Dirty Projectors - "Bitte Orca" (Domino; 2009) on the hi-fi this morning. The knock on Dirty Projectors before this album was the lack of actual songs....on Bitte Orca David Longstreth successfully incorporated his avant-garde aesthetics into more traditional song structures and the results were astounding. I've heard people far smarter than I admit to not being able to properly describe their music so your best bet is to listen and experience it for yourself. #dirtyprojectors #bitteorca #domino #davidlongstreth #ambercoffman #angelderadoorian #indie #artpop #experimental #brooklyn
Dirty Projectors have announced today that their follow-up to 2009's (great) 'Bitte Orca'. 'Swing Lo Magellan' will be out on July 10 in the US via Domino Records.
Raleigh Moncrief - "Lament for Morning"
In October, Raleigh Moncrief released his first solo album Watered Lawn. You may know him for his work with the Dirty Projectors on their masterpiece, Bitte Orca. He has also collaborated with Marnie Stern and Youth Lagoon according to the internets. Here is a sample from the album. Thanks to Shilpa for sharing.
Dirty Projectors - "Stillness Is The Move"
The Dirty Projectors 2009 album, Bitte Orca, still occupies a spot in my iTunes rotation because tracks like this.
