My legs and left hip started aching last night, so I decided to turn off my alarm, get as much sleep as possible, and push my workout to later in the evening. It meant bailing on mock mini interviews for PATCH, but it was a sensible, good choice since I've been pretty stressed out lately.
The whole idea that you're just an "athlete" there to "execute your plan" in the gym is ridiculous, because you bring your entire self wherever you go- your thoughts, your dreams, your aspirations, your tiredness, your work ethic, your physical and mental state, etc. So whoever you are for that hour, hour and a half is still you, and other components of your life may very well bleed into your session, no matter how hard you try to keep them out. I actually was a bit frazzled today outside the gym, and managed to find my inner calm while there. Which is funny because I'd considered skipping the session entirely, and making myself even more out of balance by zeroing in on stupid academic stuff. I cannot try to take shortcuts with such an important part of my life. It's stupid and silly to think I even second guessed myself. Because look what magic happens when you're there.
Grace (4:10) vs 6:35 last attempt 2/08/13
30 Clean and Jerks (95 lb)
Split: 6/5/4/3/2/2/1/2/1/*plate bounced off*/2/2
3RM Strict Press (80 lb) with stellar form
Grace's Killer Alter Ego (4:33)
30 Strict Press @75% 3RM (55 lb)
every 0:30, 5 Bent Over Rows
My leg muscles are definitely uneven. I hope it's a result of and not a reason for my hip issues. Does anyone know anything about that?
Shaved over 2:00 off of Grace, yay. I still feel like I gamed it a bit, since that rep scheme of descending from sets of 6 was too broken up for me from the start. I should have definitely done 6/6/6 and kept it in larger sets of 3ish throughout.
And the plate falling nearly off was just bad luck. Might have been sub 4:00 otherwise, sigh.
