ALBUM: BITTE ORCA BY DIRTY PROJECTORS

i highly recommend this album to those with a love for unconventional, experimental music. this album is rich with soaring harmonies, intriguing string arrangements, and all-in-all, some beautiful songwriting.

Dirty Projectors - "Bitte Orca" (Domino; 2009) on the hi-fi this morning. The knock on Dirty Projectors before this album was the lack of actual songs....on Bitte Orca David Longstreth successfully incorporated his avant-garde aesthetics into more traditional song structures and the results were astounding. Dirty Projectors have announced today that their follow-up to 2009's (great) 'Bitte Orca'. 'Swing Lo Magellan' will be out on July 10 in the US via Domino Records.

Raleigh Moncrief - "Lament for Morning"

In October, Raleigh Moncrief released his first solo album Watered Lawn. You may know him for his work with the Dirty Projectors on their masterpiece, Bitte Orca.  He has also collaborated with Marnie Stern and Youth Lagoon according to the internets. Here is a sample from the album.  Thanks to Shilpa for sharing.
