I've been thinking about the meantime between Rocky and Ryland arriving on Erid and the biodome getting built. Did Rocky build Ryland a xenonite spacesuit on the way there? Did Ryland just. Hang out in the Hail Mary until the biodome got built?
They probably landed in total darkness and he was, in Rockys words, useless without light. Imagine landing on a whole alien planet but once you land its just darkness. And you have to wait however long it took eridians to build the biodome all while there is an entire civilisation out the door which is 1) excited because their star can be saved and 2) excited to see the squishy blob alien that can't come out of his weird small ship and also somehow cant see them even though he is right there?? 3) probably more concerned about the star saving thing than buliding an alien enclosure, right? Many such questions.
