       her throat feels raw, scratched & dry--she must have screamed, she realizes, and looks up to see the two wardens still standing above her. duncan’s voice is an incoherent low rumble that slowly coalesces into words she understands, and once she is on her feet amrita manages a nod in response. a meeting with the king then, so soon after all this? her head spins, and she takes a hasty side step to retain her balance as duncan turns to leave. the young warden--alistair, if she recalls correctly--is still standing there, and she tilts her head at him in silent question.

10. if inquisition operated like da:o, what would their gift items be? What would their approval and disapproval Feast Day items be?

i actually think about this so much….. because merilin isn’t very materialistic at all. she’s definitely one of those people who are AWFUL when it comes to buying them gifts bc she’s just so listless with her interests. 

BUT, as far as general gifts go, i can see an inquisitor stacking up her favor by gifting her novelty items usually associated with either alienage or dalish culture because who else are you gonna give em to?? sera and solas dont want anything to do with either group lol. no matter what you think she feels about elves, she’s homesick as hell

a rivaini seer’s cowl could be her feast day approval item (it might boost her magic resistance too or something), and her disapproval item would probably be some book titled “infanticide and the second exalted march” ksjdfkjasdhlkjfshgkjsfhsjkh

12. do they believe the herald of andraste is really the herald of andraste?

merilin’s feelings about faith are so fucking complicated she just…… prefers not to think too hard about it. even when she’s called herald of andraste, the only reason she backs it up is because she’s thinking pragmatically that she’s going to need all the chantry support she can get to do anything efficiently

if you like. sat her down and MADE her try to come up with an answer, she’ll struggle for a while and then say,,,,,, they probably aren’t. but she really couldn’t care less, because to her, the herald IS the herald so long as people simply believe they are, not just because the maker chose them personally. the truth hardly matters when anyone can (and will) interpret facts however they like to suit their whims

14. what nickname does varric give them?

i’m no expert on his nicknaming practices, but i always thought it’d be somthing like “mom”, or just anything that pokes fun at the fact that she really does just…. mother and fret over others and doesn’t even realize it.

i actually remember discussing this with @chestoftheages once though, and they pointed out that varric tends to give elven girls nicknames related to flowers, and suggested “thistle” because they’ve got nice pretty flowers, but barbs that cling to folks and prick them too. 

i’m pretty undecided on a nickname overall, and will probably leave it up to any varric mun i thread with in the future to decide lol

          Their time together has perhaps, been forced by circumstance - a requirement of their titles, of their reputations and histories brought together to do what it is they do best. A Champion and a veteran Warden of the Fifth Blight. And perhaps she has been distant, desiring nothing more than to finish what she thought she’d already killed, nothing more than settle it and be gone. Her gaze shifts to look at Alistair. The least she can do is get to know the man in the hopes of making the impossible feel a little more comfortable.

fury. what is a word/phrase that you dread to hear? | monster themed asks.

     given the uncertainty of the wasteland, he tends to dread that, upon arrival to wherever any given parcel or message is due to be delivered, someone will inevitably tell him that the intended recipient is either missing, in trouble, or recently deceased —— since he knows he’ll agree to being roped into a larger dilemma simply because he has trouble saying no. while character alignment is neutral, his karma accrual is on the good spectrum, and it’s due solely to the fact he’s kind of a doormat. for reasons mostly out of his control, at that.
