Cherry Sweet is a rather unconventional performer at a club like 'The Velvet Crop' with her thick thighs and plush stomach, but she does well enough for herself. The patrons enjoy a bit of variety, but what will she do when she attracts the attention of a monster--and a mob boss monster at that?
Featuring a 1920's vibe with music from the 20's-60's, a meet-not-so-cute developing into a partnership, and a spitfire, plus-sized FMC. I hope you all enjoy!
Smoke filled the basement of the dingy bar. Slow, sensual jazz music played from the pit where the band sat. Sans released the breath he’d been holding, red smoke curling like itching fingers around his skull, spilling over his table and onto the floor where it lingered. He clutched the cigar between his sharp teeth, eyes roving over the nearby tables in a show of boredom as his clawed fingers rapped on the wooden tabletop. He took stock of the bar as he waited, paying close attention to the number of patrons, the wealth they had, and the amount they seemed all-too-willing to spend. His guest arrived finally, twenty minutes late and meandering through the maze of tables to sit down beside him. The man wiped a bit of sweat from his brow, already overheated in the cramped room. The thick, red stage curtains twitched, as if in anticipation. Sans fought back the urge to slaughter the human man right then and there. Choosing a meeting place was always a gamble. Finding neutral territory was growing more and more difficult these days. When the human man had suggested ‘The Velvet Crop ’, he’d nearly scoffed. After a bit of digging, he’d found out that the man was a regular to the den of inequity. It was perverse, but it was popular, if the lack of empty seats was anything to go by. ‘The Velvet Crop’ offered eye candy for the starving man, and liquor for the thirsty one. It catered to all sorts of unusual tastes, rumors swirling about particularly nasty ones. It was perfect. Sans paused in rapping his fingers, turning slightly to speak with the man, who swiftly hushed him, desperate eyes turned towards the stage as the lights were dimmed and the curtains drew back. A scrawny woman stood in nothing but her skivvies and enough feathers to choke a lion. Humans were strange creatures. The crowd cheered, whistles and whoops nearly deafening. As the cheers slowly died down, the woman took a few measured steps forward, her hips swaying suggestively as she approached the microphone. The crowd fell into a dazed silence as she sent a wink towards the audience.
“Good evening, ladies and… well, gentlemen . Welcome to ‘ The Velvet Crop’. We do so hope you will enjoy your stay.” A loud wolf whistle sounded from somewhere behind Sans. “Easy, Tiger. Now I am Miss May. I’ll be your host this evening.” The woman breathed, leaning over slightly and putting her meager cleavage on display. Sans was confused about many human customs and tastes, but the trend towards thin women confused him most of all. He let his eyes wander over the woman’s corseted body.
“Like what you see?” His human companion prompted with a grin.
Sans blew out another mouthful of smoke, slowly and deliberately. “There ain’t nothin’ to grab.” He rasped.
“We have a few rules here, gentlemen, that you would do well to remember.” The woman on stage continued. “See, you can always look, but you can’t touch .” She threw another wink to the crowd which grew rowdier by the second. Sans huffed out another breath of smoke as Miss May blew a kiss. “Now, I would like you all to give a very warm welcome to our first act tonight, the Johnson Sisters!”
The crowd clapped as a pair of equally thin women stepped onto the stage, clad in mostly sequins and feathers. They drew out two large knives apiece, showing them off to the audience before beginning a juggling act between the two of them. Knives glinted in the spotlight, flying through the air seamlessly. Sans turned to his companion, who couldn’t quite seem to tear his eyes away from the stage.
“About that deal.” Sans began. “I think you should reconsider.”
The man hummed noncommittally, his leg stretching out in front of him as he sunk lower into his seat. Sans frowned.
“Our protection comes with a guarantee that no one west of the river will fuck with you while you conduct your business.”
The man paused slightly, his eyes never quite leaving the two women’s perilous act.
“The only gangs west of the river are small. They’re mere annoyances to Danato.”
Sans took another hit off of his cigar, the smoke curling out of the hole where a nose might have been expected.
“Annoyances can easily grow into grievances, Russo.” Sans intoned. “Those gangs might be small now, but word on the street says that they ain’t been squabblin’. They’ve been bandin’ together. ”
Russo stiffened slightly in his chair, his irritation clear on his face.
“Those’re just rumors, and Donato don’t put much stock into rumors .”
Sans felt his fingers twitch against the wood, Russo’s eyes finally darting away from the stage to look towards the movement.
“A smart man pays attention to rumors. They’ve all gotta start somewhere.”
Tension rose between the two of them. Russo knew that Sans could kill him sooner than he could snap his fingers, but he also knew that to kill him here in such a public place would be a death sentence. Still, that near manic twist to his grin made Russo anxious. The fucker was crazy. Everyone knew that. Monsters had hardly returned to the surface for a day before they’d started asserting themselves. Now, almost a year later, their territory had expanded to cover almost a third of the city. Russo’s attention was briefly stolen away as the crowd erupted into cheers, the twins’ juggled knives having snipped away the brassiere of their lingerie. He licked his lips, eyes roving over the two women’s chests, now covered only by tassels. Sans grunted irritably as the women bowed deeply, skipping off the stage as the curtain fell to the sound of uproarious applause. Miss May returned, fanning herself with a feather fan.
