an; this one is a long one i lost the plot a bit and just got sucked into writing for my man. also, my timing might be a little off because of how eric kripke strayed from the comics, tried to keep my plot lore accurate, and yes i am also aware billy would probably hate the beach thank yew. i loved the way the boys was wrapped up minus this guys ending, yes it made sense yes i saw it coming from a mile away but like i am william butcher so watching him die on my screen killed me quite a bit. yes ive been mourning him like a relative. i like to think hes on a beach somewhere with becca and terror which is where my inspiration for this came from. this definitely might be a bit ooc for him but i like to think if he finally got what he wanted out of vought (killing homelander) and moved away he could've had an opportunity at the peace and happiness that he's been chasing for years. brief au with frenchie living too because even though i dont like his actor, he and kimiko deserved a life together. anyways. rant over. thank u mika for reading and helping me. writing requests are open here and reblog is a creators best friend, enjoy <3

Years. Decades, really, Billy had poured into what lay before him. From the moment Mallory showed him the CCTV footage of what had been done to his Becca, he knew what needed to be done. He made a vow from that moment forward that all supes were bad in his eyes. If the man who was the head of The Seven could get away with such heinous acts, and probably daily, who's to say the other “lowly” supes didn’t commit far worse atrocities?
Eight years of his life after Becca was gone were spent on a CIA task force, brought together by Mallory herself. He, MM, and Frenchie all worked together keeping rogue supes in line thanks to a combined and shared dislike amongst all of them towards supes. Then, abruptly, they were disbanded after a supe went after Mallory due to Frenchie leaving his post while he was supposed to be monitoring the supe, Lamplighter (who has since also been taken care of). After they were disbanded, Billy continued the war against Vought on his own, posing as still being CIA personnel where it benefited him to do so. From there, he met Hughie at the A/V shop shortly following Robin’s death, and then you came along not far after he reunited with Frenchie and MM, and Hughie was added to the group. An old friend who had an in at Vought thanks to your close ties, working alongside Ashley as a PR rep for Vought.
Seven more years were spent with Billy and the ragtag group, with two new additions being added over the years. Annie, supe turned rebel after a brief, and horrific, experience as part of The Seven, and Kimiko. Another supe who had been smuggled into the US as part of a plan to create supe-terroists, who was thankfully rescued by the group. Years spent witnessing the violence at the hands of The Seven, especially Homelander himself. Years tracking his insanity, the crimes he committed, the crimes the others committed. Years spent trying to expose everything, yet things going wrong at every turn. Years that were also spent with quiet moments. With you there to slowly patch up the growing hole and ache in Billy’s heart. To pull him back when he got to be too much or too angry (which was often).
Never did Billy see himself moving on from Becca, especially when this plan of avenging her was his only constant plan in mind. But then the light shed on you, and what you meant to him. Who you were to him, who you’ve always been. You reminded him you never wanted to replace Becca, you knew you had no place to do that, and he understood. So, a lifelong friendship slowly blossomed into something more over seven years spent in close proximity. Late nights spent in his sheets, time spent patching each other up after missions gone wrong, countless dinners cooked on the rare nights you and the rest of the group could just take a moment and breathe. Small moments transitioned into talks of the future if you guys got out of this. If you thought Billy was still good enough for you once this was all over. Talks of moving to the coast somewhere, just the two of you and Terror, since he knew after all of this, Ryan still wouldn’t want anything to do with him.
—
Fifteen years and some change led Billy to the exact moment he had been planning for the entire time. Homelander, beaten to a pulp, begging for forgiveness, a chance to live, something, on his knees in front of him. You hadn’t seen it happen. You made a direct point to not see it when it happened, busy making sure Kimiko was okay after blasting Homelander with enough radiation to strip him of what made him who he was - his abilities. By the time you reentered the room once Homelander’s begging had silenced, you saw what Billy had done. A crowbar, clear through the supe’s skull, who now lay limp on the carpeted floor, surrounded by blood and debris alike. The strongest man in the world, who believed he could never and would never die, now dwindled to a pile of himself and gone from this Earth.
You stood at the doorway for a moment to give Billy his time to come to terms with the fact he had actually won before walking over, slowly sliding a hand to his bicep and guiding him away. “Everyone’s okay and waiting,” you murmur as you glance up at him and guide him out of the room slowly, down the hall, and to the van. “Kimiko’s tired, but she’ll recover, same with Ryan.” You say as you help him into the van and motion to everyone being accounted for, slowly sitting beside him as MM takes off to start the drive back to their most recent safehouse.
Everyone gathered in the common area of the cabin that was the safe house for the past few weeks, sitting all gathered together as the Vought press release played and relayed the events that had live-streamed only hours prior.
“HOMELANDER CONFIRMED DEAD” being the only running headline as Vought officials confirmed other details. Ashley forced out of office, and Stan Edgar taking the company back over, no surprise there. In the focus of watching the press run no one seemed to notice Billy slipping out, though that wasn’t a rare occurrence. The man could be silent when he chose, it just wasn’t often.
Hughie was the one to notice first. The missing virus, the missing van, Butcher himself missing. It didn’t take much for him to add up all of the pieces and figure out the man’s new plan now that he had gotten Homelander out of the way. ‘Scorched earth’ as he liked to say. It didn’t take him long to get to Vought tower either, following the path of bodies that led to where Butcher stood at the windows overlooking New York City.
“Knew it’d be you who’d find me. Hoping it woulda been, actually.” Billy spoke up as he glanced over at Hughie, shrugging a bit and motioning to the sprinkler systems before Hughie could even ask. “Put it there. All I got to do is press this,” He held up the trigger button. “And release it. Get rid of all supes, then I suppose I’d go t’jail… or run. Something like that..” He spoke, noting Hughie’s pause and shrugging once more, going to looking back out the window.
“You would…” Hughie exhaled, pausing for a moment. “But what about… what do you call them? Your canary? What about them, Butcher?” He spoke as he watched him slowly shift towards him again at the mention of you. The only one who’s kept Billy’s head level through all of this. “Did you really think this through if you thought leaving them behind was a good idea? They want a life with you. They talk about it all the time.” He spoke as he slowly crossed the vast meeting room.
“You killing Homelander ended that chapter of your life. Don’t throw away what’s left of it by going to jail or abandoning them just because you finally defeated him,” Hughie spoke as he kept his eyes on his face, slowly reaching over and removing the trigger from Billy’s hand though he wasn’t met with much resistance anymore. Now that the man had been reminded of what was waiting for him. You.
“Let’s just… let’s just go back before anyone notices we’re missing. Say you were smoking and I was bothering you. Like always.” Hughie exhaled as he tucked the trigger into his pocket, slowly turning to leave the meeting room with him and watching as Billy slowly trailed behind after only a moment further of thinking.
The two slipped back into the cabin about twenty minutes later and Hughie’s excuse worked surprisingly well. Fatigue, probably. Relief that things were finally over for the time being. Billy grunted as his form of goodnight, slowly making his way down the hall to your honorary bedroom, joining you in the cheap bed.
“Could go to the west coast…” He mumbled after a while once the two of you had gotten comfortable in each other’s presence, gazing over at you, accent softened in the privacy of your bedroom. No mention of what he had planned to do earlier. No mention of his plan to go to jail or worse, leave you without a trace of where he was going. No need to mention it anymore, not with the way you were looking at him as if you truly believed the two of you could build a real life together. And you did.
“Get a nice little place on the beach. Mountains in the back. Could be good for this one,” He grunted out, scratching Terror’s head slowly as he looked to you for approval on his idea, smiling just a bit in only a way he could when he saw your nod of approval. “That’s it then,” he exhaled as he grabbed his busted-up phone. “To the west coast we go, aye? No more fuckin’ supes, just… us. Finally.”
—
Weeks passed, and then months passed, and slowly, everything went back to normal… well, as normal as things can be. Hughie and Annie stayed in the city with Hughie opening up his own A/V store, and the two were expecting a child on top of it. Frenchie and Kimiko went to France as they had always planned to do, getting their dream dog and living a life that the two deserved. MM remarried his wife, and as predicted, Ryan refused to go with Billy any further, so MM instead took the boy in to hopefully give him the life and the family he knew he deserved, with you and Butcher acting more as distant relatives instead of potential parental figures. No true complaints from either of you, however.
You and Billy found a little one-story beach house right off the coast in Oregon, a beach that was more often foggy than it was clear, but it was perfect for you two. Terror as well, of course. No jobs, no kids to worry about, and your favorite part, no supes. No Homelander making national headlines every evening, no news about miraculous human beings committing heinous crimes. Just… peace, and quiet, like the two of you deserved.
Billy had, with a lot of convincing on your end, started to see a local therapist to work out any and all residual issues he still had to work through, mostly the ones from his childhood. But he was getting better, slowly, but progress is progress, especially with him. You still often heard from the others, but had decided it was for the best if you all just kept to your own after everything had gone through, though made the exception of the occasional visit to really check in and see how everyone had been doing.
You had been sleeping in after a night of hosting everyone in your and Billy’s home, though their flights had all left earlier, shifting a bit in the bed when you heard some loud noises from the kitchen. Some minutes of silent debating and an irritated groan later, you found yourself walking to the kitchen, only to pause at the sight in front of you. The best sight, really. One you found yourself thanking anyone you could to receive on a daily basis. Billy, standing shirtless at the stove with a simple pair of shorts on, cooking breakfast for the two of you and feeding a few scraps to Terror, who lay off to the side on the cold tile.
