes from the move-in truck.
“We found a camera!” Sora shouted. “It actually works!”
Mingyu glanced over at you with a grin as he kept one of the last boxes, down. “Do you think it’s the camera?”
You reciprocated his grinning and said,“I know it’s the camera.”
Inho appeared next to you both, while Sora was still searching through the box. “This picture,” he started not before calling his sister next to him.
He turned the screen. There it was. A picture of you and Mingyu, both red-faced, sunburn visible because of the camera’s flashlight, laughing too hard and with two bottles of beer in your hands.
His shirt was unbuttoned halfway down, and you were in a sundress, hair in a bun. Your clothes were drenched, and it was only slightly visible in that picture. You looked…so young.
“Oh my God,” your daughter muttered. “Are you drunk? Also why are you wet?”
Mingyu laughed out, “We both were drunk, only a little.”
“That doesn't look a little.” Sora shared a look with her brother and looked at you both.
You covered your face with your hand.
“That trip,” you said, through your fingers. “Oh, that was chaos.”
“What's the story behind this picture, Mom?” your son looked at you and his father.
flashback (2025)
“Wait— do you know what we should do right now?” You slurred drunkenlyto the 6 foot Cindrella. Without waiting for his answer you continued, “Jump in that lake!” You pointed towards the lake in front of you.
“No! Are you mad? We are not doing that!” 6 foot Cindrella answered, taking a sip from his bottle of beer.
“Why not?! Come on it's gonna be funnn.” You said, getting up and finishing the last sip of the beer.
“No, Princess Sofia. Sit back down now.” 6 foot Cindrella tried to stop you from jumping into the lake.
“Come on! Don't be a party-pooper. Get up, please!”
You somehow managed to get the buff, six-foot man to stand up and dragged him near that lake.
“Are you mentally ill? I'm asking seriously.” He looked at you with concerned eyes.
“Yes and no. Now jump with me on the count of three.” You replied quickly and jumped with him, screaming, on the count of three in that lake, with a big smile on your face, after days.
“You really are crazy. You know that?” Cindrella scolded you lightly while still helping you get out of the lake. You guys were in that lake for a good hour and a half.
Even though he enjoyed it, he scolded you for being so irresponsible.
“I know.” You grinned while shivering and walking towards the bench where you were sitting before.
“We should click a picture. As a memory, 6 foot Cindrella” You suggested.
Mingyu looked at you, smiling with his eyes, before agreeing with you.
You asked for a Corsican to click your picture on your digital camera
He stood next you, wrapped his arm around your shoulder, and holding two bottles of beer, you guys smiled for the picture.
Spending half a day with this Cindrella, drinking and driving around the town alone, made you feel so much better.
You didn't know this guy or his name. But what you did know is that he was already giving everything he had to you, even without knowing you.
Though at that moment you both were fighting internal battles with your ownselfs, you both didn't show it on your faces.
Probably leaving out all your worries behind and being in the moment, even if it was with a stranger, healed something in both of you that had been broken.
The picture you took was very near to your heart, for many reasons, one of them being the look Cindrella has on his face. The look of love towards you.
This 6 foot Cindrella was really something else. You knew this trip was going to be the most memorable out of all.
flashback over (2055)
Back in the present, your daughter looked up at the two of you. “Did you know you were in love?”
You blinked. “Then?”
Mingyu rubbed his neck. “Maybe yes, maybe no. We both were going through rough patches in our lifes and past relationships.”
“Wait— relationships?!? This was not your couple's trip?” Sora questioned being slightly amused and confused.
You smiled, “No.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s a long story.”
Your son scrolled further. “There are more photos…”
“Don’t go too far,” Mingyu warned. “Some are… not child-friendly.”
The kids groaned in unison.
You resumed your moving work, when you looked up and caught Mingyu’s eye.
“Still my favorite trip,” he said.
“I threw up on your sneakers.”
“Still my favorite.” He grinned.
“Are y'all saying that you weren't dating when you went to this trip?” Inho, questioned this time.
“No, sweetie. We didn't even know eachother.” You replied with a smile.
“I—” Sora clearly confused, questioned Mingyu, “Dad, how did you meet mom? ”
wonwoo was sitting on his gaming chair, playing games with scoups on the other side. a few curse words left when he thought that he was about to lose. his hair was messy under the gaming headphones he wore, and his glasses on the bridge of his nose.
you just got off a facetime call with your best friend. you wore his hoodie which was loose on you, and covered your entire torso, with some pajama pants, the weather was chilly and pleasant giving a sense that winter was arriving.
you gave wonwoo a small smile when you entered the room. you sat on the bed, scrolling through pinterest when suddenly an idea gushed into your mind. "wonu, can i style your hair?"
he froze, slighty moving his headphones to the side and turned back to you "what?". "you walked towards him grinning and holding your phone up, you showed him what was on the screen.
