deadline /2023/01/greg-berlanti-new-overall-deal-warner-bros-television-1235211523/ Could you explain Berlanti's new deal, please? Because it sounds to me like he's still locked to an overall with a % of profits rather than the large upfront cash that he usually got in the past. A great deal, but still needs polishing for pr. Meanwhile, Goob seems to think Berlanti is Jensen's kingmaker puppet at WB and will help Chaos do abs whatever it wants, including a TW renewal on Max, post strike. HUH??!!
Link. This is just a puff piece. The better article is here. The jist is WB is not expecting immediate rating hits from Berlanti, instead WB is banking on long term gains from syndications and/or international & physical media sales. WB will pay Berlanti a commission based on the number of sales his shows make so they're still counting on his "spray and pray" producing M.O. In other words, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Note how the second article's veiled comment about selling licensing rights to 3rd parties, just like the good old days!
LoL that Goobie is still saying Berlanti and Jensen are attached at the hips when Jensen left WB while Berlanti is still at WB. By Goob's own logic, Jared and Jensen are still attached at the hip even though they are at different studios and networks.
I may be giving Goobster too much credit because I think he means SPN, not TW, that will be on Max. When SPN leaves Netflix in 2025, most people assumed it's going to Max and it would be about the right time for a SPN reboot via limited series or movie or full on nenewed series. By then Goobie will change course and yell and scream that Walker will run for five more seasons just to keep Jared away from SPN 2.0.
