BLANKbottle Orbitofrontal Cortex Stellenbosch, South Africa 2022 Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, Clairette

Orbitofrontal Cortex is the ‘control’ wine, a byproduct, in an experiment in which BLANKbottle worked with scientists at Neural Sense to create a wine that was a result of subconscious reactions.

Using brainwaves, blood oxygen levels and eye dilation, 21 different wines were sampled and tested. This wine is a blend of the best of the wines selected by the orbitofrontal cortex, where conscious decisions are made. A toasty, creamy, complex white with high acidity.

BLANKbottle Smaug the Magnificent Western Cape, South Africa 2021 Grenache Blanc, Verdelho, Grenache Gris, Viognier, Roussane, Marsanne Every wine by BLANKbottle is done in a different way. Highly experimental, the winemaker doesn't list the grapes on wines (they are left blank) and instead bases them on a story. A playful way to encourage curiosity and challenge preconceptions. As with all BLANKbottles, it is full bodied and powerful. Smaug has notes of aniseed and butter with a savoury finish.
