Regarding the ask post, I wanna know about some more of your favourite headcanons about the maze runner characters! :D (also please don't mind that I just had to re-follow you, tumblr sometimes randomly makes you unfollow people when it messes up a bit)

oooo let’s goo!! this is actually so exciting so here are my weirdly specific headcanons

in regards to characters:

- thomas is SEVERELY touch-deprived. so he acts like he doesn’t need/want physical affection. but then when someone does something as simple as touch his back or his hand he just c r u m b l e s

- minho is soooo smooth when friend flirting. when it comes to actual love interests, though? he’s clumsy and embarrasses himself but it’s adorable

- minho would 100% be a jock in a modern au. but not a bad one. just like a dudebro

- newt runs his hand through his hair all the goddamn time. he can’t help it

- left handed minho

- ambidextrous newt

- minho’s favourite animals are snakes. yes i’m projecting

- hufflepuff newt, gryffindor thomas, slytherin minho, slytherin teresa

in regards to ships/dynamics:

- newtmas!!! height!!! difference!!!

- newt is Much taller than thomas. i will take the one (1) inch tbs has on dylan and use it as an excuse to make the height difference gigantic. 

- adding onto that, newt loves making fun of thomas being short. thomas pretends he doesn’t like it but he secretly loves being shorter bc Forehead Kisses, standing up on his tippy toes to kiss newt, cuddles that fit Just Right, newt leaning down to pull him up into a hug or a kiss

- sonya catches onto newt’s teasing and also starts making fun of thomas’ height even though she’s shorter than him

- soniet!!! always. no matter what. soniet is just a thing

- benho. i have my reasons for this. trust me.

- (those reasons are the stan gladers on twitter)

- newt and teresa would be such powerful besties and if i ever get back into writing i WILL make them partners in crime

the thing about newtmas or any other the maze runner ship is that they’re so loveable and so versatile that you could put them into any universe and it would work. they’re just the kind of characters who will never grow dull, and i think that’s kudos to the fandom for keeping them interesting and putting them in new worlds and giving them personalities when they don’t have the screentime for one.

i feel like james dashner and wes ball gave them to us as little embryo’s with so much potential, but we’re the ones who’ve developed them into the people we can find comfort in, no matter the universe or the setup or the relationship.

some examples:

newt and thomas as pirates, rivals to lovers, crossing an ocean to find the treasure and fighting on the decks of the ship to decide who claims it, only to end up falling in love at the blade of each others sword.

ben and minho as school teachers, secret relationship, where minho is the teacher who hypes up the kids and ben is the one who has to keep them all (including minho) in some sort of order.

sonya and harriet as farmers, cottagecore, who look after the animals and grow their own food, braiding each others hair and dancing through fields of golden wheat before the harvest.

no matter what universe you put them in, there’s always a different story to tell. and that’s what i love and will continue to love about the maze runner series, because we keep it new and fresh and interesting, no matter how long we’ve been here. and i think that’s the beauty of it, really.
