The Bisexuals
Idk if it's the bi in me but there's something special to me about bi mike and the show being about rejecting conformity because if he's gay sure he can choose to get a beard but there's no actual real shot of happiness in that scenario which I assume makes it easier in a way I'm not tryna be spicy or make hot takes or anything if you look at the numbers statistically gay people come out more than bi people and being closeted isn't actually healthy or anything irl or otherwise and I'd say it's actively hurting Mike and the people around him and you can't help who you fall in love with but yeah
I'm very monosexual and I haven't researched the stats so I can't comment on that, but yeah, I prefer bi Mike because it gives Mike more of an active choice between El and Will. Acknowledging his feelings for El were once real but still choosing Will is just more juicy from a plot perspective in my opinion. Obviously others can disagree, but it's good to hear your pov! Thanks for the ask.
Mike: I’m not a vegan. I’ve had tacos lots of times. Lucas: Wow. Really? Ever had a taco around here? Mike: SHHHH!! *points to Will* Lucas: Oh! You shared a taco with Will? Will: *looks up from book* What are you guys talking about? Mike: Nothing! We aren’t talking about anything! Lucas: Oh, Mike was just telling me that, sometimes, you two crunch the corn shell together. Mike: I did not say that. Lucas: Did you or did you not point to Will? Mike: Yeah but...only because I didn’t want him to know that I’m a vegan. Will: *asexual confusion* Why? I don’t have anything against vegans.
is this not what happened. (x)
Hi I’m making a stranger things pride edit and I need a second opinion so can I get some sexuality hcs?
Welp.
This is a million years late.
BUT!
I like this question, so despite the fact that your pride edit is probably LONG completed (I would love to see it, by the way!), I'm gonna answer this anyways.
Here are my personal head canons for sexualities of various characters on the show.
Will: Gay, Asexual
For starters, this boy is 100% in love with his best friend. You can't tell me he isn't. I love Robin, but the Duffer Brothers chickened out by making her the token lesbian instead of making Will gay. If he doesn't come out as gay in Season 4, I will be very disappointed. THEY SET IT UP SO PERFECTLY GOSH DARNAT!!! Anyways. In terms of the asexual thing, if he isn't gonna be gay, then he's gonna be asexual. XD But, like, in all seriousness, I feel like it fits his personality to be asexual. Especially in Season 3, he's the more innocent one of the bunch, and comes across as younger in a lot of ways, and he just really doesn't have the same emphasis on relationships as any of his friends. I could totally see him being ace.
Mike: Bisexual
For starters, this boy is 100% in love with his best friend (yes, that's the same line on purpose). Yes, he has chemistry with Eleven. Yes, they're cute. Yes, I ship them, and I love them. But you know who he has even more chemistry with? Who he's even more adorable with? Who I ship and love even more? Yep. You guessed it. Byler is and always will be the ultimate OTP, and no one can convince me otherwise. That is all.
Eleven: Pansexual
I feel like El is totally the type of person that will wholeheartedly love whoever she loves, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Right now, that person happens to be Mike, and I wholeheartedly buy into and support that relationship. If, however, that ever ends up not working out, I feel like the next person she dates could be a girl (especially because, yes, I could totally see Max and El being a thing too) and she wouldn't think anything of it. If she loves them, she loves them.
Max: Bisexual
That said, especially since I mentioned it in the above, I also 100% believe that Max is bisexual, but she probably doesn't realize it yet. Like, I feel like the time she spent with Eleven might have made her feel certain things--especially since she and Lucas were having "problems" at the time--but she probably wrote them off and didn't think much of it, 'cause she's probably not accustomed to the idea that she could like a girl, ya know? I don't know. In any case, I feel like she could definitely be bisexual.
Dustin: Pansexual
Similarly, I feel like Dustin is probably pansexual, but just doesn't realize it. He hasn't had a ton of experience with romantic relationships yet, and he's really happy in his current relationship with Suzie, so there isn't much need to explore other relationships with other people. However, he definitely has the type of personality to love whoever he loves wholeheartedly, regardless of gender or anything, so I feel like he's probably pansexual.
Okay. Those are my big five for sure. I know that I put Harringrove quotes on this blog, but I'm kind of on the fence about whether or not I actually ship them or not, and I don't feel strongly enough about either Steve or Billy's sexuality to label them as my own personal headcanons, so that's why I didn't talk about them. However, the above five are definitely ones that I, with certainty, support and wish I could see more of. 10/10 would read a fan fiction about any of these characters with their respective sexualities. Actually, 10/10 would write any of these characters with their respective sexualities, and I definitely have before lol.
I hope that answered your question, and I'm sorry I was so late in getting back to you!! But this was a fun question! Thank you for asking! <3
Mike: *panicking* Why would I have to come out? I’m not hiding anything. Come out about what? I don’t know what you’re talking about. Dustin: … Dustin: I asked you if you wanted to go out for lunch. Mike: ...oh. Mike: You...you said…”go out”, huh? Dustin: ...yes. Mike: Oh. Mike: Well, in that case, yes. Dustin: … Dustin: Anything you wanna tell me before we-- Mike: *running out the door* Nope. All good. Let’s go.
Mike: Anxiety is homophobic. Dustin: ...explain? Mike: *staring at Will* I’m bi and it’s inconveniencing me.
Mike: I’m bisexual and confused. Mike: Not about being bisexual. Mike: I just never know what’s going on.
