The long and the short and the tall
About 200 species of birds live on on Hilton Head, which is no surprise, considering that its temperate climate, abundant water and dense foliage make the island a bird heaven.
Here we have (from top, to bottom) a great blue heron, a pair of anhingas and a party of piping plovers.
Hilton Head is also home to osprey, bald eagles, hawks, pileated woodpeckers and pelicans - not to mention the usual varieties of cardinals, ravens, etc.
Bless 'em all.

Pink-footed Shit Idiot
Had the guy NOT just yanked the pot out of the ground, we might have been able to determine more than just the fact that it’s a whole bunch of gold coins.
Unidentified bird, Assiniboine Park, early October 2021.
Small (sparrow-sized). Yellow-olive all over, brighter yellow belly. White and black wing bars. White eye ring.
Possibly a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, but I don’t think this bird was small enough.
Possibly a Blue-headed Vireo, but the belly wasn’t yellow enough.
Possibly a Cassin's Vireo--but they don’t come nearly far east enough.
New bird badge sticker designs available. HERE
