Rewatching Supernatural again has given me so many thoughts. Bela Talbot should have had more time. She should have been brought back. Her past makes me so sad. I never caught it the first time around with that flashback. She was such a perfect match against the Winchesters and she would have been such a good fit for the team. Bela definitely would have called Dean out for Castiel. . .what we could have had. . .the quips about Destiel from her. I don't understand why people hated her character. Also, I kind of like the idea of Dean x Bela x Cas together. Crowley calling Castiel out for having a type. . . Bela and Bobby having a conversation about killing their fathers. . .

Bestiel Moment 14x7

I feel like I keep having to rename this series of moments. First was to make it a little more punny, but now it’s because I’m recognizing that the Best Destiel "lines” are often unspoken, they’re more “moments” so here we go...

In this moment, Jack is telling Cas and Sam that he and Dean are off on a trip, they don’t say where they’re going or what they’re doing, just that they’re going out for a ride in Baby.

Now, keeping in mind my personal perspective that Cas is Jack’s dad and Dean is Jack’s step-dad (And Sam is the most supportive uncle ever!), this moment carries much more weight, imo.

If you look at the first frame, Cas is clearly looking right at Jack as Jack tells him about their plans to go out. Dadstiel clearly does not think this is the greatest idea, but instead of yelling at his son, he turns to his husband to get some answers. It’s just a shift in direction with his eyes, but he has very specifically shifted his glance to Dean in this moment. He is not asking Jack where they are going, he is asking Dean because he is trying to get across his disapproval without stating it out loud.

I watched this moment a half-dozen times and it made me so happy to see it happen. It could be subtle, because there is no cut from Jack to Dean here, it’s ONLY in the shift of Castiel’s eyes that we get the unspoken questions from one husband to another, one dad to another. And that is why this moment stood out to me as the best Destiel line of the episode.

hello hi how are you? I've missed you! are you still doing three sentence fics? Because, ugh, Cas/Benny kissing while drunk o.O

“What do you want? Cas asks as Benny stares at him. His words slur from the amount of alcohol he's ingested. Before Dean's cancer diagnosis, Cas rarely indulged. Now? He finds it harder not to partake, not to escape the heartache on the rare days he’s away from Sam and Dean. “Comfort,” Benny replies, slow and unhurried. “I'd like to spend a night kissin’ every inch of you.” “Just one?” Cas frowns, turning the words over in his head. They don't make sense. “I'm not interested in one night stands.” “Didn't mean to imply I only wanted you once. Far from it, brother.” Bad idea. Castiel straddles Benny's lap anyway. They kiss each other, clumsy but eager. Benny doesn't sit there and take it, his grip is tight on Cas’s hips. These hands want him. How has he not noticed it before? Benny marks Cas up, leaving ugly, perfect bruises right on his throat. He bites hard enough to draw blood. Each kiss and touch equal parts punishment and pleasure. “How long?” Cas gasps after a particularly vicious bite. “Too long. Was kinda interested even when Dean  first introduced us.”Cas’s eyes burn at the mention of Dean but he pushes the hurt down. Emotional conversations could wait. Right now, Benny isn't the only one in need of some comfort and intimacy.

Bestiel 14x6

Well, do you?

Again, not really Destiel, but did remind me of another possibility of love at first sight...

Even if it wasn’t for Dean, it was for me! I loved this angel from the moment he arrived!

Bestiel Line 14x2

So this line is not clearly Destiel, but it is still my best destiel (bestiel!) line for 14x2.

Jack is trying to figure out what they’re going to do with Michael when the time comes. He is very clear about what is better for the “greater good.” He understands that there may be sacrifices that must be made. So he tells Cas that Dean doesn’t matter. And it’s not these words, so much as Castiel’s reaction to them that makes this the “Bestiel” line of the week.

This is what Cas used to think. But he is so in love with this human, Dean, that it doesn’t even occur to him that they would kill Dean just to destroy Michael. When Jack says these words out loud, it stings. And it doesn’t help when moments later Jack follows it up with:

Well, that just stings. That fucking stinks like hell. And Cas doesn’t want to hear it! Because he knows he’ could never let it happen. Even if it is what is “right” and better for the “greater good.” That is no longer who Cas is, as least not when it comes to Dean.

Bestiel 14x5

There really were no destiel lines at all in 14x5, and that’s okay. I may ship it, and I may want to see it everywhere, but when it’s not there, it’s not there.

That being said, I decided to share this one particular moment from the episode for this post. Dean asks Sasha to go make him a sandwich. He knows this is not appropriate, but he also doesn’t know what else to say. But what I loved was how he communicated silently to her afterward why he was making such a ridiculous request.

If I really want to stretch it, I could say that he would have done the same thing to Cas... but let’s be real, he would have done the same to anyone. I just think it’s funny that since he hasn’t been pursuing women as actively in more recent seasons, he only has his young Dean lines but with a more mature Dean mentality.