You smile as you make your way over, arms coming to wrap slowly around his waist. “Smells good,” you commented as he handed you a plate, humming a thank you before following him outside to your deck that looked out on the beach, the waves crashing gently in the background, the fog having lifted for once. You sit beside him and rest your plate in your lap, exhaling as you lift your feet to accommodate Terror to lie under your chair. “This is what we earned,” you say softly, glancing over at Billy and gently rubbing his arm slowly as he nodded, meeting your gaze.
“This specifically. Not last night with tiny little Robin terrorizing our living room.” He replied with a nod, leaning over and pressing a slow kiss to the top of your forehead. “Our sanctuary. Peace and quiet.” He finally relented and agreed, leaning down and capturing your lips in a surprisingly gentle kiss for a man of his stature, in which you returned for a moment before pulling away with a satisfied hum, leaning back, and starting to eat.
“Our sanctuary, sure, only once you get your beard trimmed.” You hum under your breath, continuing to watch the waves crash gently against the rocks as his rough chuckle reaches your ears, glancing over at him once more before looking back out at the waves as the two of you enjoyed the breakfast he had made.
Billy Butcher, a man who had once been famously known for his hatred towards supes and for being a brute, was now at peace.
Notes: While returning from a party, you are apprehensive about the unknown car that follows you, little knowing that you knew the driver very well.
Warnings: Billy x fem!reader; dom!Billy x sub!reader; bad language; persecution; slap; NSFW.
The Halloween party at your friend's house had gone really well, her parents would probably kill her if they found out that she had thrown a party the night while they were away but you didn't really care about that right now, all you could focus on was the fact that it was cold and there were still more than 500 meters to go before you got home and your feet were already hurting. You could have called your parents and asked for a ride, but then they would have found out that you ran away in the middle of the night to go to a party.
The hot air coming out of your mouth formed white smoke in front of you. The road was silent and poorly lit, with each step you felt even more that you had made a bad choice, but the feeling got worse when you heard an approaching car start to slow down behind you. You looked over your shoulder, the car window was dark and didn't let you see who was behind the wheel, you didn't know anyone who had that model of car, much less recognized the license plate. You quickly looked at your watch, it was approaching 3 am. You cursed yourself as you quickened your pace, "stupid, stupid, stupid...".
The part of the road that passed through the long trees of the forest was left behind, now all that was around you was smooth pasture, if you tried to escape it wouldn't be too difficult for the car to follow you. Fear made you feel even colder, crossing your arms tighter against your body, managing to reach the knife hidden in your jacket... As if it would be very useful against a car, which was following at a very reduced speed behind you.
Looking surreptitiously around, your eyes fell on a house on some farm. You had no idea who the family that lived there was, but it was your best option, you would pretend it was your house and wait for the crazy person to leave, maybe knock on the door and ask the residents to call the police. The only problem was that the house was on the opposite side of the road from you, you would need to pass the car.
Waiting for the right moment, you gathered courage and hurriedly turned to cross in front of the car, taking advantage of the distance you managed to take. But the red car moved forward and stopped a few centimeters away from you, honking and shining a high beam in your eyes that forced you to close them and look the other way. When the light went down, you stared at the windshield trying to see someone, but it was useless. The driver's side window rolled down, a hand came out and gestured a long "no" with index finger before pointing forward, telling you to go straight. “Shit,” you thought, an icy shiver running through your body as something told you that whoever was on the other side of the steering wheel knew damn well where you lived.
Still in shock, you turned forward and went straight again, the farm behind you and your heart starting to rise up in your mouth. You analyzed the options you had, the blood that ran through your veins becoming cold with the fear that grew inside you. There was a small forest before arriving at your house, you remembered, you could hide among the trees, it was your last chance to lose that person.
The walk continued as before, the headlights of the car right behind you following you as you went, stretching your lonely shadow in front of you. Adrenaline began to heat up your body as approached the trees. When you were close enough to run, you went without thinking twice. The car engine roared behind you, the high beams illuminating everything in front of you, when were about to flee the car passed you like lightning, the tires sang with the curve it made to block your path, marking the asphalt, smoke rising and mixing with the night air. You froze, watching your last chance slip through your fingers.
Your heart began to beat even harder against your chest when the driver's door opened, on the other side, wild blonde hair with its back to you, when the figure approached, turning around and raising his head to look at you, you became even more confused, the man smiled at you when he saw the terror on your face.
- Were you trying to kill yourself, doll? - Billy said with a smug smile.
- What the fuck was that, Hargrove?!!
You and Billy had hooked up a few times, he was an asshole, but you couldn't deny that he had something that moved you, he could make you feel like no other boy had ever done before, and you hated him for it, that's why you two has nothing serious, but it seemed like every day that passed, the more he pursued you. The boy walked up to you, standing close enough for you to smell the strong scent of his perfume.
- You know I don't like you calling me that - he grabbed your chin to force you to look at him - But you know what I like even less? Seeing my girl in another guy's arms.
- What?
- If you continue pretending it will be worse, I saw you and Harrington at the party, you seemed to be having fun - the smile disappeared from his face.
It was true, Steve was drunk enough to shamelessly flirt with you today, he didn't leave you the whole party, not caring who was watching. But you didn't know Billy was there, you didn't even imagine that your friend had invited him, she probably didn't, Billy never needed an invitation to go somewhere.
- And what are you going to do if I say I was really having fun? - you crossed your arms.
Billy's jaw tensed, jealousy burning in his eyes, a strange smile forming on his lips, he clenched his fist at his side, controlling the urge to hold you against his body.
- Then I'll have to remind you of everything I make you feel - he leaned down to your ear - everything that only I make you feel.
In one quick movement, Billy reached down and grabbed your waist with one arm, easily throwing you over his shoulder while holding your thighs firmly with his other arm. You struggled and screamed for him to put you down, but all you got in return was a slap on your ass that burned along with the desire that was beginning to emerge between your legs, knowing where it would lead.
- Quiet - he said as he took you to the car.
You don't know how he managed to throw you in the back seat of the car without even giving you the chance to escape, when you sat down, the smell of a new car along with the smell of Billy's perfume and cigarettes invading your nose, the boy was in the doorway, hunched over and looking at you with a mischievous smile.
- Would my beautiful girl prefer me to fuck her in the car or in bed?
Your heart started pounding against your chest again, but now for another reason: anxiety. Without realizing it you bit your lip remembering how Billy could take you to heights, remembering the impetuous pace he always maintained you pressed one thigh against the other, already feeling how wet you were getting. Oh, God, you could hate Billy with all your might, but how you wished his hands were on your body.
- Where you think I will learn my lesson best - you finally replied, making his smile widen.

Billy comes through the door and his hungry expression speaks volumes. He grabs your hand and walks resolutely to the bedroom without a word. Your clothes are discarded and Billy’s eyes drift down your body. Self-consciously, you begin to cover yourself with your hands.
“Don’t,” Billy commands softly. He had loved you from the first moment his eyes had landed on you. Your innocence and sweetness. Your utter lack of guile and openness without cynicism. “Don’t you ever hide from me.”
You nod not meeting his eyes and drop your arms to your side. He places a finger under your chin, lifting your face. The dark depth of his eyes draw you in and you find your voice, “Never.”
Billy removes his shirt while your hands go to his belt. You look to him for permission and, once given, you undo his pants and slide to your knees. You pull his pants and boxers down, guiding his feet out of them. Looking up at him, you lick your lips and wait for his instructions.
“Open,” Billy caresses your cheek and you obey immediately. His thumb slips into your mouth and massages over your tongue.
“Lick,” his eyes watch as you lap at the pad.
“Suck.” Your lips close around the thick digit and suckle him until he pulls it out with a pop.
“Good girl,” his whisper has you clenching. “This time with my cock.” You open immediately for him to place himself on your tongue. He looks down at you as he guides himself in. After a moment, you swirl your tongue around his head and his breathing picks up. Never taking his eyes off of you, he slowly pumps into your mouth. Closing your lips around him, you suck him down all the while keeping your tongue pressed against the vein. His hands are in your hair as his hips move him in and out.
“Fuck,” he pulls himself out of your mouth and helps you to stand. He lays down on the bed with his head and shoulders propped up. “Sit.” Unsure of what he means, you sit on the side of the bed gingerly. “No, gorgeous, on my cock.”
“I’m sorry,” you whisper.
Fast as a snake strike, Billy is sitting up and holding you by your neck, “Don’t ever apologize. You did what I asked. My instructions weren’t clear. I want you to sit on my cock facing me.”
“Y-yes, Billy,” you climb on to the bed carefully as he lays back again, line him up with your entrance, and sink down as far as you can.
“All of it.” You work your hips for a minute, breathing erratically and letting out little moans, as your body adjusts and relaxes to allow you to fit all of his cock in you. With a whimper you manage to slide the last couple of inches in. His tip kissing your cervix. Billy’s hands grab your thighs, “Stay. Don’t move from this spot until I tell you to.”
You bite your lip and nod, watching as he grabs a vibrator from the bedside. He smiles up at you as he turns it on.
“I want to see that beautiful face, feel you coming all around my cock,” he trails the vibe around your mound. You gasp as it makes contact with your clit and your hips flex. Billy pulls the vibe away with a wicked smile, “No moving, gorgeous.”
