Friendly reminder that weekends are sacred and official market days. 💖 It’s that time of the week when you can go get your cut flowers. Hydrangeas are gorgeous and they last longer than most — especially if you take care of them well. Here’s how I extend their life at home: • I cut off at least 5cm from the stem and dip the ends in boiling water. Let sit for a few minutes and watch the petals perk up. • In my vase, I add flower food which you can buy from @blume2000.de or any flower shop. It’s basically a concoction of nutrients that will extend the life of your blooms but if you have no access to it, a couple of spoonfuls of sugar will suffice. • Don’t forget to change the water in your vase every other day! If I had my own, outdoor garden it will be filled with hydrangeas and peonies. But since I don’t, it’s cut flowers in vases for me and mini greens for my mini-plantita collection. 😅 I was told that though hydrangeas are summer flowers, the plant prefers a shaded area in one’s garden. Been taking a creative photography course online these days to keep myself distracted while improving myself. One of the lessons was about playing with lights and shadows so I thought I’d give it a try in this photo. PSA: The cherry trees along the TV-Asahi-Kirschblütenallee are now in full bloom. But go early to avoid people who also have the same idea to social distance here by taking a walk. 🌸 We were lucky that there was hardly anyone there when we arrived but as we drove off, we saw it was starting to get a little too crowded for the recommended abstand.
