I keep reading the word SCOTUS as SCROTUS and if that doesn’t describe the Supreme Court after Kavanaugh’s confirmation, I don’t know what does.

Kavanaugh: The President is Above the Law and can NOT be subpoenaed or prosecuted.
Dean argues in his testimony that conservatives have “slowly done a 180-degree turn” on executive power and that a Supreme Court that is overly deferential to the president is “deeply troubling” with Republicans controlling both the House and Senate.

Dean was a key witness during the congressional Watergate hearings in 1973, recounting how he told President Richard M. Nixon that there was a “cancer” growing on the presidency. Nixon resigned in 1974.
Dean was charged with obstruction of justice for his role in the Watergate cover-up and spent four months in prison.

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp Will Vote ‘No’ on Kavanaugh as a ‘Signal to Young Girls and Women’

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin must follow her example, as well as, Republicans; Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Jeff Flake.
North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp is one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for re-election in North Dakota, and her poll numbers against Republican Kevin Cramer continue to drop. As a red state Democrat, Heitkamp was considered to be a significant swing vote in the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Yet Despite her difficult battle for re-election, Heitkamp told a North Dakota ABC affiliate on Thursday that she would not vote for Kavanaugh.
“In addition to the concerns about his past conduct, last Thursday's hearing called into question Judge Kavanaugh's current temperament, honesty, and impartiality.”
“When I listened to Dr. Ford testify, I heard the voices of women I have known throughout my life who have similar stories of sexual assault and abuse,”

The legitimacy of the Supreme Court is on the line.
Paul Krugman speaks the truth:

At a fundamental level, the attempt to jam Brett Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court closely resembles the way Republicans passed a tax cut last year.
Republican democracy is administrative fascism
Once again we see a rushed, nakedly partisan process, with G.O.P. leaders withholding much of the information that’s supposed to go into congressional deliberations. Once again the outcome is all too likely to rest on pure tribalism.

Remember, Kavanaugh cut his teeth working for the Starr investigation into Bill Clinton — a genuine witch hunt that consumed seven years and tens of millions of dollars without finding any evidence of wrongdoing. And he personally spent years obsessively pursuing crazy conspiracy theories about the suicide of Vince Foster.
“He spent time working in the George W. Bush White House, which made torture a routine part of policy.”
Kavanaugh accumulated a record as an appellate judge — one that places him far to the right on everything from the environment, to labor rights, to discrimination.
“His anti-labor views are especially extreme, even for a conservative.”
