this is pretty much all you ever need. the low end that comes out of this @badcatamps Black Cat 30R is just unreal. something about a Fender into an AC style amp just feels right. On the left is @torrecioffi American strat and his vox ac30c2 that was gutted and rebuilt into a proper AC amp. not sure the guys name but it rips. On the right is my new av65 Jazzmaster and also my new @badcatamps black cat 30r. I’ve been loving this newer/smaller/lighter version of the black cat. While I haven’t compared it to my older 2x12 version, I can honestly say I don’t need to. It’s sounded great with whatever I throw into it. I almost prefer the 12AX7 side more these days but I’m hoping to get more into the EF86 channel in the future. do yourself a favor and try one of these out if you can. V stoked. friends, let’s talk tubes. whatcha like, whatcha don’t like? I just got this new @badcatamps Black Cat 30R and I’m on the hunt for some new glass. It came with a set of JJ 84’s that sound really good. I have a brand new set of Tung Sol 84’s that I’m going to swap in and see how they do. Anyone have a similar BC/matchless style and run something you love? I threw in a NOS Mullard Rectifier and it feels just heavenly. Also ditched the new production EHX EF86 and tossed in a NOS Valvo mesh plate 86 and channel 2 sounds unreal. Super thick without the mud and the top end just sparkles. I guess what I really want to know is what everyone is running for pre’s these days. I haven’t fully gone down the NOS preamp rabbit hole but I’m certainly not opposed. Any thoughts on the matter? Let’s nerd out. Feed me info and input. It’s almost Friday and that calls for a celebration.