“I’m so-” you begin but Billy’s eyes snaps to yours, silencing the apology. “Yes, sir.” The vibe is placed on your clit again and Billy watches as your face contorts from the pleasure. You fight your instinct to move and Billy rewards you by moving the vibe against you in delicious circles. “Oh, God,” you moan out as the feeling in your belly tightens.
“That’s it, gorgeous. Just feel it. You’re doing so good. I can feel your pussy clenching around me. It’s fluttering.” You want so badly to move. To stir your hips and feel Billy’s cock hitting deep but you fight it. Wanting to be good for Billy. Craving his praise for following his commands. “You’re such a good girl for me. Feel so fucking good with you around me. Looking so pretty sitting on my cock.”
“Billy!” you cry out his name as your orgasm breaks over you. Your body clenching down on his cock, craving the friction.
“Good girl. Another,” he says, moving the vibe over you still. With the press of a button the vibes pace increases. The urge to move, to ride his cock until screaming is intense. You fight your body's response and concentrate on the feeling of the vibrator as it moves over you. “You want to move so badly, don’t you gorgeous? Want to feel my cock dragging in and out of you, hitting you deep? Is that what you want? Tell me!”
“Yes. Please, Billy!” you beg. His words make you clench down. He circles the vibe again and again in tighter and tighter circles.
“Not yet. Be a good girl and come around my cock again. So fucking hot watching you and feeling you squeezing me.”
“Billy,” you cry his name as you fall over the edge again.
“Good girl, good girl. Fuck, your squeezing so tight. Again,” Billy demands.
“Billy, please!” your body is on fire.
“Again,” Billy commands. His free hand grabs yours and he places it on your breast. “Play with them. Pinch those nipples for me. That's it. Good girl. Fuck.” Billy’s body was just as desperate to move. He wanted nothing more than to fuck up into you but he held himself off. Enjoying the sight of you and the delayed gratification.
“Billy, baby, it’s so good. Please,” you whine.
“Please what?” Billy increases the speed of the vibe.
“Oh, fuck. Oh, God, I’m coming again. Billy,” your body trembles as the orgasm washes over you. You clench on Billy’s cock as each ripple and aftershock hit you. You’re panting but your breath hitches as Billy changes the vibe setting again and presses the pulsing toy against you. Keening as it glides over your slick, swollen clit.
“One more, gorgeous. One more and I’ll let you move,” Billy’s voice is gravelly even as he insists.
“Billy! Billy,” his name becomes a chant as you resist the urge to squirm against him. The vibe is hitting a new spot and the pleasure slams into you making you cry out his name even louder.
“Right here, baby. Fuck, you’re beautiful. Feels so fucking good inside you. Give it to me again. Come on. I need to feel that sweet cunt milking me. Squeezing and clenching. It’s so fucking hot. Come on, gorgeous, do it for me again. Now.”
“Oh, fuck,” you shake uncontrollably as you come yet again. You can barely hold yourself up as you clench and moan.
Billy chuckles at his cockdrunk girl sitting on him. He throws the vibe aside and flips you on your back. Grabbing your hands, he interlaces his fingers with yours as he thrusts. You wrap your legs around him, reveling in the feel and movement. His hips making circles as he fucks into you. Words have left him as he drowns in the feeling of you. His moans spur you on and you can feel yourself tightening and clenching around him. Your body welcoming each stroke of his cock. You moan loud and long as you orgasm, milking Billy of his own. Hearing his grunt of pleasure as he releases deep inside you.
He laid on top of you, occasionally flexing his hips as his own aftershocks hit him. When he rolls you to lay on your side with him, he grins at your drooping eyelids and the smile curving your lips. Always such a good girl.

Billy noticed someone staring. Lately, there was always someone staring. Not at him, though. At the scars. The bloody scars that covered all of his face.
Turning his head to the left he met the gaze of a young woman, who seemed instantly a little embarrassed by being caught looking with so much attention.
Sighting and telling himself that he had to accept the fact that he looked like a freak, Billy looked away and continued on his way, his hands in his pockets and hood over his head, trying to be as invisible as possible. Because that's what he wanted to be. Invisible.
"Excuse me, Sir" he heard a sweet voice and after a moment, realized that he was the one being called. Turning around, he met the woman's eyes again. She had deep, captivating eyes. "I know you saw me staring so I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention to make you uncomfortable. I just thought that you're beautiful"
Billy stared at her in shock, pretty sure he had heard wrong. But no. She was honest. Smiled at him kindly and then walked away, following her own path.
The fastened heartbeat in his chest, told him that all he wanted to do was meet her again.

“You bastard.”
The growl that came crawling out of her throat came from the basest, most animalistic part of her. Billy felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.
"You fucking prick." Finally wrenching her hand from his, she reached up, ripping his hood off, fully bringing Billy’s feature into the light.
Her jaw went slack, her complexion ghost white as Billy stood there. Knowing there was nothing he could say or do to make this situation better or less confusing.
"You-you-no. No. This is impossible. There was a coffin. We had a funeral. Billy. I mourned you. I am still mourning you. What the fuck-"
"One found me on the ground after that last mission. He offered me this chance and-"
She hadn't even been aware she’d been moving away from him until her back hit the wall and her legs gave out completely.
Sliding to the floor, she pulled her knees into her chest, bringing her head down to take deep gulps of air as Billy stood over her Clenching and unclenching his hands, wanting nothing more than to wrap his arms around her but not knowing if that would make things better or worse,
"I couldn't not take it love-(Y/N)" catching himself before he called her the old pet name, "It was the best option for me. I got a fresh start. I get to help people. It's steady work and I get to do what I love. Plus, you deserve someone better than me, it was only a matter of time before you realized it anyway..." His voice trailed off as she went stock still.
~
Watching the monitors, the rest of the team jockeyed around One for position as he relayed what was being said in the room like a sports commentator, "Ooo, he just went for the 'you deserve better than me so I faked my own death' route! That one never works folks. Trust me, I've tried." Five rolled her eyes as Seven snickered.
"DAMN!" Three exclaimed as the rest of the team broke out in screams as (Y/N) launched herself at Billy, fists flying and teeth bared.
~
He didn't think she wanted him? He hadn't even asked her what she wanted, they had never even talked about it but only because his selfish ass had gone and written the ending of their story before it had even had a chance to start. The shock drained away, to be replaced by anger. It rose through her blood stream, lighting her body up, until it reached her eyes. She knew that the look in her eyes was feral, bordering on unhinged so it brought her some small joy to see his face blanche at the sight as her (Y/E/C) eyes met his blue ones.
"You no good, lying, piece of shit, COWARD." She had tried her best to keep her voice calm but the last word scraped past her vocal cords in a roar as she launched her body at him.
The rational part of her brain knew she wasn’t thinking straight but the other part of her brain that had been wallowing in depression, hopelessness, anger and loss for 365 days was ready to fight.
"You promised. You said you would come back to me and you didn't. But you've been alive this whole goddamn time and now you're in front of me telling me that you didn't think I would want you? And instead of talking to me, you pretend to kill yourself?" Each word was punctuated by a well placed kick, punch or slap on Billy's person.
“I thought ghosting was bad but this takes it to a whole new LEVEL.” she shrieked as she aimed a left hook to Billy’s kidney.
Those boxing lessons paid off, she briefly thought to herself.
There was a part of Billy that had prepared himself for this kind of reaction. He wasn’t even trying to defend himself from her. He knew this was the least he deserved and honestly, he was glad she was even touching him at all.
Continuing her onslaught on Billy, she hoped she left bruises. A physical representation of the bruising he had caused on her heart over the past year. Growling, she kept up a running commentary of what exactly Billy was since he had left her behind.
Billy kept his eyes trained forward, as her fists kept up a steady rhythm on his body. Shoulders straight, hands loose at his sides, waiting for some kind of sign that she was slowing down. He risked a glance down and saw her cheeks glistening with tears.
His heart broke into a million pieces. He felt his throat tighten as the tears that he had tried to hold back, welled up in his own eyes.
She knew distantly that the wetness she felt wasn't sweat. She just prayed that Billy didn't notice them. She didn't want him to think she was weak. As that thought crossed her brain, she realized her punches were getting softer and softer. The rapid pattern she had been striking Billy with had slowed considerably.
"You son of a bitch. You promised." The last word came out in a ragged wisp as she felt the adrenaline leave her body and despondency begin to take its place.
"Don't you love me?" Billy's arms reached for her instinctually at those four words. Pulling her frame into his broad chest, he felt her crumble against him as her sobs echoed throughout the room.
"Shh, love, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I know, rest now. I'm so sorry, my love." He whispered, letting his head drop down so his lips grazed her ear as he repeated his apology over and over again. She felt herself getting irritated with her own body when it gave an impulsive shudder at the nearness of him.
Distantly, she realized that the months of chasing the spark she had with Billy with other men had been pointless. There was no way to recreate it because Billy was the spark. There was no way to recreate what they had because there was no one else like Billy and she didn’t want anyone but Billy.
Feeling the cold concrete of the ground seeping through her leggings, she registered that she must have sunk to the ground as Billy kept his arms around her, both of them huddled on the floor as she sobbed and half heartedly struck Billy’s chest with a weak fist, whispering a few choice phrases such as "fuck you" or "bastard".
The last thing she remembered was Billy whispering the words ``I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" over and over again as he rocked her back and forth as she felt herself drift into unconsciousness.
~~~
It was the first sleep she'd had where she didn't dream.
