[08:00] Your unearthly screech brings college boyfriend!Mark running into the room, expecting to find either a dead body or an undead monster. But all he finds is you, holding your phone up to your beaming face.
“What is it?” He approaches, and you shove the device his way excitedly.
“Look!” you cry out, pushing the phone even closer. To avoid getting hit in the face, he flinches back. “I passed!”
After taking his time to scan over the report of your entrance exam scores carefully, Mark meet your eyes. His are as alight and thrilled as yours. “You didn’t just pass,” he says proudly, smiling widely. “You got a perfect score!”
“I can’t believe it.” Your eyes are watering, so your boyfriend takes you into his arms. “I got into medical school. I really fucking did it.”
Mark smooths down your hair softly, taking a second to wipe away one of his own tears. For months and months, you’ve pushed yourself so goddamn hard to study for the exam. And for years before that, you worked your ass off to make sure your college GPA was perfect for medical school. And even before that, you spent each year of high school doing everything you could to get into a good college. You’ve been working hard every single day since you were fourteen for this moment, this opportunity. Seeing it pay off for you is all Mark could dream and more. His voice is a whisper. “Of course you did, babe. You deserve it; you’ve worked your ass off. I knew you could do it.”
“I’m really going to be a surgeon,” you whisper back. “I never thought I would be able to do it.”
“You could do anything. You’re the smartest, most hard-working person I know. I’m so fucking happy for you.”
Not-so-gently, you tug him even closer to you, despite the fact that you’re already hugging. “Thank you, Mark. For being so supportive. I know my studying has gotten in the way of a lot of things between us.”
Your voice is filled with guilt, but he just shakes his head slowly. “That’s not true at all. And if I couldn’t stand by you while you chased your dreams, I wouldn’t deserve you. I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you, too.”