"i really wanna try this hair style on you! can i please do that? please, pretty please. only once plea-" before you could complete your plea, he sighed and nodded his head.
he put the headphones back on and continued playing his game, knowing that even if he said no to you, (which he never does) you're still gonna do that. you did a happy little dance and hopped towards the bathroom to grab all the stuff you need.
after 30-40 minutes later, you clapped your hands and wonwoo smiled, keeping his phone down. he was done playing games long ago, but sat still until you finished what you were doing.
he chuckled lightly looking at himself and the hairstyle which you did on his silky hair, in the mirror which you gave him while you kept your stuff away. you started laughing with him at your silliness.
he adored you while you were still laughing and clicking his pics for teasing him later. that's when he realised, you were going to be the one for him.

synopsis: your kids, upon finding the picture of you and your husband, curiously asked their father about how he met their mother. you both decide to tell them everything. everything. even how he held you close, when he thought you'd get away.
the keys rattled against the door, signaling your arrival from work. even though your husband had his day off, you still had to go for your 7-hour work shift today. your day at work was vile, causing you to be extremely tired and anxious. you looked like you could cry any minute now.
but you still smiled when you saw shua making you dinner. "hi. how was work, darling?" he asked in a sweet voice. you shrugged keeping your bag on the chair and walking towards the refrigerator to get a glass of water.
he turned off the stove and looked at you, patiently waiting for you to answer his question. "you look tired, darling. do you need anything?" you shrugged, not answering his question. "baby, use your words, please." he requested softly, while walking towards you.
you immediately hugged him and started crying. you yourself did not know why you were crying. was it because of how bad your manager treated you, or because of your workload?
josh neither asked you why you were crying nor did he loosen his grip on your waist. he held you close till you finally stopped crying. one thing you always were sure about was that joshua would never be the one to let you suffer anything alone.
after your small breakdown no one uttered a word. but him being a gentleman and your sweet husband, he helped you unwind. after dinner (where you almost ate nothing), he picked you up and helped you in the bed.
not even for a second did he leave you when you again had a small breakdown on the bed. he held you close, whispering encouraging words and sweet nothings in your ear to calm you down.
when you finally calmed down, tears still ran down your face, joshua kissed all of your tears away, which he always did whenever you cried, making you fall for him even more.
he played with your hair until you finally slept hearing his soft heartbeats. he felt really bad for how vile your work was but he made sure you weren't going through it alone. he was always there for and with you.

You sat on the dining table, near the kitchen, with a dim overhead light, eating store bought ramen, again. You missed him, ofcourse you did, he was your boyfriend.
Jeonghan being gone to military should be normal, since you both knew he would have to go. But his enlistment was on the same day as your birthday! Its been two years since he has been enlisted and he would still refuse to tell you when he'd comeback.
Those two years felt like 20 centuries. You and Jeonghan had been dating for 7 years without it being noticed by the media. His enlistment affected the "most" to his fans, or as they thought so, but only you knew how you held yourself together for those two years.
For the last three days, Jeonghan was out of your reach. You couldn't contact him, nor did you know any proper method of contacting your love. Worry ate you up, and once again the sleepless nights begun— same as the former onces, just when he was enlisted.
The door bell rang, flinching you out of your thoughts. You set down the spoon, which was in your hand and got up with a sigh.
You walked towards the main door and switched on the lights of the living room, on your way. A small gasp let out of your mouth seeing Seungcheol and Dino on the other side of the door.
You made way for them to enter your apartment. "Seungcheol, Dino what are you guys doing here?" A small hint of surprise was evident in your voice, as they made themselves at home.
"We just stopped by, Noona. Do you have something to eat, I'm starving." He replied, already walking towards the kitchen cabinet to find something for him to eat.
"There might be some snacks." You muttered, sitting down next to Seungcheol. Your ramen long forgotten on the dinning table, itself.
"There is a surprise for you." Seungcheol announced, on the arrival of Dino with a bag of chips in his hands. "A surprise! For me?" Surprise clearly evident in your voice now.
"Yea. Also, Happy Birthday, Y/n." He said leaning for in for a hug. You thanked him, not before Dino engulfing you in a hug too. You were pretty close with Jeonghan's members, so physical contact was normal in your friendship.
"What surprise?" You reminded Seungcheol. He smiled at you and patted your head, making his way towards the main door. While walking he shoved his phone in his pocket, ignoring your confused look at his action.
He opened the door and, "I'm back home, love." A sweet voice made its way to your ears.
Tears sprung in your eyes as you couldn't believe who was in front of you. Jeonghan ran towards you, throwing his military bag on the ground. Seungcheol and Dino, with a smile on their faces saw the scene unfold before thier eyes.
Jeonghan picked you up from your couch and held you tight by your waist. You head buried in his shoulder and your feet tangled near his waist.
