Twins time!
Val got a slight upgrade too. The impldoll body came with some extra hands, and I put some on him. They give him a more delicate air, I love it~
The plump impldoll body is so pretty, but a little hard to dress. None of my girly clothes fit. The hips and thighs are pretty thick, and it has wide shoulders. (not a complaint! I love that look, it feels like a real person's body). Now I need to find her a name...
I loved this head so much I couldn't resist having a second one. In the end I painted the new one in a pretty similar style to the first🫣
wow imagine posting photos to a bjd photo blog ! here's my Birdcube Lapin
Birdcupe Lupin painted by me. Includes ear painting and custom tongue parts
Valcamon is one of those times when a character changes because I fell for a doll and wanted to justify buying it lol
Originally he was just a normal handsome bl lead. But then I saw this birdcube head. And there was no coming back from it. For the better, I think. The old version of the character was always a little bland.
Valcamon is the protector god of a valley and the bronze age tribe that lives in it (although their own access to bronze is limited). Although he is very good at his job, he is not well liked by his people, for reasons that have been lost to time.
Valcamon could be expected to remember, but he doesnt. He was always excluded, that's all he knows. It is linked to something concerning his parents, and which was never explained to him when he was still mortal, and once he became a god people made it clear it was something taboo to discuss. The only thing he's sure of is that his face is not the cause of his exclusion, although it might be a consequence of it. He suspects that there was an attempt to kill him when he was very young, but he also may have been born that way. He's not terribly curious about that.
In general, he's not terribly curious about most things, for most of his life. Things are what they are, and he believes he is powerless to change them, so he's learned to be satisfied with the status quo. At least, until he meets the boy who would become the Magpie King who 1. Is a very curious person and 2. Refuses to let Valcamon continue to rot away from the world, never feeling sorrow nor joy.
A much anticipated arrival today! It's a Xuan Zang head from Birdcube. I'd fallen in love seeing pictures even before the preorder, and I'm so glad my partner was able to snatch one for me!
It is such a beautiful sculpt, I'm really in love🥰
I'm not fully sure how to customise him yet, but i do have a precise character in mind (just... One for whom I don't really have a precise design yet, aside from the scarred face)
More photos under cut, including closeup + trying it on various body I have at home
I just love these two.
It's too bad I've had so little energy to play with dolls this year, because they're among my favourite dolls and deserve more photos for sure.
Valcamon is finished!
Except for his clothes. And eyes. And body. And actually the styling of the wig might change too.
So yeah, he's not really finished, but he's presentable enough for some photos with his boyfriend. Ex-boyfriend? Future boyfriend? It's complicated to define a relationship when one was tricked into killing the other and spent several decades at the side of an impostor who used a curse to steal an identity.
