X-Berg on weekends for food is always a great idea. Two days after Christmas, we found ourselves craving for spicy noodles and some Hainanese Chicken Rice. We went to our usual — @thepandanoodle — only to find it closed. The winking, neon Panda light was turned off. It felt like a strong punch to the jaw. An unexpected, gut-wrenching heartbreak. “But it said ‘open’ on Facebook and Google!” A full-adult, hormone-induced tantrum was coming in. I wanted real, Asian-spicy noodles and no other shop would do. . But someone — I can’t remember if it was my husband our our friend @thesarahlopez — mentioned pancakes. Heck, it could have been me thinking @juanchothecorgi said it. But pancakes. Oh, pancakes. Pancakes seemed like a great way to undo my heartbreak. Also, I’m the type who moves on easily. We walked over to @anneliesberlin and all was well again. . I’ll be back for those noodles but I’ll also make my the journey all the way to Görli for pancakes. Make no mistake about that. After all, nothing haunts us like the things we didn’t get to eat and the flavours you end up missing after a couple of tries. 😏 For the record, this was my third visit to Annelies and it always feels like home and a warm hug. .
