S/o to all my betas, but especially my IRLs who I forced to play ZENO specifically so they could beta this fic.

I'm so glad I have betas, man. My first (completed) draft of this fic made some crazy choices re: dialogue formatting. I thought I was being cool and poetic, but my betas unanimously told me they were SUPER confused about the dialogue, so I fixed it to be normal.

I also thought it would be cool if ZENO!Tsugino thought in run-on sentences to distinguish the prose from how he normally thinks, but when I told beta Mary, she was like "Haha?? No, please don't do that, it's so hard to read."

I understand it when authors say that editors cramp their style, but honestly, mine serve as sanity checkers LMAO.

I've never written a proper multi-chapter plot-centric fic, so this has been a pretty exciting experience!! I think I've been working on this fic since... October 2024?

This fic was originally supposed to be a quick porn-without-plot oneshot set in Sin End A! But when I couldn't figure out a good "excuse plot," I wrote 10k more words trying to make it porn WITH plot..... and then Mary beta read the draft and was very kindly like "Hmm, I think it needs work :)" and I realized I actually hated most of what I'd written (other than the 2k words of EXTREMELY detailed blood-drawing). Whoops! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

But it turned out alright!!! I ended up cannibalizing (ha) that draft to reuse in this final fic. This one turned out a lot better (although I did end up having to heavily condense the blood-drawing scenes 😔).

I really do write better when I'm restricted to writing around a single strong theme or motif... And the motif this time is...... going to be revealed in ch 2, but you can probably guess where this is going from the fic summary and the end of ch 1.