Eyelids fluttering open, she blinked the drowsiness away, forgetting about where she was and why she was on a cot with the desert sun piercing through the linen curtains over the window next to her.
Then it all came slamming back to her with such force that it pulled the air from her lungs. Crushing her knees into her chest she rolled into a ball, breathing into the cave she’d created for herself. Listening to her breath cycle through her body helped to ground her into the fucked up reality she’d woken up in.
After a few minutes, she lifted her head and took a deep breath in. Exhaling, she swung her legs over the edge of the cot and walked toward a door that she assumed was a bathroom.
Seeing that the door had been cracked open she hesitated, not wanting to barge in if someone was already in there. Leaning forward she tried to see who it was.
Her breath was ripped from her lungs for a second time as her eyes were met with the broad expanse of Billy's back. He was twisting in the mirror, trying to rub gel onto the bruise that was blooming on his side from her fists.
Guilt blossomed in her gut as she thought about how she had hurt him, then figured it was the least she could do to him considering he had caused her more pain and suffering than any one person should feel in their lifetime.
A whine interrupted her thought process as Billy pressed too hard on the bruise that had flowered by his rib cage. The guilt came crawling back and she gently knocked on the door, pushing it open.
"Do, uh, do you need help?" Feeling shy suddenly, she trained her eyes on Billy's feet which shuffled back and forth, as if trying to decide if he wanted to be closer to her or afraid she would hit him again.
“Yeah-yes. I need your help.” He cleared his throat, “I need you.”
Studiously avoiding eye contact, she reached for the gel he had been trying to apply. She took it from his hands and rubbed some onto her palms. Feeling his gaze burning into her, she forced herself to focus on the task at hand.
The scent of eucalyptus filled the air as she pressed her palms onto his skin. He couldn't fight the hiss that leaked out from between his teeth.
Her lips quirked up as she whispered, "Don't be a baby."
Their eyes met and he couldn't help what happened next, he kissed her.
Rising up to meet the harsh push of Billy's lips against her, lust roared to life in the pit of her stomach. Grasping Billy's biceps she leaped into the air, wrapping her legs around his waist. Billy's arms flew up to wrap around her as they both pressed their lips into each other, moaning as she clawed at his back. He deposited her on the sink counter as he reached a leg out to kick the bathroom door shut, praying that no one tried to open the door because fuck. He wasn't going to stop kissing her just to lock a damn door.
She pulled back, ripping a wimper from Billy. Smirking, she nipped at his bottom lip, then ran her tongue delicately over the red spot that was blooming there. Moaning, he thrusted his hips forward, trying to find something to help relieve the pressure building in his cock. Her moans mixed with his as she pressed her own hips forward.
Billy's hands gripped her waist as he stepped in between her legs, pumping his hips forward, meeting her needy thrusts with his own. Gasping at the feeling of Billy's length rubbing against her, Billy let out a groan as he wound a hand into her hair, pulling it to expose the line of her throat as he nipped down it, humming with each whine she let out.
Running her hands down his arms, she moved his hands to grasp at her tits, pushing them into his hands to drive home where she wanted him to touch her most. Chuckling, he ran his thumbs over her breasts, brushing the pad of his thumb over the peak her nipples made through her tank top.
Keening she reached forward, grasping the edge of his joggers, pulling him forward as she nudged them down, grasping his cock at the base, stroking it.
Billy growled at the action, grasping the waistband of her leggings, he wiggled them down her thighs till they pooled around her ankles. Kissing her deeply, he brushed the head of his cock against her folds, moaning when he felt the wetness gathering on the head.
Reaching down, he grasped her thighs, pulling them apart so he could finally, finally, dip his cock into the folds of her cunt. Throwing her head back she let out a stream of curses, Billy biting his lip as he rolled his hips forward, both of them falling into a familiar rhythm as she dug her nails into Billy's shoulders.
Fingertips sinking into the flesh around her hips, Billy growled into her mouth, causing her to clench the walls of her cunt around his cock. Whimpering, she moved her hand down to rub at her clit. Billy batted her hand out of the way, “Let me.” he whispered before pressing his mouth more desperately against hers, as he began drawing circles over the sensitive nub.
Moaning into his mouth, she felt her walls clenching even tighter as she rocked her hips sloppily against his own, knowing she was close.
Feeling her grip around his cock, Billy knew she was close and he thanked the gods she was because he was positive he wouldn’t have lasted much longer. Pumping faster, he dug his hands so hard into her hips she knew there would be bruises there.
Not that she minded.
Feeling the fire gnawing its way through her, she clung to Billy desperately as he gave a few last rocks, pressing against her clit in the most delicious way, she gave into the pleasure sweeping over her.
Her walls clamped around him, giving him the final nudge he needed to spill into her. Both of them groaned as the last few waves of pleasure swept over them. Her head came down to rest on Billy's shoulder. His hands still clamped on her hips, both of them breathing each other's scents as their fury wound down.
The silence was interrupted by the crackle of the intercom,
"Kinda pissed I wasn't the first one to get into those Nike leggings."
"Fuck off." came their simultaneous response. Locking eyes, they both broke into smiles as Billy gingerly pulled himself from her. Helping her down from the counter, he cleaned them both up, helping her step out of her leggings but leaving her underwear on. As he pulled his own joggers up, he gently pushed her into the room she had just left. Stumbling back into the room, she felt exhaustion wash over her again.
Collapsing once more into the bed, the last thing she remembered before dropping back into sleep was Billy padding into the room and her hand reaching out for him. Grasping for it so she could be sure he wouldn’t leave before she woke up.
~~~
Billy became suddenly aware there was a weight on his chest.
Stirring, he felt the mass curl into him further. Sniffing, he caught a whiff of the shampoo (Y/N) always used and knowing it was her curled into him was almost enough to have him break down into sobs.
Bringing a hesitant hand to her waves, he gently stroked them as her chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm.
Aware of the hand stroking her hair, she did her best to keep still so he wouldn't stop. She knew that when she woke they would need to have a serious conversation about...all of it. About Billy being alive. Them being on the same team. Would she be able to trust him again? There was a lot to discuss but right now she wanted to lay on his chest and pretend that it was the day after their first day together, the future ahead of them bright and unencumbered.
Feeling her arm start to fall asleep, she figured it was time to wake up and face Billy.
Feeling her stir, Billy's hand stilled on her waves, moving down to land on her hip as she shifted so she could shoot a sleepy smile up at him, "Morning" she croaked out and Billy thought he had never seen something so adorable in his entire life.
Smiling, he replied, "Morning," then frowned, "or afternoon. I have no bloody idea what time or day it is to be quite honest with you."
Letting out a wheezy laugh she brought her head back down to his chest as he wrapped an arm around her, bringing her closer to him, feeling more grounded already with her next to him.
He knew they should talk about what his being alive meant for them and for the future, but he wanted to be selfish and hold onto these few peaceful moments. He’d realized how greedy he was when it came to spending time with (Y/N) but he couldn't help it. Every second, every minute, he wasn't next to her felt like a moment wasted.
Sighing, she turned her face up to him, "I guess we should talk about...well...the fact that you're not dead." Bringing his other hand up to rub down his face, Billy let out a sigh, "Yeah, I s'pose we should."
"Don't sound too excited."
"You gonna hit me again?"
"You going to keep having that tone with me?"
Cowing immediately Billy ran his hand over her back, "No, 'course not (Y/N). Sorry."
Sniffing she nodded to show she'd acknowledged his apology. Her next question came out on a sigh, "Why, Billy?"
"Why what?"
"Why would you do this?"
It was Billy's turn to heave a sigh as he chose his next words with care. He wanted, needed, her to understand why he did what he did. He needed her to understand it wasn’t because he didn’t love, it was because he loved her too much.
"Because...well...One's offer was too good to pass up. Truly. I could do all my Sky Walker stuff but also be able to help people. It was my chance to make a difference in the world, to do some massive good on a global scale."
Sniffing back tears, she nodded mutely as she absentmindedly drew circles over his torso. "I understand that Billy, but...why did you have to break your promise?"
The sharp intake of breath from Billy caused her to raise her head, shock flooding her veins as she saw tears start to leak out of the corner of his eyes. Raising her thumb up, she swiped them away.
"I didn't want to, (Y/N). But...I had to. One explained to me how dangerous this job was, is, and how people will do awful things to anyone connected to you. I...I couldn't bear the thought of you being caught in the crosshairs or having something happen to you because of me."
"Okay but, why didn't you talk to me about it? You just assumed I would be okay with it? That I would tell you One was right? That I wouldn't fight for you? For us? C'mon Billy. Give me a little credit."
"Yeah, because you took so well to my original job."
Her body stilled as she realized he was right. Not that she was happy about it. Sighing she tilted her head up to look into his eyes, "You're right. But that was before. This is...now. I'm different. I've changed."
Billy's eyes roamed over her face, memorizing every detail of it. He took stock of her eyes, how the light was boarded up tight, like they were the first few times he’d talked to her. When she smiled or laughed, he saw a flash of it peek through only for her to quickly shove it back down.
As she studied his own face, she desperately wanted to let her guard down. It would be so easy to slip into how it should have been but there was something that was holding her back. She couldn’t figure out what it was until it hit her like a freight train.
What if Billy really died?
Now that she knew his death had been a ruse and he was still alive, this time, if he did die in this life...there really was no coming back from that. Her heart tore in half at the thought.
