In almost all cases, raising awareness doesn’t work. But when it comes to this I want people to speak up and listen, I want everyone to post something about it, here or another platform. I want more mainstream YouTubers to cover this. I want this everywhere.
Bird breeding is out of control, with alot of people doing it as a hobby or as a sketchy way to make money, it’s bad and wrong and causes a lot of problems. But let’s get to the main issue I want people to raise awareness of; BIRDS ARE NOT TOYS, THEY ARE NOT ACCESSORIES, NOT DECORATIONS, NOT PETS.
they should be treated like you would a human child, you cannot keep buying birds, avoiding research and then rehoming them.
do you know how many birds are abandoned each year? How many are rehomed? Do you know how many birds suffer? These intelligent, human-level sentient beings trapped in tiny cages all day?
Stop the abuse, birds are tiny people, not pets. They don’t just sit around like dogs or cats. Stop abusing birds, this happens constantly so rampant in fact that it’s normal to just.. let a bird die instead of taking it to a vet because it’s seen as too fragile that they just die anyway.
these birds can live up to 80 years in some cases, yet they barely make 1 - 2 with these conditions.
I don’t care if people are here for my undertale content. I’m so sick of this.
I want to call this the Kiwi movement, after my first conure kiwi, who suffered a tragic death due to mishandling and uneducation combined with a family impulse purchase. (I was too young to know how to care and my parents didn’t know.)