“How exciting! Daring feats performed by our very own Johnson Sisters!” She paused, pulling a cue card from between her breasts and reading it carefully to the sound of the crowd’s laughter. “Ah! Yes, there I am. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for your applause. Now, might I turn your attention, and whatever else might be aroused, to our wonderful musicians!”
She gestured towards the pit, the band standing to offer short bows before sitting back down and preparing their instruments.
“Tonight, we shall tug at your drawstrings— heart strings! I meant to say heartstrings, with a beautiful ballad from our very own Cherry Sweet!”
The crowd applauded, a few whistles sounding from the crowd as Miss May adjusted her bosom to pull free another cue card.
“But before I leave you in her capable hands, gentlemen, I must recommend that you refill your drinks now. As you all may know, Cherry’s act can be a bit more… interactive. ” She winked. “Please keep your hands to yourself, and do try to stay in your seats. Even you , handsome.” She pointed out towards the crowd as the jazz musicians began to play. Sans’ companion flagged down a waitress, ordering himself a tall, strong drink. Sans’ eyes flickered over the menu.
“Might I recommend the ‘Cherry Pop’?” The waitress asked in a sultry tone, pointing out one of the menu items. Sans’ let his smoke drift out of his mouth again, grunting his agreement. Russo raised an eyebrow at him.
“Didn’t know you went for the fruity drinks.” He snarked.
Sans turned his head to face the man, staring him down until he looked away. Russo might have held sway over Donato, but he was cowardly as a rat without his goons surrounding him. Unfortunately, he was an integral part to Sans’ plan. As the patrons settled back into their seats, the lights dimmed again, darkness settling over the crowd in a hush. Sans glanced towards the stage as the red curtains drew back, his eyes darting right back to stare open-mouthed at the beauty on stage. She wore a deep burgundy corset and not much else. Glittering, black gems swooped up the center and curled around the swell of her breasts, her thick thighs clad in lace stockings. She looked short, even in her heels, but her wide hips suggested a sturdiness to her. A black fur coat drooped suggestively over one of her shoulders, the sheen shifting under the spotlight. The crowd erupted into cheers as her hands caressed more than held the microphone.
A hush fell over the crowd as the slow, jazzy music began. Cherry took a swishing step forward, her black, fur coat falling in a puddle on the floor. Sans found himself leaning forward in his seat, eyes drinking in the way that her wide hips gracefully swayed over the stage, her corset accentuating the curves of her body. She lightly looped the microphone’s cord through her fingers, removing it from its stand and leaning against the side of the stage, her back arched and her arm draped over her head as her eyes looked out over the crowd.
“After one whole quart of brandy
Like a daisy, I'm awake
With no bromo-seltzer handy
I don't even shake.”
Her breathy voice made his head feel lighter than his cigars. He leaned forward a bit further, nearly snapping at the waitress as she brought over his drink.
“Men are not a new sensation
I've done pretty well I think
But this half-pint imitation
Put me on the blink.”
His fingers stroked lightly over the lip of his glass before bringing it to his mouth. It was sweet, the cherry flavor nearly masking the thick whiskey. He let his tongue sweep out over the rim of the glass, capturing a drip as it threatened to slide down the side. Cherry let out an audible sigh, her back arching further as her fingers tangled in her hair.
“I'm wild again, beguiled again.
A simpering, whimpering child again.
Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered am I.”
She slowly pushed herself off of the wall, her fingers finding the microphone’s cord again as she sauntered down the first stair.
“Couldn't sleep and wouldn't sleep…”
She descended slowly to the next and Sans swallowed hard.
“When love came and told me I shouldn't sleep…”
She took the last step, her heels clacking lightly against the floor as she ran her fingers lightly over a nearby table, the men seated there staring up at her in awe.
“Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I!
Lost my heart, but what of it?”
She walked slowly towards the second table, her fingers trailing over a man’s shoulder and lightly down the top of his chest before she turned away, halfway sitting on the table and facing one of his companions.
“He is cold, I agree.
He can laugh, but I love it,
Although the laugh's on me.”
Her hand trailed lightly over her chest, her fingers dancing just above her abundant cleavage.
“I'll sing to him, each spring to him,
And long for the day when I'll cling to him.”
Her arm hugged around herself, accentuating her chest as she leaned ever so slightly forward. Sans’ claws dug into the edge of the table.
“Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered am I!”
She stood, coaxing the microphone cord behind her as she sauntered towards the next table.
“He's a fool and don't I know it,
But a fool can have his charms.
I'm in love and don't I show it,
Like a babe in arms!
Love's the same old sad sensation,
Lately I've not slept a wink.”
