tfw the character you try to pretend is a happy, cocky asshole reminds you of their traumatic childhood, continuing self-loathing and lurking depression.

also I’m trying to figure out what kind of perfumes Morgan usually wears (actually, I’m thinking about this for a lot of characters but Morgan is the most fun.)
Since vampires usually have a sort of...faint dusty/musty/rotten/waxy smell to them, I feel like they have a tendency to wear far more perfume than they should... Which honestly, is a bad way to cover up a bad smell and makes them even more flammable than they already are. vampires, however, do tend to be rather vain. They just are.
As for Morgan though, I think she tends towards scents with a strong vanilla base. Gourmands are probably her preferred perfume scent, although she’s also pretty okay with chypre.
I assume, being a vampire monarch, however, she has her own custom blended perfume? Probably a vanilla and amber base, something warm and mellow with a hint of spicyness -- so dragonsblood and morrocan jasmine with hints of blackberries and bergamot in there as well. Mostly though, you’d smell the vanilla and amber. She wears a lot more of it than a human would need to since vampires don’t have the body heat necessary to really make the perfume bloom -- so it would likely smell rather different when worn by a human.
How many times had she heard that vampires felt nothing? It was a common line that Hunters trotted out any time they dealt with one of her kind. They didn’t feel love or hate -- their bodies couldn’t feel hot or cold. If they felt at all, it was only murderous bloodlust. This was complete bullshit, as far as Morgan was concerned. Some vampires may have been dead in body and soul both, but she certainly wasn’t. And as for not feeling hot or cold? Vampires are cold-blooded and as such, delicately sensitive to the extremes of both. In frozen weather their bodies could freeze, their blood turning into a sluggish slush... In the other direction, well, one only needed to see how a vampire’s body reacted to t he sun.
Morgan was lucky in that respect. All vampires reacted differently to sunlight -- some burst into flames, some would have their skin become covered in blisters and burns. She suffered from extreme sun poisoning -- she would become weak and dizzy, her temperature would skyrocket but she would feel intensely cold. After not too long, she’d simply pass out entirely and if left exposed for long enough, her skin would blister, shrivel and blacken like any other vampire. Still, it meant that she could go out earlier and stay out later than many another vampire, which gave her quite the edge.
She tried to draw breath but got nothing, only the taste of blood, grave dirt and rot. A thick gurgle accompanied her first gasp, followed by the sound of liquid spattering on stone. Ella’s eyes opened for the first time since her death to a milky-white haze obscuring her sight.
“What happened?” She croaked, her voice a thick, wet rasp. Through the haze, Ella could make out that she was in a basement. The glow of magic still filled the air. Marguerite stepped into her sight. The older woman looked haggard -- not due to age, but exhaustion. It must have been a difficult ritual... Regardless, everything was not Jake. Not by a long shot.
“There were a few complications with your ressurection, Ella.”
“’Sthat so? I never woulda noticed. I woulda thought things were copacetic.” She coughed, or tried to cough. Despite the thick, slimy coating of blood, her throat felt dry.
Ella tried to get to her feet, her body felt weak -- her limbs were uncooperative. She sank back down onto the stone. Things definitely weren’t all right.
“It took longer than planned to gather enough energy for the kind of ritual you had in place... especially given the circumstances surrounding your death. Was it really necessary for you to get shot that many times?”
Ella frowned “Oh dry up. It was only a hundred times...” She stuck her tongue out. “Fuck, that tastes bad.”
Maurgerite raised an eyebrow “I’d expect it would, I couldn’t get the hole in your chest to close up.” “...Horsefeathers.” Ella looked down. Marguerite was right: where there should have been smooth skin was a gaping, bloody hole. Actually, she was downright sure she could see bits of ribs sticking out. “Ew.”
“...That’s putting it lightly.”
(im just gonna rant about this here bc I don’t have anywhere else to do it, it’s my writing blog anywway)
it’s kinda important to note that out of all the “containers” (i.e., people who have signed their bodies away for eventual possession) who are in Possession, Daithi is the youngest. The next youngest is Veronika/Ronnie who’s like, 22. Eric is 25. Crow is almost 30. Daithi is fucking 17 -- will be 18 when the contract is sealed.
He literally signed away at 11 (I’m not going with that whole “contracts made with children aren’t legally binding!” thing that keeps going around tumblr bc that’s fucking bunk -- demons don’t follow legal code. Draco (the demon possessing Daithi) sure as fuck doesn’t.). It’s honestly really shitty and it takes a really special kind of asshole demon to do that.
(I mean honestly, the paladins would be essentially SHOCKED that this even happened. But then, Draco has a tendency of looking for younger hosts because, well, let’s face it -- you get them for longer, since possessed bodies still age and they tend to deteriorate rather quickly)
I’m not sure if this shit applies in D6 or not since I haven’t decided if all of my universes are interconnected or not :x
I know that the universe for the story I’m currently working on doesn’t intersect with D6 but does the SOH universe? Who the fuck knows. Will my unnamed vampire comic idea? Yes, since it centers around d6 characters anyway.
i need a new name for this series since division 6 appears to already be in use by a popular artist (though, I dont know how long that series has been around) and also appears to be the name for a witch-hunting group in a roleplaying game.
*sigh*
more world building:
uh also; supernatural creatures in the Novel ‘verse are kind of weird in how they work.
They all had a progenitor “type”, the thing that started the myth to begin with... But because of the changeable nature of reality and their tennous hold on our plane (most Supernaturals don’t even belong on this plane of existence -- they started “outside” of it) their abilities, strengths, weaknesses and even forms change over time with human belief.
In the Novel ‘verse humans have a fuck ton of control over their “native” plane, not as individuals (although there are some individuals who have the ability to alter/fuck with reality) but as a group, they exert a tremendous amount of influence.
So, as humanity’s belief in supernatural creatures wanes or grows, so does their hold and their strength (which I think came up in a drabble I was doing with Morgan, idk if I posted it here or not. Where she mentions that they’re slowly “fading” as humans move away from the Supernatural.)
This leads to a huge fucking variety even in one species. It’s why my vampires have strains/variants that are allergic to silver, who are only weakened in the sun or are totally different in form from the “true” type. (which I haven’t figured out -- I have no idea what the oRIGINAL vampire is like -- only the current species which came about sometime in the middle ages.)
And from locale to locale, the types change as well. So we have location-based variations as well.
Basically, supernaturals are really fucking changeable, have a massive variety and don’t even have any like, base that you can expect them to stick to -- with obvious exceptions. All varieties of vampire need blood in some form to survive, all shapeshifters can change their shape into something else, all incubi/succubi need sex energy to survive. But from there on out, everything is fair game.
Nothing is ever static or possible to really expect.
