Great Cycle Challenge Canada Ride 13 ... tried racing the rain to get to my @portperrypedals meeting in Port Perry tonight. It was sunny and warm at home but of course the direction I had to go was right into the storm. It was fun watching the lightning but I had to change my route plans because of it. My goal was to sneak through the red blobs on the radar map .. that worked but the yellow blobs got me 🤣🤣🤣 We had a great meeting with most plans finalized for the September 11th ride. Fun night racing around the woods with Jason and @fraser_davidson246 .. well worth the stunning sunset at the end 😍 The kids had me hopping all night, which my legs needed after yesterday's monster groad ride. @greatcyclechallengecanada Ride 11 @marcgbbns and I took on a groad adventure .. I left Whitby and picked him up in Port Perry, where we headed North through Cannington before turning West towards Lake Simcoe and Beaverton. Along the way, we spotted to enjoy the sunflowers. After enjoying the cool air over the big lake, we turned South to Udora and then Uxbridge "The Paid Trail Capital of Canada" 🤣🤣🤣 So of course we rode some trails since we didn't need to park. That hill in the first pic is on the 160km route for @portperrypedals .. it's a beast! Marc hadn't ridden it yet 😵🥴😵‍💫 Just shy of 170km today puts me at 703km of my 1,500km goal. It was too nice of an evening to skip a ride .. although it was windy AF! The clouds were blown away after just 20 minutes of wind 😲😲 Best view of Oshawa and Whitby right there ... from the top of Townline Road 😁😁😁😁 I love the symmetry and clean demarcation of colours and textures between the fields contrasted against the blue gradients of the near cloudless sky. I chased the setting sun 🌞 to get a quick 60+ km in. I'm now at 504km of my 1,500km goal for August! Right on track. And can I just express how amazing my friends and family are? Another awesome night of playing in the dirt! And much cooler than my last ride 🤣🤣 I hit the @trailhubdurham lot before the guys madder it so I did a hot lap of Dagmar North... setting a PR 😁 Along the way, I found some baby turkeys in the field. @greatcyclechallengecanada Ride 6 and Week 1 in the books. Thanks to @teamcolinblog for the invite to join him and @the_bowkinatrix for the inaugural group ride of the newly moved East Scarborough Loop 😁😁😁 In typical @willridesbikes fashion, I didn't drive to the meet up on one of the hottest 🥵🥵 days of the year ... I rode to Scarborough to join in the fun 😁😁😁 We had a great time exploring the best of Scarborough... look at those views from the highest point in Toronto! We found some really cool artwork on the concrete barriers ... got brain freeze at Timmies (check Colin's post) and climbed some really insane gully. Colin shared this really cool stick structure! After 50km of fun in Scarborough, I still had to get home. Did I take the quick and easy way? Oh hell no 🤣🤣🤣 I doubled my distance and a bit for a total of 143km. Why?
