Batwoman is just as good as Supergirl and some of these other shows. Why isn’t it getting more attention?
Because it’s a TV show that is starring a Black woman.
And not only a Black woman, a Black Queer woman playing a Black Queer character, with other Black and Queer people involved. It’s not as popular or not getting attention BECAUSE OF RACISM. People don’t like to watch things that they can’t see themselves in. Even though Black and Brown folks have done it all our lives, it’s usually a problem when you are of white and you’re used to being represented and used to being the majority and the center of attention and used to media that caters to you, and used to stories about you and your experiences.
I think yall should know by now that Black people and shows that have a cast full of Black and Brown people need to be 110 percent better than their Non-Black and Brown counterparts. We simply can’t be mediocre; where as other TVs shows can have fans begging for it to be canceled and they still get signed on for 3 more seasons. It’s that simple. Also Ruby really made it hard to pick this show up off the ground. Most people who said they didn’t want to watch it said it was because they don’t like Ruby, and she isn’t even on the show anymore so a small part of it is people not liking Ruby and not realizing that Javicia is now the star. It would be interesting to see how this show would have done had they cast Javicia from the beginning. The main issue is racism though. And on that note, watch the new season of Batwoman that comes on tonight!! Stream it on the CW APP the next day.