He took in your smell and let out a sigh of relief when he finally held you. He set you down on your feet and slowly wiped away the tear which raced below your cheeks. "Hannie." You said softly, hugging him again.
He rested his chin on your shoulder, closing his eyes, ran his hand through your silky hair. "I am back. Forever." He smiled.
Detaching from the hug, he placed a kiss on your lips, cheeks, eyes, everywhere.
"This is your surprise, Y/n." Seungcheol smiled, still standing near the door. You smiled back at him, obviously loving his "surprise".
"Happy Birthday, love." Jeonghan said before crashing his lips to yours, again. Seungcheol and Dino left your apartment, letting you both to be. And, obviously Dino took your chips' packet with him.

The moment you step into your apartment, the lights flickered on, and a familiar, sweet voice called you out.
“Happy Birthday, love.”
You barely have time to register what’s happening before Jeonghan is in front of you, grinning like he’s been waiting for this moment all day.
The apartment isn’t filled with extravagant decorations, no balloons or a big party—just a cozy setup with fairy lights strung along the walls, a homemade cake sitting on the table, and your favorite takeout neatly arranged beside it.
It’s so Jeonghan, simple yet thoughtful, like he knows exactly what would make you feel special without overwhelming you.
Your heart swells as he steps closer, his hands finding their way to your waist. “How does it feel to be another year older?” he teases, trying to find your eyes as you register everything.
You huff, playfully rolling your eyes. “How does it feel to date someone another year older?” You answered back with the same tease.
He hums, pretending to think. “Hmm, well, I think it just means I have to love you even more than I did last year.”
You laugh, shaking your head at his cheesiness, but before you can say anything else, he’s pulling you into a slow, lingering hug. His arms wrap around you securely, his chin resting on your shoulder as he whispers, “I’m so happy you exist.”
And just like that, any exhaustion, any worries from the day melt away. You close your eyes, breathing him in, feeling the rhythm of his heartbeat against yours.
After a moment, he pulls back slightly, just enough to look into your eyes. “Okay, birthday star,” he grins, tugging you toward the table, “make a wish.”
You glance at the cake, the soft glow of the candles reflecting in his eyes. But as you look at him—at the way he’s watching you so fondly, so full of love—you realize you don’t need a wish.
Because everything you could ever want is already right here.
But Jeonghan, patiently waits. “Go on,” he encourages, nudging you slightly. “Even if you don’t need a wish, you should still make one.”
You sigh dramatically, closing your eyes. And after a few seconds, you blow out the candles, letting the warm flicker of light fade into the dim glow of the room.
Jeonghan claps softly, clearly pleased with himself. “Good. Now, let’s eat before the food gets cold.”
You don’t argue as he pulls you into a chair, opening the takeout containers with practiced ease. The two of you fall into familiar conversation, him teasing you about getting older, you throwing it right back at him, laughter filling the space between bites of your favorite meal. It’s simple, but it’s perfect.
After dinner, Jeonghan suddenly perks up, reaching behind him. “Oh, before I forget—your present.”
You blink as he hands you a neatly wrapped box, tied with a delicate ribbon. “You didn’t have to get me anything,” you say, even as your fingers carefully untie the bow.
He snorts. “Of course I did. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn’t?”
Inside the box is a small, silver bracelet with a tiny charm dangling from it, a familiar shape that makes your heart ache in the best way. It’s a delicate, engraved star, an inside joke between the two of you from one of your first dates.
You run your fingers over the charm, looking up at him. “Hannie…”
He shrugs, but there’s a warmth in his gaze that gives him away. “I just thought it suited you and all my love for you, my little star."
Your chest tightens, “It’s perfect,” you whisper.
His smile softens, and without missing a beat, he reaches over, carefully clasping the bracelet around your wrist. His fingers linger, tracing over your skin before he looks back up at you. “You like it?”
“I love it.”
His grin returns, bright and teasing. “Good. Now, let’s move on to the second part of your gift.”
You raise an eyebrow. “There’s more?”
He leans in closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. “Yep. And this one… is a surprise.”
Before you can ask, he suddenly scoops you up into his arms, effortlessly carrying you toward the couch. You yelp in protest, but he just laughs, plopping down and pulling you onto his lap.
“You are another year older now,” he muses, arms wrapping around your waist. “Maybe I should start carrying you around more often. Wouldn’t want you hurting yourself.”
You swat at his chest, but he catches your hand easily, pressing a soft kiss to your knuckles. “Thank you, Hannie,” you murmur, your voice quieter now, more sincere. “For all of this.”
His teasing demeanor softens instantly. “Anything for you,” he says simply, tucking a stray piece of hair behind your ear.
And as he leans in, his lips meeting yours in a slow, lingering kiss, you know there’s nowhere else you’d rather be.
Because with Jeonghan, every birthday—every moment—feels like a wish come true.