"Love..." he hesitated to see how she would react to the pet name. When she didn't hit him or tell him not to use it, he continued, "Love, listen. This is totally your choice. If you think we can do this, then, I'm all in. This will be our new life together. But if there's even a shred of an issue, then you get to walk out that door. And you'll never hear from me again." His heart leaped when she wrapped her arm around his chest more securely at that admission.
"I don't want that. But...Billy...what happens...if...if...you die. Again. For real." Her voice was shaky as she nestled her face into Billy's side, squeezing her eyes shut against the tears threatening to overwhelm her.
Billy's breath left his lungs in a harsh whoosh as the full impact of that idea made his heart skip a beat. He hadn't even considered the possibility. Mainly because if he did, he would never do half the shit he did.
"I wish I had a good answer love but, I don't." Hearing her sniffle he turned on his side, cupping her chin in his hand as he tilted her face up so she would look at him and know how desperately he meant the next few words,
"I just, I have a feeling in my gut that I won't die though. The only reason I made it through half of these missions is because of the people around me and...you." Her eyes widened at this admission,
"Yes, love. You. The very idea of you when I was off doing things that James Bond could only dream of," she snorted as Billy grasped one of her hands in his own, "is what made me more convinced than ever that I needed to get back to you in one piece. And if you join the team? Love, you will be the only thing that's going through my head when we're on a job together. The promise of being able to come home to you at the end of the day, to have you patch me up, to give me endless shit. I wouldn't want to miss any more of it than I already have. So please, believe me when I tell you, if you join this team? I will never, ever leave you again. I promise, (Y/N)."
Raising her eyes to meet his blue ones, she felt her heart squeeze when she saw the tears streaming freely down his face. He had laid his heart bare for her and the love she felt for him in that moment made her glow with a warmth she hadn’t felt, well, since the last time they had been in a bed together. But part of her was still hesitant. She wanted to believe him but she couldn’t go through what she had already been through again.
Billy knew that she was doing her best to figure out if he truly meant it. Sensing her hesitation, he placed the hand he had been gripping over his heart, "Do you feel that?” She nodded, feeling grounded as his heart beat beneath her palm, “Every beat is for you. For you and you alone, love. You bring me into the light and make me feel as if I deserve to be there. Please, (Y/N), do what you think is right but just know, that I want you, and only you, for the rest of my life."
Crying freely, she nodded frantically as she curled herself into Billy's chest. Stroking her back, he let her cry as much as she needed to. After a while, she pulled back, mumbling an apology for getting snot on his shirt as he laughed. Lifting her head up she realized she was right in line with Billy's lips. They were so perfect, reaching a hesitant finger out, she traced them. Feeling her heart beat harder when Billy’s breath hitched at the movement.
Lowering her finger, she snuggled closer to Billy as she reached her lips up to press them against his own softly, tentatively, like she was asking a question more than providing an answer.
Billy sighed as he brought a hand up to cup her face. Stroking the planes, he made sure to remember exactly how her lips felt as he wiped the last of her tears from her face.
Deepening the kiss, she moaned softly into his mouth as he traced a line from her cheek, down her neck, down her side until his hand landed on her hip. Giving her a gentle nudge, she swung her leg over and straddled Billy as he adjusted himself underneath her. He looked up at her and was sure he had never seen a more beautiful sight. Clad in her black tank top and panties, no makeup, hair falling in her face, Billy's heart ached at the notion of being able to wake up to this sight every day of his life.
Resting her hands gently on the broad expanse of his chest, she gave a small thrust forward, testing to see how hard he was. Gasping when she felt his full length twitch, he cocked an eyebrow at her, "You okay there, love?"
"Shut it." She mumbled as she leaned down to capture his lips with hers.
"Make me" was his response as he kissed her back tenderly. Their movements were languid, the passion and tension that had gripped them last night burnt away only to leave the love, adoration and relief they both felt to be reunited with each other. Gently rubbing herself over his cock, he reached a hand down to nudge his pants out of the way.
When his cock sprang free, she reached a hand down into her panties, running two fingers over her own slick, lifting her hand up to lick the juices off her fingers as Billy stared at her, slack-jawed.
Giggling, she moved her underwear to the side as she shifted her hips, positioning herself over his length then slowly lowering herself until he was fully sheathed inside of her.
She gasped as his hands came up to caress the bruises he had left on her hips. His touches were feather light as she let herself adjust to the girth of Billy's cock. Both of them were making a conscious effort to not rush this time. They wanted to relish the feel of each others bodies.
They both treated their bodies as dispensable when they were on a job, but with each other they gave into the feeling of being admired, of being adored, of being touched delicately and being delicate in return.
As (Y/N) let herself enjoy how full she felt with Billy inside of her, Billy rubbed his thumbs over her hips, urging his own hips to stay still. He didn't want to rush this. He didn't want to rush her. He wanted to do this right. He wanted to make sure that she felt comfortable, that she could feel how much he loved and cared about her through his actions.
In the same vein, (Y/N) wanted to treat Billy with softness. To show that she trusted him, that she wanted to be with him always and would trust him with her life. That he deserved to be cherished. Slowly, she started rocking her hips back and forth, finding a soothing rhythm as her fingers fluttered down to rest on Billy's stomach.
Billy's hands caressed her thighs, brushing slow patterns, the roughness of his palms on her skin causing goosebumps to rise up as she started pumping her hips a little faster. Below her, Billy was making the most obscene noises she'd ever heard. Moans, whines and gasps, the whole time desperately searching for eye contact so he could watch her reaction to every movement of his body underneath hers.
Leaning down to kiss him, he grasped her shoulders and flipped them so he was on top of her, using his forearms to prop himself up, staring down at her, he smiled, "You're the most beautiful woman in the world." Blushing furiously, she rolled her eyes so she wouldn't have to make eye contact knowing that if she did, her heart would explode with how much love she had for him.
Leaning his head down, he nuzzled into the crook of her neck, inhaling the smell of her skin, the sweetness of her perfume, the slight tang of salt and something that was so unmistakably (Y/N). Pressing his lips into the curve where her neck sloped down to meet her shoulder, he heard her sigh and continued to nudge his hips forward.
When her moans grew louder, he let out a small growl that made her clench around his length. Thrusting her hips up, she whined needily in the back of her throat. Smirking, Billy started pumping his hips faster into her. Feeling the pit in her stomach grow hotter, she ran her fingers over his head, feeling the pricks of his stubble rub against her palms. As he pulled back to stare into her eyes, she brushed the errant strands that had fallen in front of his eyes. She wanted to drown in their blueness.
Continuing to thrust into her, Billy felt his orgasm building as he kept eye contact with her. Everything was quiet except for their breath. The sighs, the hitches, all of it was much hotter to Billy than any dirty talk could be.
Feeling her heart beat start to speed up, she knew she was getting close. Biting her lip, she peered at Billy through her eyelashes, "Billy...I'm going to cum."
Leaning down, she could feel the smile that was playing on his lips as he whispered in her ear, "Then cum for me, my love." With those words, the pit in her stomach expanded and swallowed her whole. Squeezing her eyes shut, she came with a sharp inhale and slow exhale as her hips rose up to meet Billy's as he pumped into her through her orgasm. Feeling her walls clench around him, watching her come undone below him, pushed him right over the edge. As the last vestiges of her orgasm left her, she felt Billy's hips pumping against her sloppily until with a final grunt, she felt him fill her up with his cum.
Panting, they looked into each others eyes and she giggled as he smiled at her, looking a little dazed. Carefully pulling out of her, he cleaned them up. After pulling his sweatpants back up, he laid down on the bed, pulling her to his chest.
Nuzzling her face into Billy she sighed. Feeling her body loosen and relax, Billy started to plant kisses all over the top of her head, moving down to pepper her cheeks with kisses, she giggled and squirmed away from him. Chuckling, he placed one last kiss to the tip of her nose, “C’mere love. We’ve been apart too long to have you so far away from me.”
“Billy, I’m like an inch away from you.”
“And that’s still too far.” he whined as he pulled her flush against him. Giggling, she flung her arm and leg over Billy’s form, attaching herself even closer to him, “Is this close enough?”
“Not really but, it’ll have to do.” he mumbled as his arms wound around her, hugging her tightly into him.
As they laid there, their breath evened out to match each other. And several hours later, when One was checking the surveillance cameras, that was how he found them. Entwined in each other, breathing in and out in synch, looking for all the world like pieces of a puzzle that had finally come together to create a whole picture.
~One Month Later~
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
"No, of course I'm not. You gotta get out of here and this is the best way to do it. C'mon."
"Eight-" hearing her code name come out of Billy's mouth always made a shiver run down her spine. One time, he had growled it when they were having sex and the orgasm that’d ripped through her when it happened caused her to see God.
She had been lovely.
"Four. I believe in you." Billy pulled up short as he heard those four words crackle through his earpiece. Then,
"You two need to cut the foreplay and figure out a legitimate way of getting the fuck out of this building before it blows."
"Hey, One? Why do you need to cockblock us at every opportunity?" (Y/N) laughed.
"Shut it Eight or I'm going to let you explode in this building."
"You would miss my witty banter though. No one else can keep up with you like I can."
"Correction, no one wants to keep up with him like you do." Was Five's dry reply as she prepped the medical gear sitting in the getaway car. Shrugging, (Y/N) couldn't find fault with that statement. With a final ding, the files finished uploaded to the flash drive. Pulling it out, she gingerly stepped over the four guards that had rushed to greet her.
