you can’t convince me regulus didn’t fucking suck at asking for affection even as a child.

like, i have this clear image in my head of regulus wanting some parent or relative to stroke his hair, or listen to him, but with no idea how to directly voice this need. he would see sirius simply asking straight away, but whenever he tried to open his mouth too his voice would just fade with no reason. so he just stood there awkwardly, waiting for the adults to turn around and figure it out.

and sometimes sirius, being the demon he is, would announce loudly “regulus wants attention” for the whole room to hear, to which regulus responded by blushing in the ears and leaving the place altogether while screaming “liarrr”

I think Regulus and Sirius would like "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love" because both of them, just like Olivia Rodrigo, discovered that love doesn't cure mental illnesses and disorders and all the other profound things she discovers in the album's songs, you know?

Regulus Black (he/him)

Regulus Black, the second child of Walburga and Orion Black, and cousin to Narcissa, Andromeda and Bellatrix Black. He is very close to his fellow youngest of their family cousin, Narcissa before she leaves and misses her greatly (and might just be a little jealous of her freedom but we don't talk about that).

And I think I will leave it there. He is going to be an interesting character in this fic. He is trans in this au and it will be explained why/how he isn't stuck in the closet (because of Walburga and Orion) but im just going to either make a separate post about that or just wait to explain it in the fic (if someone sent me an ask abt it I would answer it though 😉)

Now on to our second contestant,

Sirius Black (they/she/he)

They are genderfluid in this au so he will use different pronouns based on how she is presenting/feeling but they/them are probably going to be the main ones they use.

Sirius Black, the first, now disowned child of Walburga and Orion Black, and older cousin to Andromeda, Narcissa and Bellatrix Black. Best friend (and maybe more) to James Potter and adopted child of Effie and Monty Potter. They are still in their hometown and live with the Potters and is developing feelings for a certain merchant they recently met.

And I think thats all I'll say about Sirius for now. He will have an interesting part in this story as well but one thing you have to know about her is that she will be chronically overdressed 110% of the time. And they will not give a single f-ck what anyone thinks about it either. And I think that's about it. I hope you like these because the black siblings mean so much to me. 10 year old Sirius sneaking away from his parents in London, listening to Blackbird by the Beatles from a street performer and singing it to his brother when he has nightmares. Calling Regulus his little Birdie.

14 year old Regulus singing it back to him as he tries to heal the cuts on his brother's bleeding body from another of their mother's punishments.

17 year old Sirius finding out about the mark on his brother's arm and realising he hadn't been his Birdie for 6 years and he wasn't even his brother anymore.

17 year old Regulus letting the fight leave his body as hands dragged him under because his brother was calling him Birdie and he hadn't been sung to sleep in 7 years.

18 year old Sirius mumbling the lyrics as he lay in his bed for weeks, realising that against all odds, he had hoped his Birdie would one day fly back to him, but instead he had flown away to a place he would never be able to follow him.
