Ben Wolfe // "So Lovely" // From Here I See
Jazz has been a genre I've never been able to perform. It is one of the greatest kinds of music ever made in the world, and I believe there are so few artists who know how to perform jazz even remotely well enough to be considered "great". But, unfortunately, I do not know enough about jazz to name any of these artists. So I bring you a song I found from a Spotify playlist.
It's a good instrumental to wake up to, I'll tell you that much.
my bro-in-law, benjamin wolfe, took this photo of three different types of ohio wildflowers (yellow trout-lily, hepatica, and spring beauty) growing out of single hole in a tree!
he submitted it to a contest on facebook, where you can vote for your favorite of 10 ohio wildflower photos by simply liking the photo you choose (though you have to be logged in, i guess?), and the winner gets a privately-guided tour through a state park. ben would LOVE that, so if you want to vote in the contest, please consider supporting this little photo.
oh, and the voting ends on friday, at 5:00 pm EST!

I define this as a desire to believe a convenient lie rather than address an inconvenient truth. Because when we accept a premise at face value, we make it an individual truth whether it is true or false. It is only by keeping an open mind...being mindful that we are all of us fallible...and hearing dissenting views that our own arguments become stronger and our actions more effective at addressing the difficult issues we face in the world today..

Well, well ,well…What a difference a year makes…
Last year this time we jazz lovers were once again fending off the usual spate of “Jazz is Dead” announcements from various “serious” publications and also from a satirical “writer” named Django Gold, who thought it would be funny to pen an article, purporting to be Sonny Rollins, claiming to hate jazz.
Now, perhaps because jazz has proven to have…