Slipping into the hallway and gently closing the door behind her, she rushed down the hallway, looking first right, then left to see if Billy was there. She heard a thud to her right and drew her gun as she turned to aim it at whoever was trying to sneak up on her.
"Gotta say, I'm afraid but also a little turned on."
It was Billy at the end of her barrel, holding his arms high.
Holstering her gun she rolled her eyes, "When aren't you feeling like that?"
"Good point, it's been my constant state since you joined the team."
Laughing, she grabbed his hand and started running down the hall of the home of the mobster they’d been infiltrating. He’d been a kingpin in one of the biggest sex trafficking rings in the world. But they had busted him, and it, wide open. (Y/N) had just leaked all of his documents to the FBI and to all major news sites, while downloading a copy for herself. The rest of the team had been making sure she had clear access to the computer and had been extracted awhile ago, it was just her and Billy left.
As they raced down the hallway, they felt a rumble, then,
BOOM.
An explosion rocked the building, bringing them up short, as they looked at where the staircase used to be.
"Well, fuck."
Feeling something tugging her arm, (Y/N) looked away from the inferno to Billy tugging her towards the window, "Trust me?"
"Always."
Smiling back at her, he gripped her hand tighter as they both took off for the window. As a second explosion racked the building, the glass erupted as they launched themselves through the window, body's rolled tight as they aimed for the bunting on the building across from them.
~~~
"FUCK does that hurt. Jesus Christ."
"You do this every time I have to patch you up. Why aren't you used to this? Better question, why do I still patch you up?"
"Because it's how we fell in love in the first place and you love taking care of me."
"Shut up" was her mumbled reply. Billy smiled smugly as he snuggled deeper into the chair he was seated in.
After they had landed on the bunting, rolling and thumping onto the street, they’d pushed themselves up and leaped into the getaway car as Two peeled out and away from the smoking wreckage.
They hadn't even noticed the scraps and cuts they’d acquired until the adrenaline had flowed out of their system and Five was yelling at them, telling them what fools they were and how dumb could they be.
Laughing, Billy drank in (Y/N)'s bright eyes, her mouth stretched into a smile as she hurled insults back at One and flirted shamelessly with Seven. He had slipped a hand onto her thigh with the first wink she’d aimed at Seven. Ignoring the weight of his hand on her thigh, she continued their banter. With every remark, wink or playful nudge, he moved his hand up her thigh until finally,
"Your hand is basically on her pussy can you two please get a room." Three groaned.
Two smacked him as (Y/N) blushed furiously, batting Billy's hand off her leg as Billy laughed, flicking his tongue over his lips.
Getting back to HQ, they tumbled out of the van. Voices overlapping and mixing with each other as they stumbled back to safety, everyone ready for a well deserved rest. (Y/N) was listening to Five explain the latest state of the art medical equipment they’d gotten when she felt the roughness of Billy's palm engulf her hand. Smiling, she squeezed his hand, feeling his palm press harder into her own and giving her butterflies all over again.
"That's even grosser than earlier." Seven snorted at One's comment but felt a tug in his heart at how easily they had slotted themselves back together.
~
They had emerged from the room they’d been in a few hours later, only to be met by whooping, pats on the back, congratulations being passed around and One loudly declaring how impressed he was with how they "banged it out."
Rolling her eyes she’d put her hands up, "Listen. Before this goes any further I just want to let you guys know what my decision is."
Billy's head had snapped up at that comment. Eyes widening he felt his stomach drop, she’d never specifically said what she had decided on. Feeling unsteady, he braced his hands on the back of a chair, sure he was going to snap it with his grip.
The air in the room became thick with anticipation. Everyone stilled to hear what her final verdict would be.
"I'm in. All in."
Her words were meant for everyone but her gaze stayed glued on Billy. The smile that broke across his face was enough to make her smile as his lips connected to hers, the rest of the room breaking into cheers and whoops and then disgusted groans as Billy deepened the kiss.
~
Since then, she had fit into the dynamic of the team like she’d always been a part of it. This had been their first official mission with her on board and they were all pleased with how it went. One even offered her a compliment on her competency during the debriefing.
(Alright, so it was a backhanded compliment but that was as good as it was going to get with One.)
Now, she and Billy were back at their shared airplane husk at HQ. Billy's favorite part of their place was the cross-stitch she had done that said "Husk Sweet Husk" with an airplane underneath. It warmed his heart every time he saw it.
Billy was in a chair as (Y/N) sat next to him on the same stool she had perched on the first time he arrived at her apartment. Five had taken care of the larger cuts but she still liked to patch him up whenever she could. It made her feel closer to him and it allowed them to come down from missions together.
"Would you stop squirming? I swear, you're worse than a toddler."
"I'm just trying to keep your skills sharp, love."
"You're about to meet the sharp end of my knife if you don't stop fucking moving."
"And there's that sharp tongue I fell in love with."
"Oh shut up." She smirked as a blush climbed up her cheeks, causing Billy to lean forward and pepper them with kisses as she threw cotton balls at him.
"I give up! You're impossible and on your own to patch yourself up."
"C'mon love, don't be a baby." He snickered as he grabbed her hand to pull her into his lap.
Tucking her head under his chin she pouted, "You know that always works on me, that's not fair."
"Who ever said anything in this relationship is fair?" He tickled her sides lightly until he heard a giggle leave her mouth. Smiling he pressed a kiss to her head as she snuggled deeper into his chest. Winding his arms around her, he squeezed her close. Their breaths synching up as they watched the last of the sun dip below the horizon.
Five minutes or an hour later, she wasn’t sure, she finally shifted with the intention of getting up when she heard Billy hiss.
Looking up at him with confusion, she furrowed her brows, "What?"
"You can't do that, love"
"Why not?" Shifting again she felt something poke her and let out a gasp, "Is that-?"
"It's definitely not my gun so yes. I am very happy to see you."
Laughing she unfolded herself from his arms, "Okay, sorry. I won't do that unless we're spooning and then I'll just 'accidentally' wriggle my butt around until you get hard again."
"It won't take long." The husky quality of Billy's voice caused her head to snap up. His eyes were hooded, boring into her own. The air between them thick with lust.
It had been like this ever since they’d been back together. Everything was a sexual innuendo or an excuse to touch each other. Seven thought it was because of how sexually frustrated Billy was after not getting laid for so long but they both knew it was because they needed the reminder.
Every caress, touch, kiss and sigh against each other's skin was a reminder that this was real, they were with each other. Every time Billy would grab her hand under the table during a meeting a jolt of electricity shot through her.
And every time (Y/N) brushed up against Billy or laid a hand on his back to move past him, his cheeks would flush, remembering that she was close enough to touch and he could touch her any time he wanted.
Neither of them took for granted the simplest things anymore. Passing touches, kisses on the cheek, hugging, holding hands, it all signified something bigger for them. That they could reach out and touch each other whenever they could. Every morning that they woke up, entwined in each others arms was another day that was going to be good, because they had woken up where they belonged.
(Y/N) broke their gaze first, cheeks burning as she shuffled back and forth, "Umm, Mark texted me by the way. He, Mary and Jean are going to FaceTime with us later so we better not get too heated."
"Why does your brother cockblock me at every possible time?"
"Because I'm his sister, it's practically his job."
It’d been tricky to navigate the after-math of the discovery of Billy's demise. She knew that no one knew if she was dead or alive but after negotiating with One, she talked him into taking Mark and Jean onto the team. Which hit another snag when they found out that Mark and Mary had started dating.
One had thrown his hands up when this knowledge came to his attention and cursed the day he brought this, "cluster fuck of a circus" into his group. Begrudgingly he had allowed Billy's mom, sister, Mark and Jean to come to HQ. As soon as they stepped foot in the plane, he had put the fear of God into them about this job, the dangers and how it was of mortal importance they keep their "fucking mouths shut." At which point, he had gone to the door, flung it open and walked out, "Oh and by the way, here's the problem that started this whole mess." he called over his shoulder as Billy walked into the room, sheepishly holding his hand up in a meek wave.
(Y/N) had let him have that moment alone. She figured that would muddy the waters and besides, everyone in there already knew she was alive and okay. They deserved to have time with just Billy. To process, to understand. It had killed her to wait for them to emerge from the room but it had been worth it when she saw Billy and his mother emerge from the room, their eyes red rimmed from crying, arms around each other.
Mark and Jean worked remotely most of the time. One would call them in for missions occasionally but they stuck to ground work and passed information off to One when need be.
Mary and Billy's mom kept quiet, still letting everyone believe that Billy was dead but buoyed by the fact that they could FaceTime him whenever they wanted. (Y/N) also knew that One sent updates to Billy's mom whenever he could and paid for her to come out to visit Billy at HQ when they were between missions. It warmed her heart and made his snarky comments easier to put up with.
Sighing, Billy hauled himself out of the chair, ambling towards the bathroom, "Well, come on then, better make the shower sex quick." He clamped his hands down around her waist as he nudged them towards the bathroom as her laugh rang out, bouncing over the sand dunes.
~~~
"FUCK. BILLY!"
With a final moan, Billy came inside (Y/N), both of them breathing heavily as they came down from their highs. After cleaning up, Billy collapsed into the bed, unfortunately landing right on top of her.
"OOF. Billy, c'mon." Shoving weakly at his form she knew it was a lost cause as he nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck.
"S'comfortable. You should just try to be less comfortable to lay on top of."
"How would that even work?"
"Get rid of your boobs."
