It's Menos Mooooooondaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
I made these for @ippoddity's birthday last month, and did a little photoshoot before I packed them into their box and sent them off. Menos Matryoshka! Painted in a style inspired by khokhloma, a style of Russian folk art.
The wooden bases are from a craft mall in St. Petersburg. I've had them for quite some time, and they seemed PERFECT for Menos. I painted them with black enamel paint + acrylics for the rest. They were also painted with mortal terror, as I learned how to paint vines and strawberries (ALL FOR YOU, ICHIGO).
Then I had lots of fun posing them like they went to a mall in the 90s for family portraits. 😊

I handcrafted this with love over the last couple of weeks, feverishly trying to finish in time. You may be surprised to hear that there’s no readily available amigurumi pattern for a blob of seaweed, so I had to make it up as I went 🤣
Only a man who appreciates beauty in the simplicity of form while also promoting health benefits could have come up with this. I love him for it. What a dweeb.

A (late) happy birthday present to myself, I made a big Menos Grande! I think it's somewhere around 18" tall. For comparison, I also included the small menos that I made last year.
I'm very happy with the way he turned out. He was mostly free handed because I couldn't find a pattern to use (lol). So that means he's one of a kind (as all menos are). I can't wait snuggle with him!

Inspired by @recurring-polynya's classic birthday art, I made Chad's hat!
The cabling and double brim made this much thicker than I think he needs, given his full head of hair, but I think he likes it anyway because it was made with love by Orihime.
I based the hat of this pattern here, and added ears.

I've been possessed by some kind of crocheting spirit over the last few days, because I've somehow managed to finished 3 different projects in 3 days. And what better way to channel that energy than into making things for Bleach?? Usually it takes me multiple sittings to finish a single project because I get bored, or forget, or get to a point where there's something I don't like doing (I hate threading in ends). But something in the stars aligned and I'm incredibly happy to share one of my finished products!
That's right, it's Renji's hat! I did not make a color corrected vibrant version of the hat, mostly because I didn't want to buy new yarn and I happened to have these colors leftover from a different project. Also, I will probably actually wear this hat and it's questionable whether or not I'd wear one that's the color of Teletubbies.
Anyway, I'm incredibly excited about this hat and the other ones I made. However the other ones are gifts, and I figured I should wait until the recipients actually get them before I share pictures. XD
This pattern was actually pretty fun and easy to make, so I am still considering making a "real color" version of Renji's hat, but then I'd have to figure out what to do with it...
In order to make the funny earflaps longer, I slightly changed the earflap part of the pattern. But for the most part, you can find the crochet pattern here.
I had a logo I needed to cover up on my work jacket, and I never thought I’d say this, but I am excited to go to work tomorrow so I can wear this 🤣🤣
