As an autistic advocate I think it’s important to use the voice I have to raise awareness of the inequality in our community. Black people are much less likely to be diagnosed as autistic compared to white people. They are also much more likely to be harmed or even killed for showing their autistic traits.
From listening to black autistics it’s clear that autism is not being diagnosed or even considered amongst black individuals. Neal, who is a black autistic person, spoke about his experience and stated: “Black people get misdiagnosed and disciplined and killed for having undiagnosed autism in great numbers. It took me longer to consider I might have it because I’d literally never heard of a black autistic person.”
This is something we as a community must change. We have to speak up about this. Getting an autism diagnosis is tricky enough at the best of times but you are so much less likely to be diagnosed if you are black. I had a message once from someone asking me if it was even possible for them to be autistic because they were black and that hit me hard. Black autistics are not being given a voice, they are not being given validation, they are not being diagnosed. This has to change.
If you are a black autistic person who is self diagnosed or professionally diagnosed, or a black person who suspects you are autistic, please message me and share your experience because I want to make your voice heard. It’s important we speak up about the inequality that’s happening in our community and the injustice that black autistics receive. We have to do something. We have to change this.
Black autistic witches are great pass it on!

Where are the Black Autistic/Neurodivergent Safe Spaces guys??!!
I’m now pretty pissed off that the neurodivergent community is just racist af. Like why does white people have to ruin everything?! Like wtf, wtf. This needs to be said, like right now. There should be more safe spaces being made for black autistic people. There should be safe spaces for black autistic people. I know people who I love and dear are black and neurodivergent, and they said there isn’t any communities that they can relate to, safe spaces where they can actually feel free to be themselves, and where they can talk to other autistic people of color who have similar experiences as them. How most sources of black autistic people are either racist, ableist, and/or directed towards parents. I can not stress this enough!! I’m tired of seeing my loved ones and my community of neurodivergent/autistic people feeling unsafe and getting hurt like this. Make safe spaces for them, make sure your voice is heard, and to others, make their voices are heard pls!! Thank you. Pls boost this message!!
Are there any other autistic peeps who work in customer service? How do y'all keeping yourselves from becoming burned out? 🤔
Hello My POC Autistics!!
Anyone have a special interest they feel odd about and/or face difficulties with because of their race?
For example, I love Norse Mythology and I really like/am fascinated by the god Oðinn/Odin. As you can imagine, I run into quite a few white supremacist spaces this way and I have to be very weary. I’m hesitant to reblog stuff on this site outside of Marvel comics related stuff (which is vastly different, okay. V important. To have them get them mixed up (unintentionally) makes me cringe because my brain goes “do! not! disrespect! Oðinn! In! this! way!!! I probs need to chill/) because I don’t know who is a white supremacist. And I don’t want shit like “Oðinn would have you slain in my inbox, okay)
I also sometimes feel like I should be more interested in my own culture instead of this very white one. (I am interested in my own culture, being Geechee is amazing and is a unique AA experience! But I still feel this way sometimes.)