Her hand came up, gently chucking one of the men under his chin.
“Since this half-pint imitation,
Put me on the blink!”
She had a sensual power about her, seductively confident in knowing that none of the men would dare lay a finger on her.
“I've sinned a lot; I'm mean a lot.
But I'm like sweet seventeen a lot.
Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered am I!”
She let her microphone cord drift over a man’s leg as she passed, his hands glued carefully to his sides.
“I'll sing to him, each spring to him,
And worship the trousers that cling to him!
Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered am I!”
As she drew closer to their table, Sans became irritatingly aware that Russo was enjoying his reaction to the woman. He took hold of his glass, tossing it back as she rounded the table to their left, her hips seeming to swivel with each step forward.
“When he talks, he is seeking,
Words to get off his chest.”
Sans’ breath caught in his throat as her eyes trailed over his form, a hint of surprise in her features. Slowly, cautiously, she trailed a hand over the shoulder of his vest, her fingers dipping lightly underneath the fabric to straighten a wrinkle. Sans, tall as he was, didn’t need to stare up at her like the other seated patrons. Her lips curled lightly into a smile as she sang the provocative words.
“Horizontally speaking, he's at his very best.
Vexed again, perplexed again!
Thank God, I can be oversexed again!
Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered am I!”
Sans took a deep hit from his cigar, the red smoke curling around her waist just like his hands itched to do.
“Wise at last, my eyes at last
Are cutting you down to your size at last!
Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered no more!”
He gripped the edge of the table as she passed him by, every bone in his body wanting to snatch her right back. He’d follow the rules, if only to catch another glance of her. His eyes trailed down her slowly retreating form, lingering over her ass as she swayed lightly to the music. He lazily sank against the back of his chair, cigar smoke filling his head again. The view was worth his patience.
“Burned a lot, but learned a lot,
And now you are broke, so you earned a lot.
Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered no more!”
Her breathy tone began to make way for a clear, triumphant sound as she sang. She took purposeful strides, the microphone held further from those plump lips to account for the difference in volume.
“Couldn't eat, was dyspeptic,
Life was so hard to bear.
Now my heart's antiseptic,
Since you moved out of there!”
She climbed the stairs with bravado, rounding the microphone stand with her hand curling defiantly at the smallest point of her waist. Her voice rang clear through and loud around the room as she belted the last few lines, Sans’ soul flipping in his chest.
“Romance, finis, your chance, finis,
Those ants that invaded my pants, finis!
Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered no more!”
The crowd erupted into applause, a few men letting out whistles and cheers. Sans clapped his hands together roughly after a brief moment of stunned stillness. He brought his hand back to his sharp teeth, wrenching free his cigar to shout up at the stage with a wide grin.
“Give us an encore , sweetheart!”
Her presence was intoxicating, much like the drink that was placed on the table before him. The waitress giggled lightly, taking away his empty glass. Cherry blew a few kisses, bowing slightly with a hand over her cleavage to prevent it from spilling out. Sans let out a whistle as she returned the microphone to its stand, her hands smoothing down over it suggestively as she ensured it was back in its proper place.
“Thank you for the warm welcome, gentlemen.” She spoke into the microphone, her breathy voice sending a wave of hush over the crowd. “A girl could get used to a crowd like this! The Marvellous Miss May has given me the great honor of introducing our next act, as it wouldn’t be polite for her to brag. Please join me in welcoming to the stage, Miss May!”
Cherry held out an arm towards the back of the room, and heads turned to watch as Miss May took a long, leggy step into view. Sans’ attention was preoccupied, however, with trying to catch the singer’s eye. Cherry applauded with the audience for a moment before lowering herself enough to pick up her black, fur coat. She swung it over her shoulders, sauntering off the stage and out of Sans’ view. He stared after her for a moment before picking up his glass and drinking in the sweet, cherry flavor.
“If I’d have known this place had a dame like that, I would’ve stopped by ages ago.” He rasped.
“So you’ve finally come around?” Russo laughed, his cheeks ruddy from the excess alcohol.
“This place might have its redeeming qualities.” The skeleton admitted, spinning one of his rings. Russo paused in his ogling of Miss May to look at the monster.
“Maybe we could strike up a bargain. We’ll pay your protection fee, but we expect a certain level of friendliness. ”
“And what sort of friendliness are we talkin’?” Sans quirked a brow ridge at him.
“First choice on any shipment of weapons passin’ through our territory.” Russo said, taking a swig of his own drink. “Seems only fair, what with us lettin’ you conduct business on our turf, after all.”
Sans held up his hands, palms up, in an exaggerated shrug. “Fair’s fair.” He agreed. “Should we shake on it?”
Russo accepted his outstretched hand before his attention was swiftly stolen away by Miss May unhooking her second strap and letting her bodice fall down to expose her breasts. Sans smirked to himself, thoughts drifting back to the singer in burgundy. He’d always preferred to receive his gifts wrapped. After all, unwrapping them was the best part.
