Day Three: May 13, 2017 | Bernina Express Train Ride (1/2)

The mountains here are sure lovely. You don’t get too see this in America, unless you’re in a cold place. All these snow-capped mountains.

Now, we’re riding a train! It was really exciting because The windows can be pulled down so fresh air! And that we can take photos of the scenario in a clearer view.

Another snow capped mountain. This is one of the best shots I’ve got.

We passed by waterfalls.

Went up a hill.

Passed by this river.

And is about to go in a cave.

to go out of the cave to see this wonderful view. The city below and the snow-capped mountains above.

And tons of group of trees like this. The moment I saw this, it reminded me of Twilight for some reason and the setting of where the music video of Decoded by Paramore was recorded which was one of the soundtracks of Twilight. I immediately took a photo of it. 

People who were also in the same train couldn’t stop looking forward. But I decided to look back and saw this magnificent view of the mountain. In life, looking back at memories or what you’ve been through makes you rekindle those memories and makes you who you are now. Lol

Look at the snow! It seems really near.

And now the snow is right in front of us! But before we were able to see this, we went inside a dark cave and once we got out was this view. Really astonishing.

Grand Europe Adventure 2024 - Bernina Express to Milan, Italy

After a week in Switzerland, it is time to move on to our next pitstop in Milan via Bernina Express.

During our train ride, we manage to catch the beautiful glacier and mountains in the countryside.

Upon reaching Tirano, we simply walked out of the Switzerland station and over to the Italy station to continue our train ride to Milan via the Italy local train.

Reaching our destination, the family checked into Four Seasons Hotel Milano which is famous for being located in the fashion district and playing host to various celebrities.

Grand Europe Adventure 2024 - Bernina Express to St. Moritz, Switzerland

After spending three days in Steckborn, it was time to board the Bernina Express, which is a train connecting Chur to Poschiavo in Switzerland, and Tirano in Italy. The train crosses the Swiss Engadin Alps and runs along the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes which is designated as a World Heritage Site.

For our journey, we travelled from Chur to St. Mortiz, passing Tiefencastel, Filisur, Preda and Samedan. The train ride is simply breathtaking, taking us pass some of the most beautiful sites in the country.

After a four hour train ride, we finally arrived at St. Moritz, a resort destination which hosted the Winter Olympics twice.

For our two day stay, we managed to book an apartment at Hotel Waldhaus am See which offers stunning views of the mountains and the town.

Next stop: Bernina Diavolezza to take the gondola up the mountains to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the glaciers.
