nerd rant below

right. So. I've never fully watched miraculous. But I have seen the movie and ive seen a few episodes enough to understand what it's about. And I like the premise! But like many others I just wasnt... satisfied with how the show played out in what I watched. I was always left asking "wtf did I just watch" after almost every episode I watched which is why I kinda dropped it.

Im gonna say this, I am not a hater of the show!!! I just personally didn't click with it and that's fine. I think it's fine as a show and it's not a bad thing for others to enjoy it. I just personally didn't like it.

And I'm not gonna say my version is better. It's just more tailored for me- and it's really just to explore concepts and have some fun.

Anyways about the doodle! I was thinking up ideas about how I wanted ladybug to look. In my imagination I think it'd be cool for her to have this bright blue hair and a lot more buggy accessories. I also was thinking about different outfits for her. Which let to me coming up with this winter bug design.

Im not too satisfied with it- but it's a decent starting point for designs of her. I know in her normal fit I want her to wear a decent amount of padding. So the knee pads and the little shoulder spikes I think are a good staring base. But I wanna add more I think. Maybe some gloves or a helmet.

I like the colors so far. I know she's gonna end up looking pretty monochrome so I'm thinking of just adding in dashes of green or blue here and there.

Ive had my own iteration for roughly a year or two.

Ive never really posted much about it but I've decided to start, just for fun. So I'll start ranting about it more. I've been re doing these designs ever since I got the idea to make my own version of the tmnt.

The main problem I keep facing in their designs is if I should make them all the same turtle or different ones. I didn't want to make them different at first because it felt like I was copying rise, but I really like being able to give them vastly different and unique designs. But I like the nostalgia of having them all the same cartoon-y unrealistic turtles we know and love.

I decided on different species because well... there's too many gags I've made up in my head to scrap that part of them. Plus it gives me more room to play with the looks of them. I've always wanted them to be based off real turtles. I like bringing in silly little facts about the real species into the design and characters.

I wanted this new iteration to be my own, but I also still want to call back to the past series. I've been low key studying the characters in each of the versions of tmnt that I love.

Nothing is rock solid Canon yet, but I've got some ideas. And I mean a 6 page Google doc.

But I'll rant about the story and the turtles more on a later date.

Tags might be a bit misleading- this is just TMNT inspired.

So uh. Tmnt turned Into ocs basically.

I had my own itteration but I kept limiting myself because I was thinking in like of like ... ya know tmnt and what there story is sorta supposed to be like. But I want to go crazy- so I turned them into ocs so now I can do what I want without worry because there just silly ocs.

I could and definitely am going to info dump about these guys into the void.

Basically, they live in a sci-fi/fantasy world. Because a good bit of both is healthy for my mind. In a city I have yet to name, it's like our world but it's not. The general population doesn't know about magic or aliens or anything- there's lots of stories and theories but nothing confirmed. But yes, all sorts of creatures like these exist, coexisting with humans like the men in black movies except it's not just aliens.

And one of these groups is our fabulous boys. Aka. Hale, Ray, Ginger, riley and their dad. Living in an abandoned train station under the city.

I dont want to spoil much, incase I do indeed do stuff with it but basically I've got it into like three story chunks. The first one being the boys trying to figure out their backstory- why they exist and why their dad is so weird about answering some questions about their childhood.

In this group, there's also Mavis! Mavis gets introduced pretty early on, being so curious about the supposedly abandoned haunted train station she goes down and snoops around. Only to get jumpscared by Hale. Plenty of people have snooped around their home before, but not many make it farther than the entrance platform.

Hale and Mavis being friends kinda goes agaisnt their little "no human contact" code, but what no one knows wont hurt them!

And it kinda goes from there. I'm too burnt out from art to really make it into a comic so I kinda wanted to start writing about it instead with a few graphic elements here and there.

Its heavily inspired by tmnt, sure but I'm adding in a bunch of other stuff I personally think is cool and other inspo.

Theres alot of things I wanna handle in it but I think I want the main focus to be on familial ties- chosen ones and non chosen ones.

Realized. I haven't really posted any art. Cause I really... haven't been making much? Lately I've been in a bit of an art block. So here's a little art dump of stuff I've made but haven't shown.

Mainly ocs but a little bit of tmnt.

You can skip my yapping if ur not interested.

But the first image is me trying to revamp old ocs. I don't have names for them, but the yellow guy used to be a star but I thought a lion/ringleader vibe might fit? I... don't like the designs. I'm probably gonna change them.

Second is sonic. I like sonic.

Third and fourth. boom! The bomb. And his buddy Fitz. There's no story there. Just an angry little guy and his big ditzy friend.

Fifth. Venus. I've been trying to design her for awhile and I kinda like the albino design.

And lastly. Shifty rottmnt doodles from a month ago.

So... I do have my own iteration of tmnt but it's like super unfinished and I'm still struggling thru the designs. It's more so a bunch of ideas I'd like to see from a tmnt story one day then an actual story story.

And raphs design particularly is putting me thru the ringer.

I have no clue what to make this boy look like half the time.

I may have had a like 2 hour binge of Fetch! With ruff ruffman. And now I am dying to draw the two fellas.

I watched the show as a kid, and I mean I adore basically all of pbs's shows. They made me the nerd I am today. But I watched ALL of fetch. I loved that show as a kid, (blossom is still my favorite). I still thing that stupid golden fetchy statue is creepy as fuck tho. I have never liked how that thing looked.

But anyways. This is just me ranting to the internet void that I enjoy a silly little cartoon show.

N it sucks that I have to watch it on YouTube because I don't know where else to find it. Made me realize a good few of the shows I liked as a kid are just harder and harder to find. Almost becoming lost media, and it's sad. But I'm glad I have a good few of these silly little clips to hold on to.

void meet my brain rot pt 2

so. I have my own colorful ver. Of the turtles, I've explained this in a past post.

Ive made some designs of April and Casey that I'm satisfied enough with to share

Im still fidgeting with her color palette but I like the general look of this design

And then some hockey Casey. This is actually more so an idea of his vigilante look. I imagine he just repurposes some of his older hockey gear as some form of padding when he's out fighting people.

More Casey. I... am struggling with hair color for these two.

But anyways I was thinking of giving them both acne, Casey more so but first I need to figure out how I wanna draw It.

Anyways, I'm still trying to figure out what I want from them as characters, and what to change and what to keep.

Me ranting about ocs again.

Verro! One of my most developed ocs, story wise.

He accidentally keeps getting jobs as a goon to villains, until he finally gets a job at Run of the Mill. He actually meets the rise boys a few times, as funny little interactions. Their first meet idea is sorta the boys running from big mama in the nexus hotel, and Verro works there. Anyways Verro is like "I'm not paid enough to hunt down people" and he just let's them leave.

I also have this one idea, called "Frog legs" I dunno if I wanna share a bunch about it, cause I might make it into a comic. But involves MeatSweats.

Anyways Verro in his appearances would be alot more like... exasperated than his actual personality is. He's kinda just being tossed around for a good chunk of his story.

Id think he'd have a really weird relationship with the rise boys, with him having been a goon for multiple villains, but also he's not like an actual villain. He does his job, and when it goes against his morals he opts out.

Uh... well. That's really it for this rant, for now. I may rant more about him in the future, it really depends on if I get myself to make that "Frog Legs" comic or not.
