Doll plans 2017
Hey, so the new year’s here, and new year means time for new doll plans. Stuff may change of course, but it’ll be fun to look back on this when 2018 comes around and see how much I managed to stick to them. So far, my plans are:
- Sell of most of my collection. Over the years, I have amassed a great amount of dolls (100+) and clothes because “oooh shiny”. A lot of them are still blank, some of the painted ones I don’t do anything with. No matter how much I liked them when I got them, I realise I love some of mine vastly more than the others, and I want a smaller collection (though I can handle many, I want less than 50 at least for sure). My aesthetic has also vastly changed (I went from anime to stylistic realistic + realistic), so a lot of my old faves I don’t care about anymore.
- Get a few new dolls I’ve really been eyeing. I caved at the last minute and put a Youpla Dolls Ziya on layaway. I admired her a lot, and I know I would regret it if I didn’t. So the next months will be spent planning her looks. I have a Dark Tales Fanchon on the new body coming in as a birthday gift to myself, and I also plan on getting a Kayke Coco when she’s finally released, and a Boypink Spoon. I don’t know if they’ll be released in 2017 though, but if they are, I will have them as long as finances allow. Bar any other super unique releases yet to be revealed, that’s all. I also want a Youpla Dolls Zopa and an Iplehouse Ah-ra, but given that Zopa must be found second-hand and Ah-ra isn’t limited, they’re not a priority.
- Craft more wigs, and sew more clothes and shoes. A lot of my dolls I can’t find the right style or size for by buying anyway, and I find I usually connect with them most when I make stuff for them myself. This year’s been kinda bad due to deteriorating mental health, but I need to try and push through it or get on meds if I can’t. Hopefully that’ll make me able to get more done. My love for crafting is still there, I just haven’t had the energy to get up and do anything.
- Actually do some photo stories or more everyday style photos of my dolls. Most of my photography is simple portraits without any props and/or story, and while I enjoy doing that, I also want to do something new.
- Get my damn dolls in cosplay. I have quite a few cosplay outfits I want to make for my dolls to wear, but I have been too exhausted to do it. Kessie is doing Katara for sure, and I’m also tempted to make her do Yuuri Katsuki (with someone not too much taller than her as Viktor). Someone is going to do Ventus and Sora from KH, and Tidus and Yuna from FFX. And I’ve been saying to myself for ages that I’m going to do have my dolls do a Togainu group, but I’m not sure how many of the characters I’ll be making yet (at least Rin, Akira and Keisuke). All of this though requires me sewing the outfits and making the shoes (which I can, it’s just oh so much more time consuming than sewing clothing), and making new wigs, so it’ll be a challenge to finish for sure. Especially as I also have my own to do.
- Start on Kessie’s kalaallisuut. I’ve been planning to do that for ages, and I’ve gathered all the reference material, but I’m not very good at bead weaving, so I’ve been putting it off. But I’d really like to finally get started on it.
- Get all my dolls stands so they don’t have to sit on the shelves. I’m too paranoid to have them standing up without a stand, no matter how solid standers they are.
And that’s that.
What are you all planning when it comes to dolls now in the new year?
