Pickled Green Walnuts (Vegan)
infused with a medley of mustard seeds, cardamom, allspice and juniper berries, ginger, chilli and peppercorns.
I have black walnuts in my backyard. I was bored so I started tearing into them, without knowing they could SEVERELY STAIN MY FINGERS!
I’VE WASHED MY HANDS, LIKE, FOUR TIMES! THIS SHIT ISN’T COMING OFF!

Foraged some black walnuts from the trees near my driveway, they always drop on our driveway every year and I’ve never thought to harvest them until I went to the park this morning and saw this guy pick up buckets and buckets full from the trees there
I saw him and I was like “man I wish I had thought of that” because the trees and ground under them is soooo accessible and then I was like. Wait. I HAVE BLACK WALNUT TREES. So now I’ll get to taste black walnuts and hopefully make something yummy from them
TIL that purple carrots will, indeed, dye your hands roughly like beets. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Only it turns darker and dirtier-looking. And this was after handling only one of the things.
On the plus side, the shape makes them easier to cut up without your whole hand getting in on the action. And I am most definitely not a hand model. 😅
