Bernardo x Irish!Reader

This is just a snippet that’s been playing in my head for a while. I’m not sure if it’s anything, but I thought it would be fun to share. Let me know if you guys want me to expand on it.

Slight AU where Bernando came to America first before sending for the rest of his family. This would take place before the events of West Side Story and before Bernando meets Anita.

“Are you alright?”

“Yes, I’m…” you trailed off, realizing all at once just how close Bernardo’s face was to yours. He really did have lovely eyes.

“I’m fine,” you murmured.

He nodded, but he made no move to put you down. Nothing on his face indicated any strain in carrying you. You had known he was strong, but feeling him hold you like this put it in a whole new perspective.

“You can put me down, now,” you said, your throat going dry. “Or, not, whichever you’d like. I’m easy. Of course, if you’re planning on going anywhere, you might have problems with doors and the like.”

He smiled. If he couldn’t feel your heart racing before, you were sure he would now.

“You’re talking too fast, chica. Something making you nervous?” he said, his expression growing even more smug.

For a moment, you could had sworn he was looking at your lips.

You rolled your eyes even as you felt your cheeks catch on fire. “Something is making me annoyed. So, are you going to put me down?”

“Do you want me to?” he countered.

You swallowed. You were certain now; he was looking at your lips.

“Like I said, I’m easy.”

“I don’t know what that means.”

“It just means, I don’t mind if you don’t.”

Just wanna say Anita and Bernardo will always be my favorite ❤️ I love them and there chemistry on and off screen(Ariana and David) were amazing (they deserve to win all the award)
