After losing to Conrad, Berias left King Saralegui to train harder, he got some more muscles, changed his name and then joined Arslan in his quest. See, he trained so hard, he even lost some hair!
I think Sara has a massive sweet tooth but he’s embarrassed about it because he thinks it’s childish. So, to hide it from the nobles, he has little pockets sewn on the inside of his clothes where he can hide candies. That way, he can eat sweets throughout the day without anyone knowing. The only person who knows is Berias because he’s the one who put the pockets in Sara’s clothes.
Also, several times a week, he sends Berias into town to pick up candies at his favourite sweet shop. The shop owner doesn’t know who Berias really is. He only knows him as his best customer: the soldier who buys lots of candies for his son.
