here is a snippet from some wip that just exists in the void right now:

Lily Evans is thirteen when heartbreak arrives at her door for the first time.

There is something to be said about this, surely; the way she stands, fair hair fluttering in the wind, gasps in her chest, and Lily’s heart held somewhere inside her fist. She’s like a puzzle, or poetry, or some other form of art that Lily tries to understand and never can. Even now, as she stands there with a breathless, nervous laugh, there is a poem in her movement that Lily doesn’t know the meaning of—only that it is beautiful, and rare, and apparently no longer hers to comprehend.

She says, “He kissed me,” and Lily thinks, I kissed you first.

Lily thinks, this is what it is like to break, she thinks this is what it is like to love, she thinks, this is never happening again.
