imagine having a shapeshifting monster love you. like skinstealers from the backrooms, not the actual cultural native ones.

you find a cute dog in the alleyway next to your house, or a cat staring at birds in your backyard, or even a rabbit hiding in your shed. sure, it looks a bit off. are they supposed to be that big and gruff, and are their eyes supposed to look so human? maybe not, maybe they aren't suppose to look like a skin suit covering another creature, but it'd be rude to leave a poor animal there all alone.

so you start feeding it, giving it water, even cautiously petting it from time to time. at first, it just stares at you, but eventually it plays along. for whatever reason, this stray doesn't like kibble, instead preferring actual food. plants, meat, whatever: it'll eat those regardless of what species it's masking as. you think it's a bit odd, but, who are you to judge?

eventually though, the animal starts demanding more than just food and pets. it begins to follow you, curious human like eyes watching your every move. you're an interesting human, it thinks. feeding strays, even though they look wrong. how nice and kind of you. maybe it'll keep you as a pet for your generosity.

and of course, you let it into your house. you let it get some more food, but it still won't leave. maybe it just needs a warm place to sleep tonight? at least, that's what you innocently thought until you felt arms wrap around you, and an inhuman yet awfully clear voice in your ear. "i want more."

yeah, animals definitely don't do that. and they don't crawl out of their skin to reveal a more humanoid figure staring at you. well, now you've got an awfully real monster in your house. and it likes you. good luck!
