Jake and Bradley are exes but not in the common way—
—they got married when they met in Vegas one night when Jake was there celebrating his 21st birthday and Bradley was there for a bachelor's party.
They met at a bar and got to talking, spending most of the evening and much of the night learning the most mundane, simple things about one another without giving overtly personal info besides their names.
And then, drunk as a skunk and Not good at making big life choices, they decide to get married.
They find a 24 hour chapel, fill out the paperwork with shaky chicken scratch and stumbling down the aisle, giggling and falling into one another.
They go back to Jake's hotel since he was alone, and spend the rest of their night lost in each other. Passing out soon after and then waking the following morning with confusion and uncertainty, surprised about what happened and how little they know about one another.
Bradley has new orders and cant imagine keeping this relationship (if you can call it that) going for very long, no matter how much of a connection they share. Jake is just about to go to flight school as well so he agrees to get their new marriage annulled, simple and easy.
They make fleeting promises to meet up again to have dinner some other time, but with no concrete planning the idea falls to the wayside as their lives take off in (slightly different but not that different) paths.
And its fine. Bradley sometimes thinks about his husband for a day Jake, who smiles with a cute head tilt and gentle green eyes, wicked sharp tongue and compact muscles. But its all just reminiscent. What're the chances he'd ever see him again anyway?
Then they get ordered to North island for the mission and Bradley wanders in to the bar and spots Jake, and god does he look good.
Bradley vows to get that dinner by the end of this assignment, so help him god.
