The reason gay people sit like that is they are all pirates and they all have sea legs if a gay person was sitting on a boat you’d be like, “that’s perfectly natural given the circumstances”
This show oh my god. The way we see Captain Flint as the best of the best pirates. He's ruthless and strong and seems almost undefeatable. Think about it. He could probably outsmart every rival captain. Besides his crew he doesn't really have to answer to anyone.
So when we see him as lieutenant Mcgraw who is a part of very clear hierarchy, who is concerned about how his superiors and society see him it's such a brilliant contrast.
One man was able to destroy his career and his whole life. Thomas and Miranda were clearly more privileged than him so being this vulnerable must have been really scary. This could never be achieved with straight storyline. This contrast between someone who is almost undefeatable and someone who feel in love with a person who could ruin his life just as easily as Thomas' father eventually did is so genius.
And we see that he definitely wouldn't initiate relationship with Thomas because he's so concerned about his image. So when both Thomas and Miranda show their interest he's the one who could lose the most. He could never be in this kind of unprivileged position in any straight narrative and that's what makes this queer representation so powerful to me
Pride moodboards: Bi Pirates
So I’ve been seeing things on TikTok for groups like the Bi-rates, Ace-assins, and the Dykings. But we need more. I’ve been trying to think of ones for Aros and Pans, but I can’t come up with anything. Can y’all help me out here?
I want to be eligible for bisexual pirates too, but only the clown ones
