remus receiving tons and i mean T O N S of book recommendations and writing them all down until he ends up with a five page list at the end of his transfiguration notebook

remus not being able to afford any of them cause they’re all new releases and the hogwarts library doesn’t really have a huge selection of fiction so he almost forgets about the list

UNTIL the hogsmeade bookshop opens up a leave one take one book exchange and it’s filled with newer and older books many of them from remus list

so remus spends even more time in the gryffindor common room reading away i between assignments

what remus doesn’t know it that sirius found remus book list a few weeks ago when he accidentally stumbled upon it when he went to steal remus notes from a class he missed cause he was probably doing the fuck knows pulling off some prank with james

sirius knowing that remus would never take any money from him or even books if he were to get them for him, he’s proud like that

sirius sneaks off during their next hogsmeade tip and practically begs the owner to start this new book exchange and even offering to finance it himself, he makes sure most of the books from remus list is available

every hodsmeade weekend going forward sirius sneaks off to make sure there are new books for remus to check out from his list

he watched the delight on remus face everytime he opens a new book and starts the first paragraph, smiling to himself he goes back to his charms essay remus finished 3 days ago, james and peter exchanging knowing glances

“Shh, shh” Sirius whispered in between kisses, laughing softly against Remus’ mouth, as Remus pushed him backwards into the dorm room. He kept one eye open to make sure no one was inside but he knew that James, Peter and Frank were still down at dinner in the great hall, so they really had nothing to worry about.

Dee came out as gay and transgender in his first year of high school, getting his first binder and chopping his hair short. And unfortunately, he’d immediately discovered there were a lot of homophobes and transphobes around.

It was also, however, how he met Remus, who was, in his words, “a flaming ball of bisexual rage”. Remus took no shit from anyone, had been suspended twice for punching homophobes, and had his sexuality printed on half his t shirts.

Dee adored him.

“I’m Dee,” he says when they finally talk, “but you can call me Deceit.”

“Why Deceit?” asks Remus curiously, “I’m Remus, and I’m gayer than my brother.”

“Because they tell me I’m a liar, so I made it my aesthetic. And got it.”

They became close. Remus was violent and aggressive to people who dared be rude about Deceit’s identity, and Deceit would find a way to ruin the lives of anyone who had issues with Remus’ sexuality. Neither cared if they were right in doing it. They just wanted each other to feel safe and happy.

But Deceit was still on edge at times, so when Remus asks him to prom in their senior year, all he can think of is what their class will think.

“It doesn’t matter what they think,” Remus tells him, grinning, “I just care about what you think.”

And, well, Deceit couldn’t say no after that.
