Dragons Bane - Chapter Four.
Cobras POV
The pair fo dragon slayers struggled with their bindings momentarily as the strange woman giggled in front of them.
He figured she hadn’t seen him grab onto Rouge at the last minute, but as he tugged on the handcuffs he realised he was very wrong.
“What do you want with us anyway?” He asked, getting to his feet. “Isn’t your business with Zana?”
Cobra tired as hard as he could to get the communication system working, but because of the sealing stones, he couldn’t reach any one.
“Mhm. But she will come for you guys, if you get hurt enough.” She chuckled.
“How did you know about…?” Rouge questioned the woman as she advanced on them.
“Like I said, she stole from me. So I did whatever I could to make sure I see her downfall. I spent years researching her powers.”
Cobra chuckled slightly as he leaned on the wall, before he started to laugh. Rouge shot him a glance but the poison dragon slayer was already in hysterics.
“First of all.” He said trying to catch his breath. “Get a life.” He giggled, pausing again. “Secondly, you can’t have done that much research. Its been 9 years since anything was written on her or Dragons Bane. So I will forgive you for not knowing that we can activate the signal whenever we feel like it… and.. “ he said, pausing for dramatic effect, leaning closer to the mage in front of them.
“She’s already on her way here.” He said with a grin but revived a solid punch in the face, sending him reeling backwards into the stone wall.
“Idiot.” The love mage said before turning her back on the pair of wizards, visibly distressed.
Rouge glared at Cobra, both of them knew he was bluffing, but that punch to the face and the impact of the wall should have triggered his signal anyway.
“I should have kidnapped Rufus or Freed, I bet they’d be much more interesting to talk with at least.” The pink haired wizard said with a sigh, hearts almost popping out of her eyes.
Cobra raised a brow in shock before grinning once more.
“Ah, I doubt either of them would take the time to have a conversation with someone like you.” He said with a sneer.
The wizard in front of them was getting visibly agitated and upset, but in true Cobra fashion, he continued to push her buttons.
“Besides.” He looked her up and down. “I don’t think they’d even be able to keep eye contact with you for longer than-“ he said but was cut off and she channeled a ray of pink light and hit him straight in the chest.
Cobra winced momentarily before he laughed once more. “So you are a love mage. Interesting. So you also wasted your life away learning the same magic as Zana.. you must really love her.” He teased, bracing himself as the mage in front of them lifted her arm to launch another attack, but it never hit him.
The air around them changed, it started to feel thicker and heavier, as if someone was sucking the air out of the room.
Looking up, they noticed a a pink forcefield levitating in front of them, the beam of light that the other mage shot had evaporated into thin air and tiny light particles fell from the ceiling like snow.
“I see you still manage to get yourself into all sorts of trouble.” A light hearted voice said from above them.
Looking up, in the darkness of the ruin they were in you could only just make out the outline of a figure leaning against the eaves.
“Z-Zana!” The mage in front of them called. “Come down and face me.”
“Tina was it?” The figure said with a chuckle. “Your friends used to call you Tee, didn’t they?” She questioned.
“Shut up!” Tina hissed. “I said get down here, or I’ll hurt your little friends here.” She hissed but Zana just chuckled again.
“I dare you to try it.” she said tilting her head and leaping down in front of the group, in between her and Cobra and Rouge.
Zana stood tall, her black hair indistinguishable from her black hood. She wore a black mask over her mouth and her red eyes seemed to glow with a sense of revenge.
“Go on.” Zana said. “I’m open.”
Tina lunged immediately, but Zana stepped to the side and tapped her slightly on the head.
“Love Dragon: Enchant. Sleep” She whispered and Tina fell to the ground like a rag doll.
Zana let her force field down and turned around shaking her head.
“Why is it always you two I am rescuing” she said with a chuckled and bent down to untie their binders.
Cobra rubbed his wrists and grinned up at his old friend, who reached out her arm to pull him up.
“Figured you wouldn’t show up for a minute there.” He said and grabbed her hand, jumping to his feet. “But you are far too predictable.”
“I should’ve left you both here to deal with her on your own.” She laughed, reaching down to help her brother up, but as she yanked him up she. Also pulled him into a hug.
“Plus you both looked so helpless, I had to intervene.” She said mocking them while ruffling Rouges hair.
“Shut up!” The shadow dragon slayer said with a scowl.
“Alright, come on.” She said grabbing Cobra’s arm. “The rest will be worried out of their minds.” She chuckled and shut her eyes, teleporting them back to where the main group was.
