PEACE LOVE ❤️ & SOLITUDE #NAMASTE
Grand Temple, Bangkok, 1978.
Bad notes for this photo, and I have discarded all of my old guidebooks to Thailand, a county I have not visited since 2000.

Tibetan Style
I started practicing Tibetan Iconometry back in April this year and I’m feeling much more confident with the practice I’ve gotten with it lately. I’m able to create more from imagination and put my own twist on this incredibly beautiful ancient craft.
This is my own interpretation of a wrathful deity. I really enjoy drawing these and find them to be very therapeutic in releasing stresses of work and everyday life.
Looking forward to learning more about its meaning and further developing my skills in this style.

London Peace Pagoda
Nichidatsu Fujii was born on a remote Japanese island on 6th August 1885. He embraced a path of peace from an early age, eventually becoming a Buddhist monk. In the 1930s, he travelled to India, befriending Mahatma Gandhi, and was bestowed the nickname of ‘Guruji’, which his followers would refer to him as for the rest of his life. On the day of Guruji’s 60th birthday in 1945, the world was changed forever when an atomic bomb was exploded over the Japanese city of Hiroshima; a second nuclear blast hit Nagasaki three days later, forcing an end to WWII, and ushering in the arms race that was the Cold War.
Guruji was horrified by the terrifying new weapons, stating that: “Civilisation is not to kill human-beings, not to destroy things, nor to make war; civilisation is to hold mutual affection and to respect each other.” In a mission to unite all of humankind, regardless of race, creed or nationality, Guruji started a programme of building Peace Pagodas worldwide, with the first constructed in 1969 in Rajgir, India.
One might expect London to have been the obvious choice for the first Peace Pagoda in the UK, but the first to appear in the western world was on the shore of Willen Lake, Milton Keynes in 1980. The London Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park was constructed by nuns, monks and other followers of Guruji’s Nipponzan Myohoji sect, and was inaugurated in May 1985 – though sadly this event was not seen by Guruji, who had passed away several weeks before. In his last recorded message, he expressed great happiness that London had accepted the gift of the Pagoda.
The Pagoda features four large gilded bronze sculptures representing the most significant stages of the life of Buddha: his birth, contemplation leading to enlightenment, teaching and death. The care of the Peace Pagoda falls to Wandsworth Borough Council, and the Reverend Gyoro Nagase, who offers prayers and serves the Pagoda on a daily basis. The Pagoda also hosts ceremonies throughout the year: in June, Buddhists from many different backgrounds gather to offer prayers for peace, and at dusk on 9th August (Nagasaki Day) a floating lantern ceremony takes place to commemorate all victims of war.
This body is a temple; I am my own god. I can't believe how much I'm growing and learning to love and accept myself. I've come a long way 💙
Follow yourself
Listen to your body. If you're hungry, then eat. If you are bored and just want to indulge with a snack that isnt a decision based on what your body needs. This has to apply to everything my body needs and wants. If we grow impatient and force pleasure we dive into realms of greed. Practice being driven by what the body actually needs and you'll find yourself doing much less regrettable actions and develop a stronger self esteem and confidence. Control yourself, you steer the ship.
