Famous Character Couples and their Dysfunctional relationship traits
1) Bringing out the worst in each other
Joker and Harley Quinn have to be the epitome of the ‘perfect couple’. Mad love is about what sums it up, love between a psychopath and a psychiatrist. It’s no wonder Harley Quinn decided to go off on her own and band with couple of women in her own new movie.
2) Masterful manipulation
Elektra: "Keep going. He knows your name, cut his throat. Kill him."
Daredevil: "I... I can't, I can't do that."
Elektra: "We can do anything together, remember?"
See? Master manipulator, something every woman should aspire to, lol.
The forbidden love between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen is what we all saw coming, even if they didn’t. GoT has a funny way of revealing the family tree. Definitely did not see him killing his lady love coming, probably not the best relationship outcome.
4) Male chauvinism and Feminism
Their most romantic couple quote also happens to be very chauvinistic and fairly egotistical. Their union ended up in Kylo Ren, so suffice to say, their parenting was likely very confusing for him and probably not the best role models. But we still love Leia and Han!
As for Rogue and Gambit, their intimacy issues of course stem from the fact that no one can physically touch Rogue without getting zapped. Then it gets more complicated if you absorb the memories of your loved one - wouldn’t that be most weird?
6) Constant 3rd wheel around
Jean Grey and Cyclops is another doomed couple with a constant Wolverine hovering around them. Not to mention, don’t forget about the Dark Phoenix and Emma Frost too... X-men couples are so complicated!
7) Anger management issues
Actually this would make a good analogy dating someone with a bad temper... ‘it’s like going out with the Hulk’. Going out with Wolverine is probably very much similar. As we all know, just trying a ‘lullaby’ on someone with anger management issues always seems to do the trick.
Whether it be in the movie universe or comic universe - Scarlet witch can’t help but kill Vision. Probably the worse possible way to break-up.
9) Having an lie detector for a partner
Technically, Deanna is an empath not a telepath. But if you couple that (no pun intended) together with basically knowing your partner well... it’s basically a recipe for mind reading. Hopefully the new Picard series will shed some light on how their relationship turned out!
10) Shouting at one another
Ok, actually Black Canary can’t help her ultrasonic scream, probably not used often against Green Arrow. But c’mon, when you’re arguing and you want the upper hand - does shooting an arrow trump window-shattering screaming?
