Sweaters

The second or third time I saw Final Reckoning, when we first see Ethan on the DC-3, I thought to myself: is he wearing Benji’s sweater right now?

The next time I disappointed myself by figuring out that it was not Beni’s sweater. So: sweaters.

Side note: did I look though all the theaters near me and all the showtimes to find the one with the least tickets sold so I could do this? Maybe.

This is Benji.

It’s hard to tell based on the color timing of this scene, but I’m pretty sure this is brown. It is a seed stitch sweater with ribbed bands and drop shoulders. There are also buttons on the shoulder, behind the seam line, at least on the left side. I don’t think there’s ever really a clear view of the right side.

Edit to add: I noticed after posting that one of my pictures does show the right shoulder, no buttons. Some research suggests this is a relatively common design feature in historical or nautical themed garments. The buttons would be on the left to make it easier for a right handed person to do up.

This is Ethan.

His sweater is gray. It is a turtleneck with a ribbed neck. The body is stockinette and the sleeves are something complicated. Like half raglan half drop shoulder?

And for completeness:

Paris is almost never in the foreground and Degas moves a lot. Paris’s sweater is raglan sleeve and looks fuzzy. Degas is waffle knit. Both gray turtlenecks.
