              THE BEAUTY about her job was being able to come back to the station after knowing you’ve done your job and managed to save a family. no matter how badly you smelled like smoke. or was covered from head to toe in soot. that was a regular occurrence for the blonde. but as she stood behind her desk rubbing at her face to try and clear her eyes, she heard a knock on her office door followed by it opening. she was about to go for a shower but of course someone had to knock on her door. letting out a small groan, maya spoke without looking up  “Please tell me this isn’t important and is going to BE QUICK.”

She’s wedged far in the back of the cargo hold with a novel, crates on either side of her even taller than she was. It was quite down there, the only noise the whir of the ship’s engines and the far away chattering of voices. No one went this far, not unless they had to or were looking for their own space to hide away but she had gotten there first so they were just out of luck. 

Sipping from a flask of something strong, Allie quietly puts the top back on before flipping a page in the book. She was safe back there, or as safe as could be. No one would need anything in that area anytime soon and that was perfectly fine with her. If it was an emergency she’d hear about it from the noises near her, and to be honest, if it was crucial enough EDI could track her. But just once she wanted to be on her own, with her own thoughts with no shattering crisis biting at her heels.

That is, until she looks up and sees a pair of eyes peering in-between two of the larger boxes near her. With a wide gaze, Allie freezes before eventually stating, “...You don’t see me here.” Maybe today was the day those Jedi-mind tricks would work?
