シジュウカラと新緑 / Japanese Tit & Fresh Green

新緑の中で、青緑の羽がきれいなシジュウカラを描きました🕊️

羽のグラデーションや模様がとても美しく、いつも見とれてしまいます。

シジュウカラは、文法やジェスチャーを使って仲間と会話する、とても面白い鳥です。（シジュウカラ語マスターしたい...！）

街中でも出会える身近な野鳥です。ぜひ観察してみてください🪽

I believe i only did 3 of the design quests for March Hotel, but here they be.

Bird character designing! I’m quite often frustrated with bird characters and how they often are treated as if they can’t care for the backs of their wings at all. Like- most birds can preen that part of themselves! Also the idea that all birds get weird about preening! Thta just- doesn’t make sense! I get it if the character is a parrot species or something, but like i’ve seen pidgin characters with that trait! Which doesn’t line up with real pidgin behaviors!

i personally am of the belief that if you are making a character winged you need to change their design somewhat! They need longer arms to reach their backs! I also enjoy the idea of bird characters having much longer legs and necks! Its fun to imagine that when bird characters were younger they were much… puffy-er.

Their hair had a dowy quality to it! I also like to think their wings were already almost their full grown size, so you have babys with disproportionately large wings, but they grow a bit more as they get old. The bird characters eat in communities, and have large family dinners.
