The bird's nest fern ( Asplenium Australus) seem to like being in a small pot rather than in the ground . They are an epiphyte inreality and grow in trees etc. They dont seem to need a lot of water and can cope with some full sun but prefer shade. I haveva few of these and some grow big while others stay smaller. They like a bit of seewead extract sprayed on them ,but in nature, they tend to collect leaflitter cor feed.

Asplenium nidus with sori. Commonly called the Bird's Nest Fern. The young leaves are edible and typically eaten boiled or stir fried. This particular plant is a cultivar that has these wavy leaf margins.

On the way to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) headquarters at Vincent Square in London to help assess the Masters of Horticulture dissertation vivas I discover the amazing work of Jens Jacobsen, Floral Construction. Woven into the metal railings were nests of textured stems supporting tender and hardy plants thriving in the warmer environment of the city. The glossy rosettes of Asplenium nidus (bird's nest fern) fronds, and twig 'boats' of succulent Echeveria added joy to this urban space. In addition the dissertation talks were fascinating so it was a day full of learning for me - thank you to the RHS candidates who had worked so hard.
