The first issue of the anthology Detective Comics was published with a cover date of March 1937. The title would become the stand out title with Batman's introduction in issue 27. The DC in DC Comics stood for Detective Comics. Detective Comics would become the longest continuously published comic in the history of the United States. All the characters in issue 1 were making their first appearance in DC comics.
