The mystery of Jacob’s relationship with his mother revealed. At the end of the day, Elle is right that despite Jacob’s desire to protect both Blake and his schizophrenic mother from potential hurt they could cause each other, it’s not his choice to make. But, on the flip side, what right does Blake have to judge Jacob for withdrawing from his mothers life? Blake knows nothing about her condition and how it affected either of them, and Jacob understanding that he is a trigger for her fear and paranoia, it’s quite reasonable that he should choose to protect both her and himself from it. I think Jacob did a great job in portraying the distress caused by having to sedate his mother, and the pain of knowing that she is terrified of him. (And that after his Strictly Come Dancing performance too :))
Iain’s behaviour continues to be problematic, although I did rather enjoy his stopping of the runaway car using the paramedic car to brake it. I imagine we will see his drug addicted charge again in the next few episodes, and hopefully it will all come to a head so we can put that storyline to bed once and for all.
COTW involving the young carer and his father with MS was reasonably well done.
Gem had a bit of a cheek asking Ruby to switch rooms, I think, although that might just be because I’m not a big fan of Gem! Although it did lead to the episodes light relief moment - the return of Rash’s tendency to vomit when he gets nervous or put under pressure. Haven’t missed it on the wards, but brilliant that it should have a resurgence at the prospect of losing his virginity.