Gasping, her hands flew up to her chest, "You know these are the money makers!"
"Of course I know that, love. Seven and Three know it as well."
Smacking his shoulder they both chuckled. As their breathing steadied, Billy rolled off her, bringing her into his chest where they snuggled deeper into the blanket they shared. Just as their eyes were closing,
BANG BANG BANG
"C'mon you two. Quit fucking for two seconds, One has a new mission for us."
Groaning, she buried her face into Billy's chest, "Tell One he can go fuck himself."
"You can yourself, darling. In about two seconds."
Dragging her body from the warm nest they had made, she stepped into the first pair of sweatpants she found on the ground, "Remind me again why I agreed to do this stupid job?"
Feeling Billy's hands on her shoulders, she twisted around only to be met with a deep lingering kiss from him, "Because I love you. And I can't do this life, or any life, without you being right next to me."
Pressing her forehead against his she smiled, inhaling deeply, "I love you."
"I love you, too. Also I'm so going to beat you to the control room."
Wha-?" her sentence was cut off as Billy raced from their husk, sprinting across the sand as best he could. An indignant snort left her as she took off after him, their laughter bouncing over the sand. Billy glanced back at her and didn’t know which was brighter, the full moon hanging above them or the warmth that radiated from (Y/N)’s laughing eyes as she raced to follow him to the ends of the world. Reaching a hand out, she grabbed his own as he tugged her forward into their next adventure.

the address the blond man had given you led to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. you tentatively stepped out of your car, eyes scanning back and forth across the area. it suddenly occurred to you that you could have been led there to be murdered. you could walk back to your car, drive back home, and forget you ever met the british man. but you didn’t, and continued to walk towards a set of steel double doors.
it was unusually warm for that time of year with not a cloud in the sky as the sun beat down. you drew closer, searching the surrounding lot for some sign of other people. nada. the building stood about twenty feet high, a few small windows placed at even intervals on the concrete walls. definitely felt like a prime murder location. aren’t i here to “die”? you mused, hand closing around the door handle. you breathed in, out, then pulled the door open and stepped inside the dark warehouse.
it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, and you flinched when the heavy door shut behind you. taking another deep breath, you started walking around the room, eyes tracking the catwalks hanging overhead. the only light streamed through the small square windows, dust drifting through the air. the light all joined in the center of the room, one spot free of shadows.
“hello?” you called out, hands clenched into fists by your side. for a moment, there was only silence, and your anxiety was steadily mounting by the second. your heart nearly stopped when you heard a set of footsteps from the other side of the room. then another. someone sounded like they jumped from one of the catwalks. another set of footsteps. and another, until you could tell that there were six people in the room besides yourself. you were frozen, waiting for the mysterious group to make the next move. your eyes were glued to the circle of light as a tall man stepped into view.
“well well, looks like four was right. you did show.” his voice was relatively neutral, and he spoke fast. he had close-cropped, light brown hair, and a short beard; a few gray hairs sprinkled throughout. he gave off heavy egomaniac vibes. you automatically were suspicious. some part of you was struggling with vague recognition of his frustratingly handsome face. had he been on the news at some point? but you couldn’t put your finger on it and let the question slide.
“i did. might i ask why you wanted me to come here in the first place?” he tilted his head to the side, crossing his arms over his chest. you could just barely make out the outlines and shadows of more people lingering behind him. you unconsciously readjusted your stance to feel more confident, lifting your chin to look him in the eye.
“in the simplest of terms, you’re an asset,” he spoke without letting through a whisper of emotion, a small, cold smile on his lips. his light tone was mildly irritating, and you were eager to get to the chase as to why you were there. but you already knew the answer, of course. piles of money and classified statistics would make you useful to any illegal operation. yet you decided to play dumb. letting out a breath through your nose, you placed a hand on your left hip.
“oh? to what?” you did your very best to fill your words with a mocking lilt, though it wasn’t necessarily convincing, as his eye roll betrayed. the flicker of a scowl crossed your lips before you slid back into a poker face. you heard a faint snicker from behind the man, and then a subsequent hush. they were listening.
“our crew. we’re just like you. tired of the bullshit. and we decided to do something about it,” the dangerous vibe you found on the group on a first impression seemed to be confirmed. it made you wonder what made each of them an ‘asset’ to this group, and if it was a bigger operation than just an agreement between the people in that room.
“and we know you do too.” they certainly remember my outburst last night, you thought, cringing at the memory. once you stepped into the cab, it was impossible to think of anything else but what you did and what you were thinking of doing. the rest of the night was spent on the couch in your apartment, analyzing the piece of paper the british man gave you, even dipping into the fbi database with your account to dig up any other information. you were surprised to find there was nothing you came up with except for the location and ownership of the place he wanted you to find. apparently, it had been owned by some big tech company but was later abandoned and left to fall into disrepair. besides that, your hands came up empty of all information and you ended up falling asleep while watching tv, still holding tightly to the note.
“what exactly am i in for if i say yes?” curiosity from the night before still simmered in the back of your mind, and you were becoming more and more willing to take the leap you spent the last twelve hours considering. ‘death’ in exchange for a life of freedom. it dawned on you that this man must have faked his death to avoid the very government you were employed by.
“well, this is less of a request and more of an opportunity. you can take it or leave it.” now it was your turn to roll your eyes. your original assumption that the man was egotistical came to mind again. he certainly sounded like some boys you had known in college: rich from daddy’s trust fund, filled with unearned confidence, and owner of a severe superiority complex.
“wow, you really know how to make a lady feel special.” a louder laugh sounded from the shadows behind the man, and you instinctively flicked your gaze to where it came from. an annoyed, whispered curse (in… french?) followed the laugh, which only made the person laugh harder.
“ooh, she’s got a mouth on her. nice choice quattro.” the man’s voice was rich and warm with a slight accent to his words. quattro meant four. was that a name? nickname?
“ANYWAY, you’re gonna be dead in every way, except physical. without the law to hold us, we can do anything.” the man sunk back into a slightly patronizing, dreamy tone, trying to paint a picture of the future you left your boyfriend for. freedom from your earthly responsibilities. but the cynical analyst within you won over.
“as someone who works for the government, that is highly irresponsible.” you felt almost like a mom scolding her children for cooking up a dangerous activity. the man’s smile looked sharp enough to draw blood, brown eyes growing a shade darker. you had to stop yourself from taking a step back.
“didn’t bring you here to lecture me about my poor life choices, i hear enough of that from seven. this is your chance to make the mark you have been dreaming of. now, what do you say?” another number. you had to admit, he was highly convincing. he had such sheer charisma it was hard to resist, but you drew together the best argument you could think of and forced it past your lips.
“i’m not sure… it seems like you are up to some questionable vigilante justice,” you were about to continue your motherly scolding when you felt a person move to stand behind you. their body heat sent a startling chill across your skin. they leaned in closer, mere inches from your ear.
“love, this is what you have been looking for, right? i promise you won’t regret it.” your breath hitched at the british man’s voice. he didn’t sound as confident as he had the night before, somehow seeming younger without his gorgeous features clouding your thoughts. you tried to fight back against the part of you completely convinced by the two men, but it grew stronger by the second. oh god… am i really going to do this? you took a deep breath in, out. there was no more debate. you knew exactly what you wanted, needed.
“what do you need me to do?” you breathed out, pressing your lips into a thin line as soon as the words left your mouth. the blond man behind you relaxed, and you could almost see the smile he was most likely sporting. the man in front of you nodded approvingly, rubbing his beard with his left hand.
“excellent. first step, your name is now eight. i’m one. take a wild guess as to what everyone else’s names are. second, fake your death…” eight? what? the two numbers mentioned before made sense. they were names. your name was now eight, something that you had not expected in the slightest. but you didn’t had time to argue. you listened carefully as one explained how you were going to fake your death, along with finer points about your new fellow ‘ghosts’. a few minutes later, you were caught up. you turned around to greet the others, forgetting that the blond man was standing right behind you. you stumbled, the man’s strong arms keeping you from falling. you could feel the embarrassment rise as he looked down at you.
“glad you joined up… eight.” your cheeks grew hot with every passing second he had a hand on you. clearing your throat, you reluctantly stepped out of his arms.
“that’s gonna get some getting used to.” you laughed nervously, inwardly cringing at the obvious worry in your voice. he just smiled, raising the ambient temperature by 2 degrees celsius. his gorgeous green eyes were locked with yours, and you couldn’t help but offer him a shy smile in return. you were usually much stonier when it came to complete strangers, but the man’s casual confidence was annoyingly attractive.
“you’ll catch on quick. you’re family now.” you softened a little at the care in his voice. you broke eye contact and glanced down at your shoes. a beat later, you looked back up, smirk on your lips.
“then what’s your name, casanova?”
“four,” he matched your smile, reaching out a hand for you to shake. you took it, praying he wouldn’t notice the sweat on your palm. his hands were rough with callouses, skin hot to the touch.
“pleased to meet you, four.” you responded, doing a mock curtsy once you let go of his hand. he smiled, winking at you playfully.
Warnings: Cursing....I’m not going to keep adding this as a warning. Because cursing it’s gonna happen in every chapter. So this is my final cursing warning

Chapter One -Masterlist-
erase your memories from so long ago
Alex/Eight
While One attempts to go over the plan of attack, I sit far away from everyone. But the distance doesn’t stop the stares. Everyone is staring at me and ignoring the words coming out of One’s mouth; which greatly annoys the man.
