The idea that I have three shows from Japan, three from China, two from Taiwan, two from South Korean, one from the Philippines and fourteen from Thailand on my currently watching list is wild. And only ONE of those isn't gay as fuck. And it ain't coming from China!
🖇️BL WATCHLIST JANUARY ❄️
Instead of catching up with some shows in December I decided to take a proper hiatus (the Steam holiday sale is just too tempting) so my watchlist is still empty. But! I'll try and make good on my promise and slowly get back into all things tumblr and BL (and if you're still following me after ~6 months of basically zero content then thank u ILU! 💜).
January feels like the perfect month for this because there's not many new releases and even fewer shows I absolutely need to watch as they air. I'll probably start with The Love Never Sets, Goddess Bless and Mandate... oh and maybe The Fridge too (unless they un-BLed it? Boo!)

Last Twilight: against all odds, my favorite show airing atm. Me and Jimmy have come so far.
Cooking Crush: everything I wanted, and I don’t just like it because I’m an OffGun girlie at heart. It’s genuinely a perfect food romcom to balance all the other heavy shit airing right now.
The Sign: obsessed, it’s now appointment television.
Playboyy: intellectually interested in what it’s trying to say but not nearly as titillated by the pale imitations of porn as some of y’all.
WDYEY: steady as a rock, I missed Shiro and Kenji.
Middleman’s Love: fell way behind and I’m not enticed enough to go back. Might binge it when it finishes if y’all tell me it’s worth it.
The Whisperer: sad about how terrible it is, I would only endure this for The Dimple.
Shadow: part 2 dropping this week hell yeah.
Still haven’t started:
VIP Only: I have solemnly vowed to watch everything Taiwan puts out so I’ll be catching up soon.
Mr. Sahara & Toki-kun: Drama Shower has been so good this year, I’ll be picking this one up too.
Pit Babe: I suspect the ABO thing is just window dressing and this is a standard mid bl, will wait to hear what people think.
My Dear Gangster Oppa: will binge this when it ends, it doesn’t look good enough to hold up to weekly viewing and I’ve been warned it contains my beloathed noble idiocy trope.
Bake Me Please: seems inessential, holding for now unless someone tells me otherwise.

For Him: ditto.
7 Days Before Valentine: I still haven’t seen 180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us from the same team and @bengiyo thinks I should watch that first, so on hold.
Starting soon:
Cherry Magic Thailand: my beloveds TayNew!!! I am actually looking forward to seeing what they do with this story because the original has some flaws I think Thai bl and TayNew specifically are well suited to address (I am talking about sex).
In conclusion: I’m trying to watch way too much, my head is probably gonna explode before end of year.

Oh! My Assistant — cute! i like the assistant, and how gay they let him be. it’s a little slapstick and a little short for my tastes, but i think i will enjoy it.
My School President — the first episode was like the platonic ideal of a light-hearted high school bl. i ❤️ tinn & gun.

Vincenzo — i did not realize it was a comedy when starting. it’s great though.
Love By Chance — i love ae and pete (and the horny roommate). i’ve kind of stalled out though. took a break when mame started maming, and haven’t come back yet.
Cutie Pie — i have to be in the right mood to buy into the historical romance style of it all, but i generally like the characters.
Minato Shouji Coin Laundry — also stalled out but plan to finish. there are many things i love, but shin is the type of seme i want to throw in a lake, so it’s been hard to get through.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha — i started it like a year ago, before i even really knew what bl was. i liked it, but it’s not really made for binging, and then once i stopped i never went back. but both @petrichoraline and my sister-in-law recommended it to me recently, so i want to pick it up again.
Rewatching:
Nothing. There’s plenty I want to, but I’m just trying to keep up with the new stuff lol.

⭐ I'm the Most Beautiful Count - IQIYI/YOUTUBE - The only show on atm that I genuinely enjoy watching... but this has more to do with hobby burn-out than with the quality of shows so it's my little BL happy place.🤞
⭐Khemjira - IQIYI - I'm mostly watching this for the horror elements now. It's an incredible show and production but I simply liked the novel better.
⭐The Wicked Game - IQIYI - So far I'm not impressed (mostly with the technical side of things) but I'm hanging on because I trust DaouOffroad.

⭐Air Moment - ??? - Apparently this is hard sci-fi with a BL twist. The marketing for this is a mess so who even knows at this point. I'm mostly tuning in for Earth Teerapat but if it doesn't hold my interest I'll drop it.
⭐The Cursed Love - ??? - Aaand another vaguely spooky and mystical BL with a reincarnation twist. Then again, it *is* October, and judging by the 9mins+ long trailer they're quite confident in their work (or they didn't bother to give their editor a briefing).
⭐The Love Never Sets - IQIYI - My hope for this is that it's old-school but softer and less whatever the hell Doctor's Mine was (not that I watched it). Plus, I really like the leads. Ja and Tae are such a surprising and interesting pairing.
⭐Me and Who - WETV - I'm a big (lol) fan of BigPark but I'm not really a fan of the kind of story DMD seems to prefer making (rich people doing rich people things but make it funny~) so I'll probably ignore my FOMO and pass on this.
⭐My Secret of Seer - ??? - I was prepared to not even pick this up but the trailer was really intriguing. Magic seems to be the marketing focus of BL in 2025 but somehow this seems more grounded with a distinct indie feel - all things that I love in my BL.
⭐ Mystique in the Mirror - IQIYI (apparently? I can't see it in EU) - This feels more like throwing the show out there so it's not a total loss but I'm just glad I finally get to watch it. I love Pat Rangsimant's stories, and this is one that I'm especially looking forward to.
⭐Goddess Bless You From Death - IQIYI (and whatever scraps the folks in Europe get) - I want to read the novel before this starts airing because this looks like it has a very unique and gritty plot, and this is exactly what I need right now: Plot with BL and not the other way around.
⭐Zomvivor - NETFLIX - Not only will this apparently FINALLY air, no, they also managed to snag themselves a Netlix deal. I'm actually a big fan of DMD's gen shows (and also zombies) so I'm really excited for this.
⭐(Love Song) - MOVIE - A Thai-Japanese co-production by screenwriter/director Champ Weerachit who was also behind I Will Knock You and 1000 Years Old - two of my all-time favourites.

⭐Melody of Secrets - YOUTUBE - I'm kind of puzzled by the "they lightened the mood for the trailer to hide spoilers" crowd because imagine you watch this for the romcom feel and then it turns out to be a dark thriller? That's a horrible thing to do. :(
⭐Dare You to Death - NETFLIX - For some reason I just don't vibe with the actors at all so I'll probably skip this.
⭐Fourever You Season 2 - WETV - Same but this time I adore the actors but just don't vibe with the plot.

⭐ Pit Babe 2 - IQIYI | YOUTUBE - Rejoice! Everyone's favourite A/B/O (implied) racecar fantasy series is back! As for me, the lack of PeteKenta and Way's premature death have turned me towards whatever Winner and Dean (and Willy) are up to (probably not much).
⭐ My Sweetheart Jom - YOUTUBE - This show is so charming and endearing with amazing production values. I'm genuinely impressed. But if Heng's character starts third-wheeling again I'm going to flip my desk.
⭐The Bangkok Boy - GAGAOOLALA - B-Movie but make it BL? Yes, please.
⭐My Stubborn - IQIYI - I'm still undecided on this one, especially with next month's line-up. Usually I'm okay with MFlow's style but this one might be a bit too messy for me. AND WHAT'S WITH THE RANDOM CHILDREN, MFLOW??
