To the anon who mentioned having to sacrifice things that bring them joy:

I am not posting the follow up anon message you sent me because I don’t believe it’s necessary to reveal what it is you are sacrificing/struggling with. However, I just wanted to encourage you and let you know that there IS hope. As I mentioned, God only wants what is best for us, so if He tells us to not do something it is for our own good. It doesn’t mean He is taking away something from us that will bring us joy, but rather He is taking away something that is harmful to us. I highly suggest studying the issue at hand. Scripture seems to be clear on the subject and that it falls under the category of sin. Sin is very pleasant at first glance but the deeper you go into it, it only brings turmoil and death.  I myself have recently been struggling with a sin that I enjoyed. However, the deeper I got into it the more I realized and recognized that it was only bringing me death and I asked God to help me change my attitude towards it.  I know that the more you understand how harmful it is for you that you will not want any part of it. It is hard however when you currently find it brings joy. Ask God to reveal to you the truth about it and to help you change your feelings towards it. God is faithful and He will help you! You may think that your sacrifice brings you joy but I assure you all sin leads to death, pain, hurt, turmoil etc. Trust that God’s Word is true and that He will bring you real joy and a wonderful life if you follow His ways.  Hopefully this helps!  Will be praying!  God bless,  -Katherine <3

Zacchaeus did not change jobs.

He was a tax collector before he met Christ, and he continued collecting taxes after he met Christ. His job was the same, but his destiny was different. He now used his job as an opportunity to give glory to God. You do not have to become a vocational minister to follow Jesus with you whole heart. The kingdom of God needs Christ-followers in the market place shining the light of the gospel.

Ok, so... being a Christian, I can't say that all cops are trash, because the Bible says to respect authority, no matter how bad they are (Romans 13:1).

But I've seen cops pull crap, even IRL. I've seen what happens when a woman calls the cops on her abusive husband (not my own experience, thank the Lord) and they try to cart her off to jail because she did something trying to defend herself and left a bruise on the abusive man that was beating the living hell out of her. I also know some women whose husbands are cops, as well as wifebeaters.

I remember when I was kid, we lived near the high school football field, and people would park their cars in our driveway or block our driveway, and we would call the cops to tell people to move, and the cops came back on us. I don't remember what their beef was with us, I think maybe they tried to say we called them on a false alarm or something?

I remember a story in the newspaper for the next town over (and mind you, we lived in a pretty rural area, the town I'm talking about has a population of about 5000 people) where the cops "accidentally" tasered an old man to death, and they didn't find out until after he died that he was just reaching for his wallet. I don't think anybody did anything to those cops.

These are just my experiences.

I'm not saying this to stir up hatred towards cops. I'm saying all this to make this point: All Cops Are Human. As are our political leaders. As is every single person who lives, has lived, or will live. And if they're getting worse, it's just an indication that the world itself is getting worse, and that Jesus is coming back soon.

God is sovereign. God is in complete control. Nothing happens unless He either causes it or allows it. I like to think that He always picks the best people for the job. So if our cops and political leaders are the best He could find... yeah, it's an indicator of how bad the world is. A "sign of the times", as it were.

My unsolicited advice: keep your head down. Try not to do anything that will tick off the people who are most likely to hurt you (and I know, there's people who get ticked off if you so much as breathe the wrong way, I know from experience), whether they are politicians, cops, bosses, or whoever. Obey the laws that do not outright conflict with the Bible. IF YOU CAN GET OUT OF A DANGEROUS SITUATION WITHOUT HURTING OTHER PEOPLE, DO SO, although I honestly don't know how that applies to the political scene, but if you find a way, do it. Pray for their souls. And pray for Jesus to return soon and exact His vengeance on the oppressors, because He will. He will do it Himself, you don't have to. Pray for strength to get through until then.