“I get it, she’s pretty but can we stop staring at the Russian long enough to pay attention to what I’m saying?” One huffs. “There will be enough time to get to know our newest comrade, okay?”
“Why should we trust her?” The blonde woman, I think her name is Two, questions One. Her eyes never leave me, however. “We’re going against the Russians, she could be a sleeper agent for all we know.”
“Not all Russians are sleeper agents.” I point out. “But you’re right; you have no reason to trust me. Like I have no reason to trust you. But let’s face it, thanks to One we have to put an ounce of trust in each other or all of us will perish.”
“What makes you an invaluable part of the team?” Two questions me. “What can you bring to the table?”
“Isn’t that a question you should be asking boss man over there?” I nod towards One. “He sought me out, not the other way around darling.”
“Why don’t you start talking about yourself?” Seven suggests. “Like for example, you can tell us how you and Four know each other? You must have been close if you attended his funeral.”
I roll my eyes before turning towards One. “Do I have to?”
“Enlighten them.” He shrugs. “Keep personal information to a minimum though. We don’t want to damn ourselves to family status anymore than we already are.”
“My father was former KGB; my mother was a trained sleeper agent from what her diaries explained.” I start, earning an all knowing smirk from Two. “Father went AWOL when I was younger and my mother died several years ago. Officially she died in a helicopter accident over some mountain range in Russia. Unofficially she just disappeared without a trace. Some say she went missing because of the mission she was assigned to. I was 16 at the time.”
“How do we know you weren’t trained to be a sleeper agent as well?” Seven asks. “I mean your mother was.”
“My mother didn’t want to be like hers.” I shrug. “She didn’t want that life for me. She kept me at a distance. About a month before she died, she sent me off to live with long lost relatives in London. She knew she was going to die; her diary said as much.”
“So that doesn’t give us anything about why One hired you.” Five points out. “He said you grieved in violent ways, what happened after Four’s apparent death?”
“Ukrainian Mafia.” I reply. “I was a pretty face, good behind a pistol and badass getaway driver. They used and abused me, which is probably why I’m here. The Ukrainian and Russian Mafias are at war with each other, hence why Russia is building something big and dangerous.”
“How the hell did you get involved with a bunch of thugs?” Three asks.
“The jewels Four was stealing before he “died” were property of the Ukrainian Mafia’s head honcho. I told them exactly where to find the treatrous band of thieves.”
“You sold them out?” Billy...Four questions me. His tone is somewhere between pride and anger. I’m not exactly sure which one he’s leaning towards the most. “They’re dead because of you.”
“They deserved it.” I shrug. “They shouldn’t have left you behind. They should have helped you. Maybe if they were loyal, things would have been different.”
Two looks me over. An appreciative smile appears on her lips. “I still don’t trust you.”
“I still don’t trust you either.” I smirk at her. “Now can we continue this meeting? I’d like to actually get some sleep. I’ve been awake for well over 24 hours.”
“And you were handling guns?” Three exclaims before a slew of curse words in Spanish flows from his lips. I just let out a chuckle.
“Alright focus people!” One exclaims. “Let’s get back to work.” This time everyone seems to be paying attention to him. Everyone but Billy. His eyes are still on me, questioning everything I shared with the group. Probably questioning everything I’ve said in the almost three years of dating.
**
After the meeting, everyone left the area. Just as I’m about to walk out into the desert air, a hand grasps my wrists to hold me back. I whip around and see Billy standing there, seething.
“You lied to me.” He blurts out. “You bloody lied to me Alex. Out of everyone in my life, I thought you’d be the last person to do this.”
A humorless chuckle escapes my lips. “You have some fucking nerve to be mad at me for hurting you. I may have lied about my childhood and who my parents were. I may have kept things from you. But you faked your fucking death. I mourned you. I watched your mother mourn you. I went after the people I thought were responsible for this. I fell back into a life I didn’t want for myself; that my mother didn’t want for me. So I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that my mother was a Russian sleeper agent or my father was formerly with the KGB. But I kept that stuff hidden to protect you. Can you say the same things about what you did to me?”
“That’s not fair, Alex.” He sighs, running his fingers through his blond hair. “Since faking my death, I’ve been able to do amazing things. I’ve finally have something to look forward to in my life.”
“And you didn’t with me?” I ask. “You had nothing to look forward to during those 2 years we were together?”
“Alex…” He starts, only to be cut off by my pointer finger on his lips, hushing him.
“Don’t try to charm your way out of this Billy, it’s not going to work.” I tell him. “Your charm is dead to me, just like you…” With that I walk out of there and head straight to my trailer. Saying yes to One was definitely not what I expected.

A/N: Welcome to the second chapter of Love is not easy. I hope you are enjoying it so far. I really am enjoying writing this one. Let me know if you would like to be added the tag list. <3
Running your hands through your wet hair your were soaking up in as much of this hot water as you could. Your back ached from sleeping in the back seat of your car everyday. Thankfully you mostly did night shifts and only ever slept for maybe five hours during the day, if you were lucky at least.
Turning off the faucet you stepped out of the standing shower and grabbed the towel you left for yourself. Drying yourself off. Your manager already showed up and gave you the key to her office, where you kept some clothes in there. Your manager was married to the owner of the store and she knew about your living situation and offered many times for you to take her spare room.
Anne was a sweet woman, in her late 50′s, she was always offering you to come for dinner and to go shopping with her, when you weren’t working of course. The store was managed by the husband, Kory on the weekends, leaving you to your own life. You were paid pretty well, so you were mainly looking for cheap rooms to rent out. You felt bad if you took up the offer from Anne and Kory to live in their spare bedroom.
Drying your hair you looked at your outfit, a simple pair of light washed denim jeans, cropped above the ankle, a simple grey tank top and a grey plaid tee shirt thats too big over top. Brushing your hair into a simple braid, you cleaned up the area before heading back to the main part of the store.
“Morning Kitty, how was your night?” Anne said after ringing someone up on the till, who just happened to be Billy from last night, same sunglasses over his eyes, but this time it made sense as the sun was peaking over the horizon. “I hope you didn’t have too much trouble, I know some nasty teens can come and annoy you sometimes.”
Leaning on the counter, two sets of eyes over you, “Oh pretty good, and no no, hardly anyone bugged me last night. After 1am it got pretty dead honestly. Just the occasional drunks, but most of them are still kind to me.” Seeing as most of the drunks that come into the store are ones your mother used to know and knew you as a child.
“I’ll see you tonight Anne,” You said while smiling and leaving the store, a pair of boots following shortly behind you. Unlocking your 1976 Ford Pinto, shoving your work clothes and bag into your back seat, unzipping a different bag, grabbing some make up to help over oh mystery boys bruise, or what’s left of it.
“Your boss seems nice,” He shuffled on his feet before leaning against your car, he looked into your car from the back window, but didn’t saying anything about the amount of luggage you had going on in the backseat, thank god.
“Oh yeah, her and her husband are the sweetest to me.” You told him while motioning for him to remove his glasses, he was only a little bit taller than you actually, and thankfully he was leaning so it was easier. The bruise was more on the outer of his eye so you didn’t need to apply any powder on his actual eyelid. Seeing as he has probably never worn make up by the face he was giving you when you were setting his face. “Okay, all done, looks good too!” You told him before moving back, putting your stuff back into your bag.
He motioned over to your mirror and checked himself out, giving you time to scan the area, there wasn't a lot of people up, since the store isn’t on the main road there wasn't a lot of people driving back and forth, you looked over into his car, seen a little redhead sitting straight but her eyes were closed. “Who’s the kiddo?” You asked him while he was straightening up.
Following your gaze, “Oh, that’s my step sister, Max.” Which explains why they actually look nothing alike from what you noticed from last night and this morning being up and close with Billy. “You should be going home and getting some sleep right?” He asked concerned. You only nodded, yeah home. Your home is in your car, but he doesn’t need to know that.
“Oh yeah totally, and you should be getting your butt to school right?” You spoke almost as if you had known him your whole life. It was a weird euphoria, the only time you ever witnessed it was when you first met Anne and Kory back when you were a teenager.
He smirked and nodded, agreeing, looking over at his car, the little redhead poked her head out of the window, giving him a look. Probably referring to, “Bitch I’m bored hurry the fuck up.” But you’d just assumed by the way her facial expression on her was.
“Halloween is coming up, you got any plans?” He said, turning to look at you, his back facing Max, so you couldn’t see her and she couldn’t see you. He flashed a world famous smile.
“Working I believe, but maybe you can come by and I’ll give you some free candy.” You returned a similar smile, but yours was far less famous and more broken.
Leaning on your car you exchanged goodbye’s and you waved to the kid in his passenger seat, she sort of just gave you a look and an awkward wave. Soon enough Billy was pulling out of the driveway and you were doing the same, but instead pulling into the back of the store’s parking where no one goes.
In the car on the way to the school, Max had her skateboard tucked between her legs and her backpack on the floor of the vehicle. “Who’s your new girlfriend?” She started, knowing very well they have only been here for a few days and it’s insane that her step brother already has a girlfriend, but she wasn’t surprised at least, he had his ways.
“Not my girlfriend, and stay out of my business, brat.” He huffed, before cursing and turning up the volume to his car before pulling into the parking lot of the schools. Both of them exiting the vehicle, Max went her separate way, Billy of course noticed the gaze and attention he brought from his car, the sound and well of course him. He knew he was good looking, and he was confident in it.
